There are so many seafood spots nearby too and there's even a pontoon rental or tours to the beautiful Shell Island, which I unfortunately missed out on but won't be making that mistake the next time around. Panama City Beach is a mix of perfect sand and warm temps. Yes it's that spring break spot so great for college students during that time and I'd probably steer clear during that time of the year but any of other time of the year it's the place to be for everyone else!

We were never bothered by anyone as long as we remained quiet during the late hours. Beach Access 11 is easy to reach but can get crowded, especially during the morning and evening hours, particularly during spring break when many people are enjoying the beach. The best time to visit is early morning when it's less crowded. If you want to avoid the crowds, it's best to go at night when hardly anyone is around; I recommend it. Keep in mind that this beach access is next to houses, so parking will likely be difficult if you don't arrive early.

I was able to enjoy my cup of coffee to the tune of crashing waves and the sound of seagulls. Amazing!! I'm not the biggest fan of sand for obvious reasons. It literally gets everywhere!!! Ha ha - it's so pretty though! My only regret is not coming here sooner during our trip. I will definitely return as I really liked the location in general. The Sunset Cruise was a blast with more Dolphins than I have ever seen, and I have been on several. The Dolphin Snorkel tour was wonderful. Brian took us to 2 different snorkel spots. After that we went on a great ride, learning some history of the area and after a bit of searching we got more dolphins, with one swimming right in front of the boat. I highly recommend both trips. It would be great if Brian's boat was cleared for going out into the Gulf.

Still, I did a day hike on Gator Trail with THE Mr. Freckles McWolfington, and we had a blast. He wasn't happy about being stuck on leash, but it IS called Gator Trail for a reason. When we got back to the trailhead, we walked over to the little deck and were treated to a terrifying growl from what was either the biggest gator in Florida or a T-Rex, we weren't sure. First time hearing a gator growl - it was so freaking cool. If you get a chance, come out for a walk and some time on the beach - no dogs allowed, though (don't tell Freki I called him a dog, please).

When we arrived, the main bathroom toilet was clogged and didn't flush;…read morewent to the beach and the beach access code they sent 2 hours before check in was wrong; after the beach went to take a shower and only 1 towel (unit is for 9 people) - ruined Birthday dinner since we couldn't take showers; stains on the bunk bed comforter; trash/muffin wrappers on top of the washer/dryer visible from top bunk; lit the BBQ pit and went inside to get burgers - obviously not cleaned in a long time, it smoked up and set the smoke alarm off - ruined another dinner; main bedroom light/fan broken - kept reporting and maintenance man came to fix the last of 4 nights, took the light/fan down AND put it on the comforter - couldn't get it fixed and said they would have to call in an electrician. Called to complain several times after check out and was told manager Stacey or Karen would call me. Been several weeks and never received a call. Travel to this area twice a year and have never had problems. First and LAST time with Panhandle Getaways!

Barges and boats will dock here and there is frequently a concession boat since the island has no amenities. A little walk towards the gulf will bring you midway to a "kiddie pool" safe for kids to swim and play in or adults to relax. The water is truly great in both those spots. The gulf here is absolutely beautiful. There are small intact and crushed shells on the beach line and in the water about knee deep there are medium shells if you dig around. Waist deep are where the large shells are. There are plenty of these but you have to work for them. Bring goggles, flippers, etc. and it will be easy. We went on a day when the jelly larva were swarming so we stayed knee deep and still enjoyed ourselves and got a few good shells. If there had been no jellies we could have found A LOT more and bigger ones for sure. The further you walk down the gulf side the more secluded you will be. Get there on first boat out!
