We got a flat tire on our rental while in Lahaina, and thankfully we got the spare on and made the shirt drive to Ed's Union Service, which is part of the gas station there in the corner. Ed was a nice guy, and helped us examine the tire and explained what happened with the patch on the tire and if it was something the rental car company overlooked, or just bad luck on the highway (it was the latter). A related note, the silver lining to needing car maintenance is that this station also happens to be where Manuela's Malasadas cart is, so fresh, hot malasadas while you wait is a nice consolation. read more

However he recommended another west side tyre company to me which did and I was able to book there. Great service and value in Lahaina. Normally I purchase my tires from Costco or other businesses. I called Costco and they didnt have my tire size in stock and I was told that the order would take 2 to 3 weeks to come in. I called Goodyear and they were out. This is my first time purchasing from Ed's Union 76. This place is a staple service station in Lahaina. Local owned and I actually had friends employed there in the past. Doug was really helpful and cool. They were busy and that is good. The tires were priced comparable to Costco and was cheaper then Goodyears quote. They have always been quick with tire orders. Always arrive the next day. But for the last oil change they did, the light kept coming on after for change oil as if they didnt do it. Even my vehicle app was still giving me an alert of oil change still needed. I thought maybe its just an error...but went to dealership and they changed the oil and the light went away right then. We came to Ed's 76 on our way out of Lahaina because it's one of a few gas stations on that side of the highway and we needed to fill up. It wasn't busy at all at 5:30pm on a Thursday and so we were easily able to find an open pump which there are about 10-12 of. Gas was $3.21 a gallon for regular unleaded which was the same price at other gas stations around town so prices are competitive. There is also a small market/store that sells drinks and snacks and whatnot but we didn't have a chance to go inside. The only downside to this gas station is that it's hard to get back out onto the highway after filling up. Lahainaluna Road which you have to turn on to get out, backs up and is super busy. We had to wait through a few signals, but eventually we were able to get on our way. read more

We are geezers and our car broke down while we were driving to Kahului to ship it to Oregon. Although Bruce was very busy and there was a line of sick/injured cars ahead of us, he quickly squelched the stress festival we were in the throes of with a big smile and the words "Don't worry - I've got this, I'll get it fixed for you" And that he did - before long, we were on our way, and our car did not miss the boat - we simply cannot thank him enough for his kindness and quick expert service! This is my go to for when my tires blow out. They almost all the time have my tires. Especially in those emergency cases. A long time ago, maybe 13 years ago, my tires were really bad, I had 2 small Keiki in the car and he was looking at something else. He couldn't let me leave the lot without fixing my tires since I had kids in the car. He was a god send , he fixed both my tires with the money I had ( wasn't at all full price) figured it would be safe to share this years later . He has had my business eve since. I go to have my liquids checked, gas & always down to help when needed. It's the only trust worthy tire place in Lahaina. The ONLY ONE, for tires. While my family and I we're on vacation in Maui, our rental car got a flat tire. The rental had no spare tire! It was very late at night and we were in route to our hotel. We drove to 3 other gas stations, which claimed to have NO air. I noticed that the auto repair shop at this 76 gas station was closed, however out of desperation I asked the convenience store clerk for some help. He literally closed the store, and proceeded to open the shop in order to assist us. After inspection, he came to the conclusion that my tire had a nail in it...slow leak. He turned the air compressor on and saved us! I made an attempt to pay him for his service and insisted. He politely declined. This is the best place to go if you need tires or car serviced on Maui. I recently moved off island but was reminded how grateful I was to this service station during a conversation with one of my friends from Lahaina. She needs to get a tire replaced and I recalled my experience and referred her here. When I needed one new tire, I first went to TWarehouse. There, I was told they were charging me for an estimate then quoted me $1200 for the repairs. They claimed that I needed all new tires and new breaks. What?! That was totally wrong. My tires were fairly new, I had just hit something and it damaged one tire. I knew my breaks were fine. I left there and drove directly to Ed's. I asked the owner to look at the tires and check the breaks for me, just in case. He looked at everything (at no charge) and told me I needed to replace the one tire. Exactly what I thought. Less than an hour later, I had my one new tire and saved about $1,000 by going to see him. In a nut shell, good quality work at very fair prices, and they won't try to sell you services that aren't needed. read more

They fixed the problem and wouldn't let me pay for it. Then when I needed to get new tires this week, they were able to get me in same day and offered prices similar to Costco. This place is shady, and the guy who runs it (Doug) is rude. We just had a screw in the tire of our rental, and that's apparently $35 (the non-locals price I'm assuming). Hey, we're at the mercy of whatever this guy wants to charge since there are only 2 spots in town that patch tires, but that's a ridiculous price. When we politely asked why the steep price for such a quick/easy fix- he tried to tell us that he's under liability because it's a rental car. Umm. 2 thumbs down, second offense. First off, if you say first come, first serve on a simple tire repair that was dropped off at 7:30 am and was first in line, I would think it would be done by noon. Then to become upset with me because I was surprised that you hadn't even touched it yet and to send me to Tire Warehouse instead, now that's "quality" service. Never again. Not to mention while under construction, there are workers pumping gas into an open 50 gallon rusted drum and using it to transport into another ground tank? Can that even be legal? Just in case anyone is looking for a licensed mechanic in Lahaina. I can confidently recommend Bruce of 76 Gas Station in Lahaina. He is a Master Licensed Technician. I recently had to take my Toyota FJ in for a VERY loud noise that was coming from the idler pulley. Bruce was so welcoming and took my car in and said he would follow up with me with a diagnosis. Sure enough, Bruce followed up with an explanation of the issue and also found that my water pump had to be replaced. Which I was not surprised about as I noticed prior to taking my car in that water was leaking from the bottom of the front area of my FJ. Although Bruce was busy, my car repairs were completed in a few days. When I went to pick up my car, Bruce took the time to explain what had happend to my car again and also showed me the parts that were replaced. Ed's Union Service Station is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! Recently I had the displeasure of going to Ed's gas station at 243 Lahainaluna Rd in Lahaina, Maui. Hawaii. I Found my dealings with the owner was disappointing and the owner was very rude and unprofessional. I was looking for a deep charge battery that was designed to be drained down to zero charge and than recharged without destroying the battery. The owner of Ed's Union Gas Station falsely disclosed he had such a battery and it was in his inventory. The next day I learned the dishonest owner had zero integrity. At the point of purchase the owner's true colors were evident. The owner did not have the battery that I requested for and this miss disclosure was just a waste of my time. This was when the owner realizing he was not going to make a sale hung up on the phone. This pathetic business consists a relative of the owner and a jerk (aka owner). The relative barely speaks understandable English and represents Ed's Gas station. The owner is rude, lacks integrity and runs a shady business. I recently learned this shady business also has the same reputation with some other residents of Maui. If it was possible to rate Ed' Union Gas Station a rating lower than one star, it would better reflect the true low and deserving rate.
