Alex is a good mechanic and knowledgeable. That said, I have had two services from him. Breaks! Kinda an important function. The first ended in my ABS light coming on. I called and told them about it and waited for a call back that never came. The ABS light finally went off. So I guess it is ok. And most recently "wheel hub with bearing" replacement. I was charged $59.73 for "shop supplies" which was a total for ALL estimated repairs. I paid upfront for the parts which was $673.94 and then charged tax again on that amount and the balance. In total $1624.20 which by the way is a service that should have been tops $1200. The end result is they have lost my future business approximately $2000+ because of the petty overcharges. Make sure before you agree to the estimate you check prices. HORRIBLE price gouging. read more

After months trying to even find a willing shop, several "expert" Wailuku transmission mechanics misdiagnosed my Lexus transmission lunge from 2nd to 1st gear. A few suggested that I drop a $2-3K rebuilt transmission to solve the problem. Alexis correctly diagnosed the electrical problem over the phone. He ordered the part, installed it and saved wear & tear, precious time and several thousand $$$. Scheduled an appointment to get an oil change and the lady that answered the phone didn't put me down for an oil change...she put me down to put air in my tires! Why would I schedule an appointment for that when I can just go to the gas station? They ended up not being able to take me because the idiot lady scheduled me for the wrong thing. I took time off of work to get this done. I will be telling everyone to either not go here or to make sure that this lady can actually make a damn appointment right!!! read more

I brought my car here to get my ac fixed, was blowing hot air. A friend suggested this place as I have never heard of it. the couple who owned it were nice but after spending a lot of money to have my ac recharged, he only " assumed" it should need to be recharged, he called me to come pick it up, he ended up fixing my ac vent which was filthy and my ac, picked my car up drove around still hot ac, drove all over thinking maybe it needs to be driven a while to get going ( I have no idea anything about cars). Was still hot, called them back and let them know, brought it back in for another diagnosis. Turns out the whole thing needed to be re down in which he would charge me another over 1,000 to redo the whole thing. My complain, he mis diagnosed my car and wanted to charge me another over grand to fix it. Had he done a through diagnosis in the first place would of saved me money and not waste any of our time. I couldn't trust this, I took it to another place down the street. They couldn't believe what they were seeing and pissed I got ripped off. Having to re do my whole ac, the second place did a full diagnosis and fixed it. Unfortunately for me, I had to pay twice to get my ac fixed, the receipt didn't make sense, he charged me twice and over priced me, basically ripping me off. I do not recommend here. read more

I have an Audi A6 3.2 quattro and my Ac was not working , a lot of mechanics didn't want even to look at it because is a complicated car . I have been to west maui auto repair and after one hour they told me the compressor is dead and it will cost me 2000$ the repair . After I met through a friend, Alex the owner and mechanic of Lahaina Auto Repair , after half of hour he told me I lose pressure through a sensor and the cost of repair is 350$ . He order the sensor and I came back after 3 days , in two hours my car was done and AC was blowing cold .He even solved my airbag light and tire pressure light . Any problem that I have with my car or motorcycle from now one , I will go directly to him . He is onest , reliable and the best mechanic I ever talked to.
