Bob runs the most trustworthy appliance repair service in town. He is upfront and honest with his assessment of the problem and the cost or repairing it. My last interaction with him was on the phone. He told me he would be happy to come out and work on my LG dishwasher, however, the cost to repair it was going to be close to the value of the dishwasher and that he felt I was better off trying a few things on my own or buying new. His hints worked, and we have a working dishwasher...for now. Not sure there are too many repair shops in town that are that honest. We only deal with Bob. read more

After discussing them with Bob, he advised that the repair on the washer would be more expensive then buying a new one and the dryer has circuit board issue that cannot be fixed. We have worked with Bob for 8 years now for both our home and rentals. What we like the most about him is his honest feedback before starting the work. On two occasions he has told us to replace the appliance and that it would not be worth paying him to work on it. He recently did this on a dishwasher for us. I had a noisy dryer, and while talking to Bob about it (who is, I believe, the owner and sole appliance repair technician for this company), it sounded like it would cost $60-80 to fix. I never asked for a written quote. He also instilled a healthy fear in me of dryer fires, caused by build-up of dryer lint within the unit or within the venting system. We made an appointment, it got moved around a bit as dryers are not priority (refrigerators are, and I understand this). When we were talking on the phone about the problem, he came across as quite a character: lots of opinions, brash, nothing too out of the ordinary, but the phone call did take over 30 minutes (and we were done talking about appliances pretty early on). I figured the guy liked to hear himself talk, and I was was being entertained and possibly educated in the process. Having interacted with him now multiple times, it's fair to say that if you think Howard Stern is a hoot, you might really enjoy bantering with Bob. Before we met in person, I already knew a lot about his opinions. Anyway, he took the dryer apart, he cleaned out the lint (GOBS of it), he replaced some of the parts that tend to break over time (the unit is over 7 years old, but still works). All of that was good. He wasn't able to completely remove the weird noise it makes when it runs, but having run it since his visit, I can attest that it is MUCH quieter than it was, and it dries clothes faster than it did before, so that's a plus. Bob clearly cares about his job and doing it right. The visit ended up costing $130, which was more than I had figured a dryer clean-out and maintenance would have cost. He also kept complaining that it was taking longer than he expected, but there didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary about the task at hand. I could be wrong about that, but since he kept me informed of the process all along the way (I was standing there for most of it), that wasn't my impression. read more
