So glad this theater is still doing well in downtown Claremont! Bought my ticket online for opening weekend of Wicked:For Good. General admission was $16 with $1.50 processing fee. I had seen the first half of Wicked at home through streaming, so it was a treat to watch the second half in the theater. It was packed! All ages, everyone appreciative, with applause at the beginning and end. I chose a seat near the back because these theaters are much smaller than the more commercial AMC or Regal cinemas. Seating is not luxury recliner style, but comfortable enough. Staff at the Laemmle is friendly, and their concessions seemed decent, offering even some alcohol options. read more

Recently accompanied my friend to see Star Trek Wrath of Khan with director Q&A with Nicholas Meyer. I am not a Trekkie, I knew nothing about this film and the only time I'd see Star Trek was on channel 13 when I was switching channels. The film was actually really cool and the Q&A with the director was even better! The movie going experience itself was very nice. The screen seemed huge compared to other indie theaters I've been to and the seats were comfortable. I would see more films here if I'm in town. I know they are always showing a lot of very cool indie films and limited releases. Parked at the parking structure down the street and walked over. Claremont is a very cool place to visit and Laemmle's is a great excuse to visit this town. read more

730 pm, Friday, September 19, 2025 Date night, we showed up late for our movie at Laemmle's Claremont 5. We were informed that their previews run only ten minutes as compared to 45 at AMC! WOW! TIP: be on time for the show! We ended up missing the first part of the flick. It was a good movie too! This is an older multi theater pre-megaplex. I heard the air conditioning fan up there at the ceiling, lol. It need some oil. Definitely have this place character. The seats were cozy, the arm between the seats was able to be moved out of the way. Pricing is decent, $10 senior ticket. The employees were super nice. I was carrying a doggy bag from the restaurant, no issue. Brought it right in. Support the independent theater! I love this place. Parking: recommend the Packing House structure. Knock on wood, was able to get a space on the second level. I don't bother looking for convenience on level 1, haha. We were able to walk to dinner nearby and then back to the theater. read more

I LOVE this theater. I used to frequent the one in Pasadena and now I get to be a regular here. Its mot like the megaplexes but it has a variety of films, less packed, parking at the packing house parking lot. read more

My mother and I learned of an independent foreign film that was only showing at this little downtown theater a few cities over. We decided to make an outing of it. OMG! This was the quaintest, cutest, most friendly, awesome little theater we've ever seen or been in. And there were vegetarian/vegan options at the snack bar. It was amazing. The theatre is beautiful, and it is such a unique venue overall. The ticket purchasing windows are not always staffed, so going inside to the concessions stand (where they can also authorize ticket sales) is your best and quickest option. A friendly and intimate theater! It feels very homey, and the food is excellent along with reasonably priced. It also plays certain movies that would not be accessible from other theaters. The movies that are played that are unusual although amazing are the Ghibli movies! I love the fact that people are able to watch them on big screen. Another great feature about the Ghibli movies in this theater is the fact you can watch either the subtitled version or the dubbed over version! It's not the most modern place, but it makes up for that with it's atmosphere, food, and choice of excellent movies. read more

No one checked my ticket when I got in I could've just walked in the theater without paying. The girl at the concession stand couldn't have been more rude. No idea why this is even tolerated. I asked her to check my ticket and she says "oh yeah we're supposed to check those" But was completely apathetic about everything. I'm sorry I will never return to your theater. read more

I've supported Laemmle Claremont ever since they opened in late 2007. I choose them over the bigger theaters because I like the indie and art house movies that Laemmle specializes in. They tend to show Oscar-worthy films that are lesser known that you may not find in the bigger chain theaters. Laemmle also shows the mainstream movies as well. I like the artistic theme decor complete with portraits, paintings, and ceramics. It brings a sense of culture and uniqueness to the space. I like that the audience has always been quiet, polite, and respectful. The Laemmle tends not to attract the loud, boisterous, drunk crowd who like to ruin other people's enjoyment of the movie like you sometimes can find at the bigger chain theaters. It's clean and kept up well. No sticky floors or messy restrooms. No trash left behind. The ticket and concessions prices are reasonable. Personally, I don't mind that it is not stadium seating with multiple rows and reclining chairs like at the bigger chain theaters. It was nice sitting in the back row and not having the screen so far away. I found the chairs to be comfortable. I don't think the modern amenities are so important that I would pay double the price for a ticket just to have them. It's not a big deal to me. Very important: I heard that this great little theater will close at the end of the year if they do not get more support from the community. The pandemic was devastating to them. We are so lucky to have a nice place to go see movies. If you are deciding where to go to the movies, pick Laemmle any chance you can. They need our support. Hope they will stay open. This small theater frequented by the locals is a great find! It's small and comfortable with only a few screens (I count 6 of them). They also have some special screening films. The weekday matinee prices are a bargain. The small snack bar has some pretty good combo package specials. It has sort of an artsy retro decor. I like that it's not big and crowded (at least on weekdays). The parking garage on 1st Street is the best place to park. The courtyard area outside of the theater is a great place to hang out before or after the show. Kids love playing in the fountain on warm days. read more

This theater is never crowded, has great large buttery popcorn ( less than 10 bucks), reasonable ticket price in a classic old building. They have local artist paintings and ceramics. And on occasion a solo musician plays in the lobby. Plus its surrounded by any eatery you desire. After the movie you can walk around in a safe environment. read more

I went to go and watch Everything, Everywhere, All at Once here. That being said, I knew it would be a dated theater, but I didn't anticipate it being practically a relic. It's a nice place to go if you want to watch niche films or you want to do some thing spontaneous after grabbing lunch in the area. Wonderful theatre in a beautiful location. The manager was really helpful when we purchased online tickets but only half of the party arrived. He kept the other tickets at the box office and wrote down the names of the parties. The food here is a little less expensive than other theatres too as the littles always want their snacks and drinks. Relaxing theatre and would definitely be back next time. If you want the latest amenities and high tech, updated theatre, don't come here. But no reason to dock stars. This is a great theatre. read more

Finally checked this place out last night. They were showing a movie we wanted to watch that wasn't in bigger theaters, so we ended up here. Pros: really cute, small theater. They have about 5 or so rooms I believe. Getting tickets was SUPER easy and fast. The bathroom was clean and well kept. I'm assuming because it's so small it's easier to keep it clean. Lol. Cons: This was my biggest issue with this place....the seats were NOT comfortable. Not sure if I'm just used to the recliners and comfortable seats at the bigger theaters, but I kept having to move around because I was just not comfortable. read more

BEST movies - a mixture of latest blockbusters and indie. Magical courtyard area outside to sit and chat with family after the movie. It is easy to be a regular with their prices. Park above the 3rd level if using the parking structure across the street, where it is free all day. Skip the elevators if possible and use the stairs right next to the elevators. Sometimes it looks like something weird happened in there. I give my mother the Premiere gift card when financially possible. She knows what's good and loves Laemmle! read more

A delightful little theatre located in a social square at the delightful Claremont village, Claremont 5 mostly specializes in showing smaller art house fare or the kinds of movies you'll see get nominated for the end of year awards. We started coming to this theatre because they accept MoviePass but also because it's located at an area where it's easy to do things or eat before or after watching a movie. It also helps immensely that the theatre itself is (while dated and lacking true stadium seating) clean, well-lit and run by friendly staff. The screens themselves are clear and the not so cushy seats are positioned well enough that you don't have to worry too much about someone's head blocking your way. The crowd here always seem respectful and relaxed as the types of crowds you'll find at an indie movie theater tend to be. Parking in this area is slim pickings but if you're willing to walk a bit longer your chances get better. The two hour parking restriction is also lifted after the afternoons. read more

We've been coming here for over 5 years and I'm almost tempted not promote this place that has become our own little cozy theater house. I honestly don't have gripes to report. It's independently own and provides that small town USA feeling. If you're seeking peace and quiet, blah blah blah. Oh wait, I didn't say that LOL. 5 smaller rooms with approximately 20 rows deep and 12 seats across on each side. No center seating. Very laid back with a much more conservative movie seeker. Laemmle's offers a handful of block busters and split daily format with indie flicks, you get the best of both which you wont find at a major conglomerate cinema overfilled with infants on strollers, kids with ants in pants, rude audience disrespecting noise level and that annoying person constantly kicking back of your chair. Super clean concession and super clean restroom. Nicely decorated with movie advert's, low lighting, very clean patterned carpet and air conditioner perfectly balanced. Free parking inside a multi level parking structure. Spaces are on the smaller side but it's all good. Located within Claremont village boasting night life and alike. I've seen many a movie here over the course of my Claremont college experience. Great little spot in the village that'll have the most popular showings in addition to some Indie films/not as famous films. Everything is clean and well-run. Most showings aren't super full which is a nice change from the bigger movie theaters in the more populous parts of LA. It's also nice knowing that you're more than likely to be able to catch the showtime you want without worrying that it'll be sold out. I've seen quite a few popular movies on opening night at the Laemmle (Infinity War, Black Panther, etc) and while the theater was decently full, I've never had it sold out, even when I showed up right before the movie was gonna start. Seats are first come first serve, so if you want to pick your favorite seats, show up a little earlier (it's almost never a problem though). Main reason for not giving it 5 stars is comfort-- they're old chairs and the seats don't recline. It's fine for a shorter Disney movie but if you're watching a longer film like Avengers Endgame, I don't think I'd be able to sit in these chairs for 3 hours. There's plenty of discounts for cheaper tickets like senior weekdays, student Sundays, popcorn Thursdays, group activity tickets, etc. (all on their website). I get all my Laemmle tickets through CMC's dean of students office --paying $7 to see a movie is an absolute steal in this day and age. read more

I haven't been to this theater in 10 or 11 years. It's a small theater which is nice because I don't like a lot of people in one theater because of the noise factor. Came here this morning to watch Endgame with my boys. Total of 10 people in our theater on a Sunday morning. So nice and quiet. The seats are very upright but decent. Bathrooms are clean and the so was the rest of the theater. Defiantly will be back for more morning viewings. read more

I felt super thug VIP up in this joint. No, really. First, we stroll up with the sun chasing us, bringing it into the courtyard, radiating around us like we was G-sus. We looked all sorts of glowy goodness. I'm pretty sure people stopped and stared. We approached the ticket window and was greeted by a little mini Thug Life Tupac and I whipped out my cellular calling device and showed the teenager behind the window my brand spankin' new digital Groupon - BOOM! Hooked us up with 2 tickets to see ...er, The Family??? da fucc?! I dunno how she took us for the type of broads who'd watch a flick called 'The Family' but we was there to see some white lady go crazy in Blue Jasmine. No worries, they took our tix and the usher told us the # for BJ. THEN we go to the concession stand 5 feet away where there is no line and a really super friendly face behind the register waiting to give us 2 large sodas (omg *cringe*) and a large ass popcorn. And when I asked him to put half the large bucket of GMO's in a little container with NO butter for me he was not only happy to oblige, he actually gave me my own Large non-buttered popcorn in addition to the one that came with our Groupon. It was our first time at this particular theater and we had an unfortunate interaction at the box office due to a number of discrepancies they had between their information and what the website said. The management didn't handle it that well (good manners and curtsey were definitely lacking), but we did get complimentary tickets out of the whole deal. Anyways, moving on... The theater is quite small, but clean and well-kept. We are used to the Laemmle's in Pasadena, so we were pleasantly surprised to see newer, softer, bigger chairs with lifting dividers for a better quality cuddling : ) When you are in the movie theater for 2 hours, the chairs are kind of a deal breaker. With plenty of free parking and a plethora of great dining in beautiful downtown Claremont, it is definitely a great place for a date. Just keep your interactions with the staff to a minimum. read more
