Worst property management company around! Paid $4k for a weekly rental on Fort Myers Beach. Advertised as 5 bedrooms, beach towels, beach chairs, sleeps 16. This place is so run down. Zero beach towels, two broken beach chairs, barely enough bath towels and room #5 has no AC. Three days later, multiple calls with zero resolution. Well it all started good. Excellant location and a view to die for. This was our second stay at Bliss Cottage managed by Lahaina Island Accommodations. 2 years ago it went without a hitch but apparently something had changed. We arrived on Saturday and the first thing we noticed was, in the trash can area, all 5-6 trashcans were full but whatever (maybe Monday was trash day)?? The next thing we noticed as odd (we have stayed in many condo rentals over the years) that there was no "Check-In list" (you know, the list to make sure everything that was to be there was there). Also in the paperwork was a note to "MAKE SURE THE TRASH WAS TAKEN OUT WEDNESDAY NIGHT". We asked about this 2 years ago and were informed to take the kitchen trash, etc., down to the trashcan area for pickup. OK not a problem BUT this year it apparently means TAKE ALL THE TRASH CANS TO THE STREET! NO NOT JUST YOUR TRASH BUT THE PEOPLE WHO LEFT ALL THE CANS FULL LAST WEEK! OH AND DON'T FORGET TO BRING THE CANS BACK UP THE NEXT DAY!!!! OK, I thought we were on VACATION and don't forget this place cost us $500+ per night. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Problem number 2 - don't forget to inspect EVERYTHING on the property! 3 WEEKS after returning home we are informed we were being charged $111 for a broken plastic chair. $55 for the chair and $55 for ADMINISTRATION FEES. We are still not sure what chair they are referring to but my guess is there were 2 lounge chairs out just feet from the beach in the back yard. There is a fence around the pool and house but the back yard is wide open. We, however, did not even use these chairs so how could we have known if one was broken or not??? We did leave a list of lightbulbs burnt out, squeeky washer dryer, drains that barely drain....My guess those things were left as is. To say the least, we will not be returning to this beautiful property. I called and left a message that was never returned. I emailed our position on the "Broken chair" and were only told EVERY property is inspected between each tenant EVERY time. Keep in mind from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (check out, check in times) this is done. HOWEVER they told us they have too many rentals to take the trash down to the street once a week??????? Pathetic situation because the property is definitely "blissful" but it's the principle of the thing - to be accused of breaking something when we didn't and it could have been someone who didn't even rent the place leaves a bad taste in our mouth. We never received proof that the chair "we didn't break" was even purchased and replaced. So beware - if you stay in this property, you better do your own inventory and inspection before even setting up shop. But then again, there is no inventory/inspection list to check against so it's their call to make after you've checked out as to what may have been damaged or missing and you're at their mercy even if you didn't to it. read more

This will be a lengthy review, but will be worth it to save yourself the trouble of booking through Lahaina Island Accommodations.We checked into the house on Saturday, 6/7/14. While unpacking in the kitchen we noticed numerous roach droppings in the drawers and felt that we had to wash everything. Although we were a bit grossed out we are from FL and know this can happen.Everything was great. As we got comfortable we started to notice issues with the house; the bathroom pipes making noise when you ran hot water and the floor rotting out in the dining room near the sliding door.The worst part was the "Screened deck overlooking the Gulf" (from the website).Thinking that we could avoid the infamous FL mosquitoes we sat in there.Within seconds we were attacked my mosquitoes.After looking closer we saw that several panels were ripped and under the patio the screen was missing or ripped in several places.So that was the last we tried to enjoy the sunset on the "screened deck."As the week progressed we saw that the outside handle,on the door was coming loose.It was not a handle that came installed on the door,but was installed.On Wed. the handle finally broke off.This wouldn't be atypical in the Florida weather.Soon after the dishwasher stopped working.We contacted managment and alerted them of the 2 issues. A maintenance guy came,while he was there he also removed a handle from another door and replaced the broken one.He stated that the owner said to replace the dishwasher,and he would return the next day to replace the dishwasher. On Thurs he never returned and we did not hear from anyone.On Fri, 6/13 we began collecting all of our belongings and checking everything for our things.In the "upstairs guest bedroom 1" we found in the drawers, under the bed and under the furniture piles of candy wrappers and water bottles.This made us question the cleaning of this house between renters!Sat 6/14 we checked out and returned home,approx 2 hours away (this will be significant later). On Mon 6/16 we received an email from Joey Cope, General Manager, stating that he had been advised from Operations, Maintenance and Housekeeping that damage was discovered on the property we had rented. He stated that each property was cleaned and inspected for damage between each guest. We found this ironic since we found excessive trash in room as well as the roach droppings.This is the list of damages,quoted from the email sent:1.major scratch on the TV screen in the Queen Bedroom 2.the custom wooden coffee table base is all scratched up 3.one of the white chairs in the master bedroom has a broken spring and strap 4. the dining room table is scratched as if it was cleaned with something abrasive 5. the sliding glass door handle was broken off in the daybed room 6.and the comforter in the master bedroom is stained and soiled beyond normal use.Our $700.00 deposit was being held. He said that he was most concerned about the TV.We quickly responded asking for pictures of the damage.We also explained that it was their maintenance dept who replaced the broken one. Mr. Cope responded that he did have pictures, but he would have to get Oper, Dept.He stated that maintenance did replace the handle,but that it was broken again.We had to ask photos again and asked to come back to to see the damage ourselves. Mr.Cope said he would send the pictures and he "wish it would be possible for you to stop and see the damages but since we have the property full of guest for the next several months that will not be possible."On Wed 6/18 we received the pictures.The original email had a list of 6 items that were damaged? The pictures and email only include "Stains noted on the bedspreads, scratches on the coffee table base and a scratch on the face of the flat screen TV." Mr. Cope then stated that he was gathering the cost to repair the scratches and commercially cleaning of the bedspreads.We responded with a lengthy email disputing the accusations and asked again to come over to see the damage as some of the things appeared to be easily fixed without the need of "professional services."We also asked for specific procedures when a guest checks out as it seems damage could be potentially be caused by housekeeping.Then again they were taking the word of housekeeping which obviously doesn't do a thorough job since we found garbage and roach droppings.We got a response from Mr. Cope that housekeeping is the first one to report damage and then other departments are included to "confirm" damage and then it is reported to Mr. Cope. In the email he reports that he "should have additional information in regard to the costs after the current guest checks out on Saturday..." So based on what Mr. Cope writes in this email, there is a time frame for us to see the damage ourselves, but we were denied again.On 6/25 an email showed that $195.75 was being held to make repairs and cleaning + maintenance fee.Funny, just about the cost of a new and basic dishwasher. read more

BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN RENTING THROUGH LAHAINA. We rented a condo last week August 2-7, 2014. We cooked dinner the night we got there (before going to the beach keep in mind!) and noticed the garbage disposal was not working. We didn't call the office to report it until we tried to use the dishwasher the next day and water and food from weeks prior started backing up into the sink. We called the Lahaina Island Accomodations office to report and they sent a plumber out to fix it. Later we received a call from Joey Cope, their general manager, to advise us that "we damaged the garbage disposal and pipes" due to seashells, and that they were keeping our $200 deposit AND charging our credit card another $166. He had no proof that the garage disposal was running properly, only could assure me that "they always throughly check the garbage disposals during the cleaning process and that it was surely working prior to our stay". He emailed me the contract that we had signed which states that they will take "legal recourse should this situation not be resolved". My family has rented condos all over Florida for decades now and we have always left the condo in the exact shape we rented it in, if not cleaner. Looks like Lahaina was trying to find a family to place this charge on from a previous damage or to repair a maintenance issue of theirs. Please reconsider renting through this company. read more
