This lively place has it all; beach bars, families building sandcastles, and people parasailing/riding jetskis. There are so many seafood spots nearby too and there's even a pontoon rental or tours to the beautiful Shell Island, which I unfortunately missed out on but won't be making that mistake the next time around. Panama City Beach is a mix of perfect sand and warm temps. Yes it's that spring break spot so great for college students during that time and I'd probably steer clear during that time of the year but any of other time of the year it's the place to be for everyone else!

My neighborhood best friend, Charlotte's family, included me on their family vacation to PCB to stay in a motel with a *swimming pool* in PCB one summer when we were around ten or eleven years old. I still fondly remember our version of "crabbing" where we got a. a flashlight and b. a plastic bucket and scoured the actual PC beach at sundown to catch tiny crabs. We had so much fun doing this and absolutely begged her Momma to let us take them home and keep them as pets, which, of course was denied, and we would sadly release the little guys back to the edge of the Gulf! Fast forward a few years and my high school Sorority stayed either one or two weeks in a much nicer hotel in PCB with our fraternity brothers acting as chaperones (along with real chaperones). We girls worked so hard to earn the money for this trip meaning: gas, food, one night out to Captain Anderson's for a dinner cruise, one night out at a club (with fake IDs), any additional cash we would need (beer, putt-putt, additional clubbing nights) etc. We sailed in Hobie Cats for several days, and all wore our best spaghetti-strapped dresses and open toed shoes for our Captain Anderson's dinner cruise!! We were never bothered by anyone as long as we remained quiet during the late hours. Beach Access 11 is easy to reach but can get crowded, especially during the morning and evening hours, particularly during spring break when many people are enjoying the beach. The best time to visit is early morning when it's less crowded. If you want to avoid the crowds, it's best to go at night when hardly anyone is around; I recommend it. Keep in mind that this beach access is next to houses, so parking will likely be difficult if you don't arrive early.

I was able to enjoy my cup of coffee to the tune of crashing waves and the sound of seagulls. Amazing!! I'm not the biggest fan of sand for obvious reasons. It literally gets everywhere!!! Ha ha - it's so pretty though! My only regret is not coming here sooner during our trip. I will definitely return as I really liked the location in general. Calypso 605 STINKS...literally! We walked in and the musty smell hit us in the face. We had several…read moreissues with the room, ice-maker didn't work, commode broken to finish coming off cabinets. We brought this to management attention and I assume they fixed the ice-maker because it started working but the stink was there to stay. They offered to fix the commode but at that point we just wanted it to be over. The condo was in need of an overall refresh including paint and a deep clean. You had to wear shoes inside because the floors were so filthy! When we asked about some consideration on the fees we were told management was looking into but nothing after that, even after repeated texts. We've booked with Panhandle Getaways several times over the years w/satisfactory experience. Not sure if they've changed management or what.

Barges and boats will dock here and there is frequently a concession boat since the island has no amenities. A little walk towards the gulf will bring you midway to a "kiddie pool" safe for kids to swim and play in or adults to relax. The water is truly great in both those spots. The gulf here is absolutely beautiful. There are small intact and crushed shells on the beach line and in the water about knee deep there are medium shells if you dig around. Waist deep are where the large shells are. There are plenty of these but you have to work for them. Bring goggles, flippers, etc. and it will be easy. We went on a day when the jelly larva were swarming so we stayed knee deep and still enjoyed ourselves and got a few good shells. If there had been no jellies we could have found A LOT more and bigger ones for sure. The further you walk down the gulf side the more secluded you will be. Get there on first boat out!
