Uqpdate. My friend picked up her dog within 45 minutes of me posting the first part and they gave her a hard time about my review. How needy. Is that why they take so long in helping you, because they are always refreshing Yelp? Instead of overbooking and refreshing Yelp, why don't you just respect people's time? I would like to add that one employee did seem helpful and offered me use of the bathroom for my IBS. They have each been seen by both Dr. Byrd and Dr. Martin. The level of attention to detail and care is PHENOMENAL. I am never pressured and I feel I am always provided with options. Never up-sold. The technicians are also world-class! So many times techs can be undertrained or have poor communication skills, but not these! Shout-out to Jessica in particular. To be clear, this is not for actual services because they were not available to see me. This rating is for bad customer service as it was clear I had an emergency and they did nothing. I was visiting and took my senior dog first thing in the morning because I thought he was having seizures. He is 18 and had never experienced anything like that so I thought the matter urgent. The receptionist said they did not have an appointment until 11am and did not recommend any other place I could take him. Very disappointed by the lack of helpfulness. It was a patient of theirs that ended up walking me to my car and recommended another clinic nearby. I drove to that clinic and they could not take me due to all day surgeries, but they at least directed me to Central Coast Pet Hospital and ER and even wrote out directions. That's where I ended up receiving services and they were wonderful. Please do better to help incoming patients find help if you have to turn them away or do not have appointments available- they could be in serious need. read more

The vets went out of their way to help my cat right before Christmas time when my cat cut her paw while we were camping in our RV. Super stressful while traveling, but they made it less so with their arrangements to meet me to get my cat and then drop her off at the campground after. read more

I brought my cat Momo in who suddenly fell ill. I was super worried and called in, got in the same day. Dr.Martin was very thorough and assuring. Momo was able to get fluids and the antibiotics she needed. She was back to eating and drinking an hour after picking her back up! read more

While on vacation, we needed to have our fur baby checked out, this clinic had good reviews and justifiably so! The office is tucked at the back of a little strip mall not far off the freeway, parking wasn't a problem as there are several available in front and a dirt lot just past the strip mall if you have a large vehicle (like a RV). When I called, they were able to see her that day and requested records from my primary vet just to make sure they had the full picture of her health issues before proceeding. All the staff were friendly and caring, Dr. Martin was very thorough and really took the time to understand her conditions, my concerns, and explain the possibilities as well as options on how to proceed. They handled her with care and compassion, especially since she wasn't feeling 100%. Along with fluids and a B12 shot, they were able to get lab results back the next day and provide recommendations. If I lived here, they would be my vet of choice and if the need arises to be in the area and need a vet, I know where to go. read more

I was not satisfied with my brief experience with this vet ! I got 2 kittens from Feline Rescue in SLO, & a free vet appointment. The " free" appointment ending up costing $120.00..... they needed to do lab work for suspected ringworm. Next visit came meds for ringworm for another $100.00+. Long story short, I took the kittens to our established vet who said the ringworm was a mis- diagnosis - just an allergy. I don't like to make a judgement on a onetime experience....but, fair warning to pay attention & ask for pricing in advance. read more

We were visiting the area when one of our labs had a bad reaction to eating some fatty meat juice. After a couple of days with her not getting better I gave Morro Bay Vet a call. They were able to see her immediately with a drop off appt. and had a diagnosis of pancreatitis within a couple of hours. We were able to pick her up with instructions and medications by early afternoon. They were so nice and helpful. read more

Can't recommend this office enough! They were able to squeeze me in on very short notice, despite having a full day. The staff is so joyful, caring, considerate and attentive. As a first time pet owner and our first visit to the vet, I couldn't have felt more comfortable. Dr. Byrd took great care of my pup and answered all the questions I had. Extra, extra nice people in this office. We had to board our two for the first time in their 14 year lives, and as most fur-baby parents, we were worried about leaving them. The worst experience I've ever had with a vet, this was a while back but will never forget how my dog and myself were treated. I took my dog 3 days in a row with nothing but bad results, my guy couldn't lift his head from the floor. Took him to a emergency clinic and both ear drums had been burst when M.BV.C. did minor surgery to remove a couple foxtails with the end result being double ear infection. Was offered 37.00 to resolve my issues with them... bite me, keep your , 2000.00 later my guy could lift his head and begin healing.... UNPROFESSIONAL ! read more

After a pretty stressful time dealing with another boarding facility in SLO we found Morro Bay Vet Clinic. It was Easter weekend and we desperately needed to find a boarding facility for one night. I'm extremely picky with my pups - they're my babies and deserve to be treated well! I researched MB and found out they had not only heated floors for the pups, but fairly large kennels for a very good price. The overnight price was actually the same as a day boarding price. They had availability and were super kind to us. My only concern was that there was a period of about 10 hours that the dogs were left along in the kennel. So depending on your needs keep this in mind. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. 1. Charged me for a 6 month supply of flea control when I only received a 1 month supply - immediately pointed out their mistake. Took 3 months and a bad review to receive a refund. 2. At our euthanasia appointment had contacted an unethical rescue prior to our appointment without our knowledge or consent. 3. After shaming my husband for forty minutes at our euthanasia appointment, my husband had enough and walked out with our dog. Dr. Martin and a vet tech, Jess, chased him into the parking lot demanding to know where we were taking our own dog. I had spoken on the phone with Dr. Byrd earlier that day explaining how our dog was not doing well and she had told me multiple times that she respected my decision to euthanize. 4. They repeatedly discussed details from our dog's confidential medical records following his death attempting to make myself appear negligent for things I brought him in to treat (skin infection, fleas, etc) and lied about their actions to appear in a better light with the community utilizing social media and word of mouth, which resulted in spit on my windshield. 5. I boarded my animals (cat & dog) at Morro Bay Veterinary Clinic during a trip last year, and when I picked them up BOTH of their blankets were soaked in urine. read more

I just love the vet and the staff. They have taken great care of our dogs and cat for about 12 years. We boarded our two dachshunds for years. They are very caring. They do not have 24 hour staff on but do have staff on weekends. Very reasonably priced. Be sure your animals are fully vaccinated and have a Bortadilla shot so they can stay. read more

Short version - We paid $138 to be told our dogs tooth was fine and no action was needed. Long version - Very unhappy with our experience at this vet. We brought our 10 month old puppy in because we noticed she had a broken tooth. She has an underbite and her bottom front teeth are visible at all times, and one had broken in half so we wanted to make sure it wasn't causing her pain. We paid $58 for a consultation where Dr. Martin examined her tooth and wrote "That fractured tooth is starting to die off and would be best to get it extracted before it leads to further issues." They gave us a $287 -$387 estimate for the procedure and we set a date. We took her back for the extraction and left her there after following the pre anesthesia instructions of no food after the previous evening, etc. They called us later saying that she had been put under anesthesia before they re-examined the tooth and decided it did not in fact need to be pulled. Their notes state "We placed Juni under anesthesia for further evaluation of her fractured incisor. Luckily, there is no pulp exposure, so therefore extraction was not necessary." They charged us $80 for the completely unnecessary anesthesia. The tooth is very visible and she is an extremely well mannered 12 pound non aggressive dog that gets her teeth brushed almost daily. They could have checked the tooth without putting her under, which resulted in her pooping on the car seat on the drive home and crying all day while she came out of it. And then charging $80 for their mistake. We paid $138 to be told her tooth was fine. We will not be returning to this vet. read more

We were also offered a free visit with Dr Byrd to discuss our dogs diet. Dr. Neal and his team are great! They have been taking care of my dogs for more than 10 years. He is so good that a close friend in LA comes up with her dogs specifically for his care. I like that, for a major checkup they ask you to leave your pet. It makes it easier on them and helps dis-associate you from your pet and an unpleasant experience. But they would certainly allow you to wait if you wanted. read more

Took my cat to have a cyst removed from her tail. It was a simple operation and the cat was home after a couple of hours. The bill was 520 dollars. In addition they did not provide enough pain medication for the recovery and charged me another 50 dollars to get enough meds to get her through recovery. I took the bill to another vet and he said he would have charged between 250 and 270 for that procedure. Unless you have a lot of money and want to be cheated by a vet i would advise you go elsewhere. Oh and i did complain to them and they said they would get back to me. read more

Okay let's start with I'm not from the area we're Camping at Morro Strand Campground, which we do often, our 14 pound Poodle got a Foxtail In his ear much deeper than we could find or get to, he was in a great deal of pain and I was desperate to help him. I called MBVC at 7:59 am on Wednesday morning, koodos to them they answered the phone, talked with someone briefly, she was doing the phones and checking people in, took my number and said she would call me back. 20 minuets later I called again, talked to someone else they said they had my number and would call back. After another 20 minuets I called again, they again said they had my number and would call me back! Well needless to say I started looking elsewhere, I called Cambria Veterinary Clinic and immediately got an appointment and headed to Cambria, the Staff at CVC was very friendly took us right in, Dr. Erickson went right to work checking Quincy's Ear and after several try's was able to remove a Foxtail digging into his Ear Drum. We left feeling like he had been our Veterinarian for years and Medication for Quincy's Ear. It is now as I'm writing this review 4:45pm and I have yet to be called by MBVC! In conclusion take the short pleasant drive to Cambria and feel like you and your four legged Fuzzy Fur Baby are Family and as importantly them as they are to you! read more

Dr Neal has been our Vet since1989. In those years he and his staff have provided kind compassionate care to our many dogs and cats. I trust him to know and do whats best for the little guys who can't tell you what's wrong.
