Took my husband here for his birthday since we couldn't make our Paris trip! Hehe.. loved the miniature Eiffel Tower (which gets lit at night) it's a lovely shopping area with nice restaurants. We did happen across a lovely wine and tapas place called Vivinos. We also did check out a quaint gift shop called Stuf 'n such that had a variety of gifts at all price points. The lady at the store was very sweet and helpful. Will definitely be back to try the other restaurants. read more

Had a great experience! Definitely going back to try some more food. My group went originally to use our offline offer so we tried a few things on the menu. I got the raspberry lemon drop which was executed very well. The spicy asian voodoo wings as a starter were a good choice and very flavorful but not at all spicy. We then ordered the creole pasta, pub burger, and grilled pork chops for entrees. I would highly recommend the pub burger it was delicious!! The creole pasta was good but definitely could have used more of that creole spice and flavor. The grilled chops we had to send back because they were over cooked and just tasted way too charred. But once they brought out the new chops they were good and the mashed potatoes and veggies were delicious that came with it. We then got dessert and ordered the beignets and the deep dish apple pie. If you go here you definitely need to get the apple pie!! It was so good even though it's actually served cold. (Take it home and warm it up) the beignets came out pretty brown but they were perfect. Lafayette Village is an outdoor shopping center in Raleigh. Parking is around the perimeter or underground. Once you park, it is easy to walk around and explore. We stopped here for the first time to check out the Christmas pop up and grab something to eat. I was impressed with the feeling that you get whenever you walk into this place, it truly feels like you're in another country. The buildings were beautiful. I enjoyed just walking around taking everything in. They had a nice variety of stores to check out as well as restaurants. The pop up shops were pretty awesome too! It really gave you that holiday spirit. The only downside to this place was the parking situation. We literally circled the lot 3 times before finding an open spot. But don't let that stop you! The European influence is obvious at Lafayette Village. It's fun to walk around and check out all of the restaurants and shops. There's even an independent pharmacy. Because of Covid, we ate on the patio of one of the restaurants and didn't go into any of the shops, but enjoyed taking a "lap" around and making plans to visit again in the future. The patio where we ate had socially-distanced tables, but a lot of tables in other parts of the village appeared to be way too close. It didn't bother a lot of people, though. Parking is tough, at least on a Saturday afternoon! We finally found a spot in their underground parking garage, which has a stairway that leads to the village, but we didn't see an elevator for people with disabilities. Also, the sidewalks were very uneven in places, making it easy for people (including both of us!) to trip. read more

Lafayette Village is cute, it's a European style village. I was a fan of it before COVID, unfortunately I just don't like it during COVID. It was crowded since there was a pop-up market and the lighting of the Christmas tree. We walked around to check out the shops and the vendors for the market. I'd say that most were good about wearing a mask but there were enough not wearing masks and socially distancing to make you feel uncomfortable. In the end, it's a good place to shop for gifts and to grab a drink and/or dinner. read more

This is such a cute little shopping village in Raleigh! It's a shame that I've lived here for nearly 4 years and have never made my way over here. I got to speak with one of the owners when I visited and she described some of the businesses that are within the Village. She also let me know they have offices and an underground parking deck too. Underground?! That's cool. There is a lot of diversity here which is nice- whether you're looking to shop for gifts, grab a bite to eat, a specialty treat, or just enjoy some wine out in the courtyard, Lafayette Village seems like a great place to be. And yes, I did say drink wine in the courtyard! Apparently not many people know that you can actually buy a drink from one of the onsite businesses and then drink it anywhere in the Village. Parking isn't the best and the roadway/parking lot is pretty narrow! If you're a nervous driver, you'll probably not enjoy parking here. With covid, it's hard to feel safe getting back out into the real world like we used to, but in my opinion, this place seems like a decent option as long as it's not really busy, rules are followed, and you feel comfortable/are healthy. Personally, I'll probably be waiting a while until I go for a night out like good old times but I'm excited for the day I return! read more

They are small businesses and the owners actually care about their customers. Stop into Southern Craft Butchers and talk with Mark the owner and butcher about how best to cook the cut you are buying, or where the meat comes from. He will happily talk to you and answer your questions. The restaurants are all busy and the reason why they are is that the food is good, the service is good, and they all have great atmospheres. Stop by The Village, walk around and visit some of the stores. You will be surprised by some of the findings. read more

I am not a shopper, but this place can turn me into one. And no better time to do so than their Wine Walk for Charity, which is every third Thursday from 6-8pm. For a ten dollar donation, you are given a guide to the participating merchants, plus a wrist band and glass. Our list on this Thursday took us to an enjoyable variety. Honestly, I hadn't realized how many cool shops have gone into this location (being mostly a restaurant gal), but there are some fun gift shops, home decor, and clothing as well as an awesome cheese shop, spice shop (which was surprisingly not open for this event), a chocolate boutique, etc. Not to mention a cool new Crafty Beer. TIP: Check the website for other events. They are always doing something different, but I can personally recommend this Wine Walk event. read more

Lafayette Village on Falls of Neuse Road is its own destination. Great design elements including wrought iron, cobble stone and its own Eiffel Tower give a real feel of being in a small French town. Stores include a 5-star spice shop, a cheese shop, an oil and vinegar vendor, and a butchery, as well as a good variety of gift and decor shops, cafes, wine, coffee, and more. The open green that many shops face is used almost weekly to offer up an enticing reason to visit, from wine walks to seasonal festivals. Street parking circles the village, plus there is a below ground parking deck. A lovely, lively place to visit. read more

I don't know how many times I drove by Lafayette Village with my bride and said "We need to stop there some time" during the almost 8 years we've lived in the area. Finally made it happen while driving topless, out and about in the little "fun" car. If you've ever visited the "Paris" casino in Vegas, and looked around at how the casino is decorated to look like a street with shops/apartments and the like, then you get it - you just saw a similar rendition of Lafayette Village. It was Sunday afternoon, and some of the stores were already closed by the time we got around to them (like the bakery). We did get there in time to check out The Olive Wagon, Savory Spice and a gift shop or two. The layout and appearance is quaint, but as others have pointed out, the parking leaves a great deal to be desired. There is a wide open courtyard like space, plenty of open green grass and a little bit of shade to block some direct sunlight. The layout is also strange in that the sidewalks end before you get around a building... so one has to walk into the parking lot for a ways before they find the sidewalk again. We went here yesterday for Oktoberfest. It was okay. They didn't have many vendors for food.... Mostly beer. We really wanted to taste German food! Favorite part was the wiener dog races. So darn cute!! The shops were okay. Not a lot to do for a "festival". I don't think I'd be back. They need to add more to do here!! read more

Just to be clear, I love a lot of the shops in Lafayette Village, and they have separate reviews. However, I'm not crazy about the shopping center itself. First, the parking is pretty bad. There aren't enough spaces unless you go in the middle of the day. And, there is additional parking under the structure, but it isn't well marked so it's hard to find the stairs/exits. Then, you do exit the parking garage onto the patio of one of the restaurants right in the middle of tables. Ends up as a sort of awkward introduction to the shopping center. Second, everything seems to close down at 6 or 7pm, other than a few restaurants. This is distinctly un-European (or at least based on my experiences from living there). The place is literally a dead-zone after dark, unlike some of the other shopping areas. Third, the whole pre-planned, matching thing just isn't my thing. It's quintessential North Raleigh, however. It is cute, but it completely lacks personality. The shops don't get to personalize the outside of their space hardly at all, and the shops are pretty tightly cramped together. I do give it two stars because I do love a lot of the shops and restaurants there, and I'm glad to have somewhere to eat/shop in North Raleigh that isn't a big brick box. read more

Definite potential in this cute little Euro-style shopping center. I think it needs to (and is working to) become a destination retail spot like North Hills or Cameron Village... a place that's peppered with diverse, unique shops and restaurants that folks will want to come and spend their afternoon -- and their money -- at. I visited specifically to check out Vino Finos -- an Argentine-focused wine shop that also serves a few small plates (cheese and charcuterie, and some tasty sounding empanadas). Afterwards, we circled around to see what else was open -- unfortunately, some of the businesses I wanted to drop in on (like the spice shop) were closed. So I'll have to come back another time for that, and to try some gelato, visit Antonio's, and eat in one of the restaurants. A lot of the storefronts are not yet filled, and it will be nice to see what arrives to flesh out the space. There's a nice internal courtyard for walking/dining, designed so that the parking lot surrounds the 'oasis' of stores. Smart. But I think it will take a few more shops to really get it on the map as a North Hills competitor. read more

Very quaint and unusual shopping area. There is a little Eiffell Tower here! Built like a small French village. Nice for a mini-mini escape from home. I enjoy just strolling around, it's a great summer spot. I wish it was more common to find an oasis like this in the triangle. If you are from France or spent a significant time there, I can see why you would find the whole concept a bit cheesy with the facts about France around the shopping area. But, either way, I like it. There are a lot of niche boutiques and interesting restaurants (so far I have only tried Driftwood restaurant). Also, easy access just off of 540. read more

I've been to Lafayette Village several times now and most recently for the French and Seafood Market Festival. In the past I have visited just to go to a particular restaurant, but during the festival I really enjoyed walking around and soaking in the whole village. There were plenty of cute shops to browse and some other specialty spots that make Lafayette Village unique to the area. There are not many shopping areas where you can go to a cheese shop, then next door to a spice shop and ALSO an olive oil shop. While I haven't been to France, this is what I imagine it must be like. It is very aesthetically pleasing, with some peaceful fountains, spiraling staircases (that you can't climb) and their mini version of the Eiffel Tower. It all really adds to the ambiance and feel of the place. One problem with Lafayette Village seems to be the parking. While there is a parking deck, during busy events it looks like it could fill up quickly and there is some struggle to find street parking. Luckily we found a spot in the office building next door, but even that was almost full. As for the restaurants, the coffee and sweet biscuits from Jubala are always fantastic and I've only had great food at Village Grill and Driftwood. But during my latest visit I realized there is so much more to try! I want to try out the milkshakes from JoCa's sooooo bad so I will definitely be venturing here during the summer for a cold treat! read more

This must be a great summer spot. I came here towards the end of the winter season, and it was quite the ghost town. I guess nobody wants to hang out on the lawn when its frigid outside... However, I quite enjoyed the time we spent at Lafayette Village. The whole look of the place takes you to another place and another time. If you're anything like me, you are constantly looking for an oasis like this one. The coffee spot, Jubala, is wonderful. Their BLT is finger-licking good. The guy at the cheese shop was really sweet and answered all of my ridiculous cheese questions. The chocolate shoppe even offers chocolate making classes! All in all, I recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know. ENJOY! read more

So charming! Reminded me of my visits to Europe. I understand that was the inspiration for this place so I could not wait to see for myself. Fountains, window floral arrangements and a mini Eiffel Tower sets the tone of what to expect when you park. We went for breakfast on sunday. Only two places are open early the rest of the shops open at noon. We were there with our Lil one who enjoyed playing in the grass area..throwin coins in the fountains and strolling thru the village. Imagine this. Within the hubbub of everyday life, you have this sanctuary. It brings you peace whenever you go and it renews your spirit. That's what Lafayette Village does for me. The Village is not just a place to eat and shop, but it's alive with the very heartbeat of beauty itself. From the stone pathways and gorgeous architecture to the flowers that are so delicately planted, you will not be disappointed if you genuinely love artistic places. In regards to the restaurants and shops, They each hold their own authenticity and uniqueness. For example: Simply Crepes - Looks like a villa of sorts, or perhaps a tea room, and when those giant crepes come out, you are simply delighted by life and perfectly happy with your choice. Driftwood - The only way that I can describe this restaurant is rustically modern. The colorful metal chairs propel that rustic look while the graphite looking floor confirms the modern look. The food is fantastic and savory, the staff has never disappointed, and you seriously feel like you are entering a whole new world when you step into this facility. The Chocolate Boutique - Reasonably priced, decadent, scrumptious chocolate and some of the friendliest staff that I have ever encountered. That's all I have to say. Just Go. Stuff N Such - As you might be able to tell, I love art and beautiful, unique things. Stuff N Such is filled with such things. First, the name of the store is exactly how I would describe the inside of it. There's artwork lining the walls, and several random and fun items within. You could be in there for an hour looking at and buying all the neat things. There are many more amazing places that I could mention, but that would ruin the pleasant surprise of visiting Lafayette Village yourself and experiencing the French inspired sanctuary. One last thing I will say is that I have walked in the Village feeling kind of low (just from it being a typical lousy day) , and in a few hours, I would walk out feeling like a brand new woman. Getting a massage at The Spa, my nails done at Love Nails, a brand new outfit at GiGi's, and a healthy meal at Fresh Levant could completely transform your unhappy day to a very relaxed and wonderful one. Lafayette Village allows me to return to Europe again and again. What a lovely visit. Some people might think it's an unusual shopping spot in Raleigh, but I really appreciate having a European village just down the road over in North Raleigh. First of all, Lafayette Village is not only a shopping center, but a community hub. From April to October, they have a Wine Walk for Charity on the third Thursday of each month. No, it's not a marathon; it's a casual walk throughout a number of participating merchants' businesses to get a taste of whatever wine or snacks they're offering. Upon conclusion of the wine walks, in October, they have movies shown "on the green," as in their little courtyard. Additionally, they have a number of other festive or holiday events, such as "Halloween in the Village" and a "Lighting of the Tree" at Christmastime. Besides the appearance of the building designs, which make it resemble a village, is the impeccable classy array of businesses. There are some professional offices in the Executive Office Suite, which are closed off. There are a number of restaurants, unique shops, boutiques, and service-oriented shops. Looking for a casual eating or drinking exploration? There's a bottle shop, Crafty Beer Shop, a cheese shop, Orrman's Cheese Shop, a chocolate shop, The Chocolate Boutique, and an olive oil shop, The Olive Wagon. There's plenty of options when it comes to decor and gifts. You'll find Ora Designers and Fine Jewelers, which polished my ring on the wine walk, Lydia's Gifts, which has a number of home goods and unique gifts, Oxford Green, which has really nice decor and gifts, and Gigi's, a nice clothing and jewelry boutique. If you're hungry after exploring, there are plenty of options: Jubala Coffee Shop, Vinos Finos wine and tapas, Village Grill (more of a sports bar), Sushi One, and Simply Crepes. Farina's Neighborhood Italian, a new spot, was rude to us when we walked in just as the wine walk had concluded so we didn't waste a minute or a dime purchasing any wine when other venues still welcomed us. Plus, we ended up having a crepe at Simply Crepes since they were so friendly. If you haven't wandered over to where Falls of Neuse almost hits 540, I would bet you'll be very pleased you did make your way to the little village with an eiffel tower in front of it. read more

This is, overall, a great place to eat, sip, relax, and shop, and parking is usually ample in the underground lot around back. Especial highlights include Jubala Village Coffee (best beans & baristas in the Triangle), Vinos Finos wine and tapas, Sushi One, Savory Spice Shop, the Olive Wagon and Paparazzi's.
