Who knew.... Awesome burgers! Carry out or counter seating. (room for about 10) No tables. Parking...fair. A local favorite. Hot (temperature) fries. Prices are good!! 4th generation ownership. Family was doing the cooking. Lots of kitchen help... place was busy. Friendly staff. We will return when in the Hodgenville area again.

This is as classic as the get. The quintessential diner: Only counter seating, cheap food (that is outstanding), well staffed, and fast. This little place is the heart of the town. If the town is anything like the staff, I believe the area would be a great place to live. Finding places like these give you the same type of rush as finding lost money or reconnecting with a childhood friend. Joyous!

LaHa's Red Castle (pronounced Lay-hay's) was a pleasant surprise. While visiting the nearby Lincoln Birthplace, a local volunteer told me it should be on my radar for a local dive. The place is SMALL. Tiny. There's only a soda fountain type counter with about ten (10) seats. The small area means people standing against the wall behind you while awaiting their food. It's awkward; people constantly reaching over you, between you and others. I overheard one of the ladies behind the counter say there's no personal space in there. Truth. The burgers are tiny...I finished the burger in 4 bites, but price was as small as the burger, so if anything...it was my fault as a newbie not ordering two! This was going to be a 4-star review, but once I got used to all the people around, I started listening. Everyone knows everyone in this little town (or at least it seems). It was homey, friendly, almost like all these people were family. I mean, makes sense, this place has been around four generations. What a tradition. One of the owners (I assume) even let me snag a photo of a photo of President Eisenhower in front of LaHa's when they were still just a shack! If I ever go back to Lincoln's birthplace, I'm definitely headed back to LaHa's!

Nostalgic counter service restaurant. Friendly fast service. We loved the Smash burger with fried onions on the grill. The chili dogs were also delicious. Seating outside available.

Not bad, not bad! We were in the Hodgenville area and had heard that this place was the place to go for a good, cheap meal. The locale is right in the middle of downtown in a tiny little shop. Heads up though, it's cash only! It's super simple food, a super simple menu. For what it is, it was pretty solid. We got a couple of burgers with fries to go; we wouldn't have bebe able to sit, the shop is teeny tiny with a couple of bar seats that were already occupied. There were several servers working, tending to customers, and working the grill. We really enjoyed our food. Overall we had a great experience! If you're ever in Hodgenville give it a try!

Chili dogs are more like hot dogs with chili flavored water. Hamburgers were way overdone. Service was ok.

Very very small but that's part of the charm. Great burgers but keep in mind they are small so get at least a double.

According to my friend, the have the best burgers in Etown! ‍ There are a few parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant (maybe 5, with 2-3 slots being reserved for handicap). There are nearby parking lots with plenty more parking. As it was a Sunday, we had no trouble finding parking. There were a few people ahead of us, maybe three different parties. My partner and I did not have to wait to be seated since the friends we were meeting had already arrived and got a table. We greeted our friends then reviewed the menu. Since it was around 12ish on a Sunday, only the brunch menu was available. Not long after, our waitress arrived to take drink orders. Shortly after that, and after the drinks arrived - pineapple mimosas, apple juice, and water, we ordered our food...mostly everyone had a burger. I had the Texan burger/sandwich which came on a Texas toast, hence the name, and my partner had the Newberry Smash burger (double). Each came with a choice of "regular" fries or tots. I wanted sweet potato fries, but again, since it was Sunday, only the brunch menu and what was displayed was available. So, I settled for regular fries. My burger was good albeit a bit messy with the sunny side egg running everywhere! The bacon topping the burger was perfectly done with the right crispy/crunchy consistency. My mimosas was refreshing except I did not get much of a pineapple taste. The fries were fresh and appropriately seasoned, not too salty and not too bland, just right. We were all full from our meals so we did not even consider dessert! The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded, so the atmosphere was quite. We sat by the windows and were not even distracted by the outside vehicles passing by. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend J.R. Neighbors to anyone looking for good burgers in a good atmosphere in Etown.

We sat at the bar because it was still pretty packed. The place was fun - the service was a bit silly in a good way. Great cocktails. Great ambiance and decor. My bourbon-grilled pork chops were fantastic. Good cornbread. Green beans were fantastic. The fried apples were just okay - a bit on the dry side. My friend's chicken and waffles looked amazing. Another friend's ribeye looked a bit overdone to me, but he seemed to like it. I wish the souvenir store was still open when we were there (it closed at 6pm) because I would have liked to bring home a trinket or shirt. Maybe upon next visit - because I will definitely eat here again the next time I'm in Bardstown. Make it a priority to stop in!
