Good place to have a nice and relatively cheap dinner. Bison burger is quite good. This is a brew pub so don't order bud lite here :-) Common ale is pretty good in fact my personal favorite. Fish and chips is good as well. Portions are huge so don't worry about that. Good place to treat someone...even someone older. read more

It's a restaurant. It's a brewing company. It's two things in one, but let's talk brews first. I'm not a big craft beer fan because it always seems so hit or miss to me. As mentioned by a couple other reviewers, ask your server or bartender for a sample. On my latest visit, the bartender was happy to oblige. So if you know you're going to have a beverage but really cannot tell which one, please do ask for samples. It seemed like they had a couple seasonal beers (December/winter/holidays), and I want to say LBC did the same thing when I was in there over the summer. The Hefeweizen was pretty good, maybe a little more bitter than what I would be used to in Germany, but still good. Food was good. I was told that the next time in there I had to do fish and chips, so I did fish and chips. As far as pub grub goes, it was excellent. Some comments about the prices from other reviewers, so as a point of reference: Fish and chips basket 8.95, platter was 12.95. Waffle fries disappeared sometime during the six months since I was last in town. The new secret is to ask for the fries seasoned (there are options there). A beautiful and large brew pub with some great beers and better food. I highly recommend getting samplers of all their beers, with a tendency towards the Scottish ale, oatmeal stout, and Tippecanoe ale. The ale was good enough that I got growler to go :) In a party of five on a Saturday we were seated promptly and the service was super friendly. Everyone enjoyed their food, but I will only describe my beef brisket sandwich: it was piled high and delicious. I would say there was a half pound of meat. Also, the waffle fries were just right, not to greasy. Overall, I was very pleased with our experience and would recommend to anyone, whether you drink beer or not. read more

The food and service at LBC seem hit or miss in my experience. Since they won't take reservations, you can end up waiting a while on the weekends for a table, and for service. Smaller parties tend to do better, service-wise (like 4 or less). Sitting at the bar is a better bet in my experience. The real reason to go to LBC is for the beer. It's nice to have a local micro brew around and you can pick up growlers there for a reasonable price. They also have very good root beer for the under-21s or non-drinkers. Disclaimer: I am reviewing the food/restaurant aspect of LBC, not the brewery side of the business (which is quite good!) LBC has great "bar food" ... but only sometimes. Inconsistency is a problem. However, it pales in comparison to the massive over pricing. If it weren't for the pricing issue, I might consider this a 4-star restaurant. taco - $13 burger - $11 onion rings - $8 These are not exaggerations. I encourage you to check the menu online. I have eaten there 50 times, and 40 of those dining experiences were wonderful. Unfortunately, the ball was dropped on the other occasions. let me give 2 examples. The beer-battered chicken sandwich is generally fantastic. it comes with agigantic piece of tender, flavorful, crispy chicken. I have probably ordered that sandwich 10 times. Unfortunately, the most recent occasion on which I ordered it was a disaster. The chicken was the size of a deck of playing cards(considerably smaller than normal) and it was soggy and stale tasting. Another occasion on which I experienced inconsistency at LBC occurred when I ordered the black n blue ceasar salad. as with the chicken sandwich, the first 10 times i ordered it, it was great: i received a generous portion of salad with heaps of bleu cheese and a nice thick, juicy steak on top. sadly, the last time i ordered it i received only a handful of soggy, wilted lettuce with a tiny sprinkle of bleu cheese on top. the steak was a miniature shriveled mess resembling beef jerky. I should mention that the real killer is the price. $9.50 for a burger. $7.50 for a chicken sandwich. $6 for soup. $9.00 for salad. If the food was consistently good, the prices would be justifiable, but that's not the case. One final comment I'd like to make is in regards to the atmosphere. LBC has changed for the worse in the past few years. a decade ago, it had a light buzz, and felt as family-friendly as a pub can feel. that has changed. in the evenings LBC feels a little seedy these days. it's a nice place to go for lunch, but i wouldnt take my grandfather there for dinner. update (3/22/14): I ate at LBC for lunch. Service was average. four of us ordered, and only one person's meal had a mistake (she asked for no-mayo or something, i dont remember exactly what the error was.) I ordered a simple cup of soup and a chicken sandwich. The soup was excellent, and the sandwich was average. It came with chips that were flavorless, burned and sort of gross. I actually didnt want them in the first place, but upgrading to fries instead of chips costs an additional $3. The soup was $6 and the sandwich was $8. With a soda and tip included, I spent $20. I thought for a moment about what I can get for $20 at other establishments in Lafayette: 2 large pizzas, 10 double cheeseburgers, 2 beautiful sushirolls with soup, rice, drink, etc etc. The quality of food simply doesnt justify the price. There are other cheaper, better, faster places to have lunch. update: (1/15/15): eight dollar onion rings. Enough said update: (9/12/16): I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd give LBC another try. I called in a carryout order and the employee informed me that I couldn't order a daily-special and I would have to pay extra to take my food to-go. What? Really? Why? I take a lot of larger groups to the Lafayette Brewing Co. We rent the upstairs event space, The staff always takes very good care of our groups and the food is excellent. Highly recommend this brewery for groups. The room has its own bar, corn hole games, pool tables, and private tours of the brewery. All add to the experience for our attendees. I have never been to the Lafayette Brewing Company, however, I had such great service that I have to share my experience. My husband went to Purdue early 2000's. He had a 10th anniversary Lafayette Brewing Company pint glass. My crazy hyper dog broke it two days ago. It shattered. I was a little broken-hearted and called LBC. I shared my minor crises with Kaitlin. Kaitlin tells me that they have pint glasses, but that they can't ship them. We live over 2 hours away. Kaitlin says that she would like to drop them in the mail herself. On her own time she carefully packaged my four pint glasses and a growler to send to me. Today I received this package with the most wonderful note from Kaitlin. A total stranger going above the call of duty (and being the sweetest and most thoughtful lady). We tried again after having horrible service here in the past. The place was pretty much empty and we were seated immediately. The server was friendly and helpful, however there must have been a shift change as suddenly we had a different server. The new server took way too long to get refills on drinks, which made no sense as she literally had two tables. After waiting about 20 minutes after she took our plates, we stood up to go ask for the bill. Suddenly she appeared!! I asked if we could have our bill. She replied with a snarky attitude and an eye roll. She returned with our bill while we were still standing with our coats on. She placed the bill on the table and began to walk away. I stopped her to hand her my debit card. She eventually returned. The wait time for our bill and the nasty attitude from our server guarantees we will never return. Great atmosphere. Very chill, laid back, college town vibe. Love the seating by the big front windows. Nice view of Main St. Took a little long to be seated, to place our order & to receive my beer. I figured they're just a little short staffed. The staff is friendly though! And the bearded manager is super cute! A flight of 4 beers is only $5! Pretty excited about that. Looks like they usually keep 11 beers on draft & all their own brews. I wanted a place that I could grab a beer but also bring my daughter. People's brewery is 21 and over, so we came here. Tried the Tippecanoe Common Ale, Marley's VSOP, Eighty-Five & Digby's Irish Stout. They were all pretty good! My favorite was probably Digby's Irish Stout. It's a little more tame at 4.8% ABV. They describe it as: cask conditioned, dry, light-bodied Irish stout. But like I said, they were all great. I will definitely visit this place again next time I'm in Lafayette :) read more

We wanted to try their specials and what we received was an utter shock. This restaurant has the audacity to serve what looks a piece of sandwich a 5 year old hastily made and call it "featured", charging you $10 for it. We also received a wrong order and asked what it was that I received, only for the server was rude about it. I felt dumbfounded that she was not even the slightest apologetic and instead asked "well, what can I do for you, you want a free dessert for that or what?" I just wanted the food I actually ordered after almost an hour of wait. She clearly didn't care because she wanted to rectify her mistake by throwing me a free dessert so I could shut up. I lost my words and couldn't say much before she left with "have a good night". Manager eventually came to talk to us later but only to defend her saying she is just always like that and that there was pretty much a miscommunication and misunderstanding on my part. No, I knew clearly what I was ordering, nice try. This was the first Lafayette restaurant I took my little cousin with and it was only an abhorrent experience. Never coming back to this place. I usually enjoy a burger and brews here but my last experience wasn't great. It was a Friday around 5 so the place was practically empty. I specifically asked for my burger to be Medium. It came out fully cooked..so it was very dry. The beer was warm. My friend ordered the special - a chicken quesadilla. The chicken was extremely dry and it lacked flavor. We didn't want to wait around an extra 20+ minutes to have everything remade so we sucked it up, mostly because we were very hungry from skipping lunch. PLUS, maybe it's just me, but I truly hate being wasteful. I also didn't have the guts to ask for both of our entire meals remade. Our server was also slow so we didn't get a chance to mention it to her after having our first bites. I'm hoping this was just a one time thing because i've never had an issue here before. 3 stars because although this experience was a big disappointment I KNOW they have some DELICIOUS JUICY burgers and COLD BEER hiding somewhere. read more

If you are visiting the Lafayette area, you have to try Lafayette Brewing Company for lunch or dinner! The restaurant is in a beautifully restored historic building. My favorite thing to order for lunch is the Cobb Salad. It is amazingly big with delicious grilled chicken, bacon, cheese, avocados, hard boiled eggs and other yumminess. They also have good burgers, wraps, hand breaded tenderloins and other great menu items. If I am there after hours, I love the Star City stouts when they are available. If you are here on the right night. you may get to enjoy a fun evening of live music on their 2nd floor. read more

And when he finally came to the table, the waiter was rude when we ordered an app midway through ordering, and then proceeded to argue when I said we have been waited 15 minutes. Are still waiting for food after an hour and 3 minutes. It is not busy in here, and I would not come back. Last time my food was cold, and came to give it another try. There's nothing there that I can say, yea that sounds good right now. Also, the atmosphere is kind of depressing on the weekend. It's pretty empty and usually an older crowd. Also, it's kind of dark. I'm not quire sure why. We stop by sometimes to have a beer and an appetizer. But I start to get depressed if we're there too late. Also, if Chumley's is too full we'll sometimes go to Lafayette Brewing company as a backup. That tells you something. Chumley's, Black Sparrow and Kirby's are always full but Lafayette Brewing Company never is. read more

My brother requested an egg fried hard for his burger (feel free to read his scathing review) and was denied! Only over easy. Wha???? My nephew asked for a plain burger only to receive one slathered in everything. My Tippy chicken was tasty- but after an hour, cardboard would have been acceptable. Tried this restaurant again to see if the service had improved. Went today (7/27/19) about 1:30 PM. The place was not busy. The sign said to please wait to be seated. After waiting 5 minutes and having three people who worked there pass by without acknowledging us someone finally said they'd be with us in a few minutes. She then headed out the front door, stopping to speak to two people who were coming in. She sat them immediately, left us standing at the host station and proceeded to walk out the door. Lafayette Brewing Company is one of the few non-chain places that are worth visiting in downtown Lafayette. You get to enjoy the charming downtown Lafayette corridor and it is far enough away from Purdue so not to be overwhelmed by students. We typically order the pepper-crusted "True Bleu" burger, which includes both a huge slice of bleu cheese and bleu cheese dressing; the addition of roasted garlic cloves kicks the burger up to the next level. I've also ordered the West Coast BLT a couple times, attracted by the avocado and garlic mayo toppings; the BLT is a good choice if you get overwhelmed on what to order, and don't want a heavy, bleu-cheese drenched burger. For sides, the pepper fries and garlic cheddar ale soup are okay, but nothing else was extraordinary (the poblano slaw had no bite unfortunately). Service can be slow-moving, but ultimately satisfying, especially if you catch the male server who is a huge book nerd and ask him for recommendations; maybe don't ask him on a super-busy night, for the sake of other customers. Prices are reasonable, root beer floats and stouts are recommended (especially the coffee stout, if on tap). read more
