You'll never get bored here. Whether you're in the mood to linger, take a slow walk, go for a run, or paddle around on one of the swan boats, this place meets you exactly where you are. Before returning to Tennessee, she wanted to experience the lake and see the wild lotus garden. It was a very sunny, hot and mildly humid day (after the rain). The park was busy, but we easily found street parking. There were lots of people walking the path along the lake, taking in the views of DTLA from the benches, watching the wildlife and enjoying the swan boat rentals. Everyone was respectful of each other. The path is about 1 mile with several shaded areas to take breaks. The lush greenery made for some really pretty pictures. Because of yesterday's rain, there were puddles of dirty water on the walkways and large muddy/poopy spots in the grass areas. And today's weather unfortunately made the experience a bit unpleasant with all the geese poop and smell of stagnant water. It was overall a nice experience but it's probably better to visit during dry, cooler weather.

There are holes and uneven spots around the slide and throughout the play area that look like trip hazards for kids. The play structure also appears worn, with visible graffiti and signs of neglect. For a recreation center that serves families and young children, this level of maintenance is unacceptable. Safety surfacing is there to help protect children when they fall, and it should be repaired before someone gets hurt. I hope the city addresses these issues soon because the playground has potential, but it clearly needs maintenance and resurfacing. It sadnesses me that I have to drive outside Los Angeles county in order for my children to experience a clean park.

Or, if you visit after dark befriend a neighborhood cat. There's a few that prowl around looking for scraps. I tried to say hi but they never let me get too close.

I ordered a specific skateboard deck from Concrete Visionary -- paid full price, waited patiently, and it took over a week just to process before it even shipped. Annoying, but fine... until it arrived. They didn't even send the right item. After waiting nearly two weeks for a deck I needed (because my skateboard is literally how I get to work), I opened the box and found something completely different from what I ordered. Mistakes happen, sure -- but the response I got from customer service is where this company completely fails. Instead of sending the correct item, apologizing, or offering a refund if it wasn't available, their "solution" was to tell me to keep the wrong deck and then offered me a discount code so I could pay AGAIN to get the one I was already supposed to receive. Read that again: Their mistake. My money. And they wanted me to spend MORE to fix it. This is not how reputable businesses operate. When a company sends the wrong product, they're supposed to send the correct one or refund the customer -- not turn it into another sales opportunity. Between the slow processing, the wrong item, and the insult of being told to spend more money to fix their error, this has been one of the worst online shopping experiences I've ever had. If you're thinking about ordering from here, just don't. There are dozens of skate shops that actually know how to treat their customers -- this clearly isn't one of them.

The weeds are high in some areas and the grass needs watering in other locations. Having said all that, it's a nice enough little park with at least one spot for an amazing view of downtown. I have never seen the movie, "(500) Days of Summer," but some people believe the striking view of downtown with the park bench in the foreground was shown in the movie. I can't vouch for that but that particular spot is gorgeous and perfect for a photo op. You'll know the spot when you see it. Worth checking out.
