First negative experience! Ordered fish, onions rings and fried squash. I know it is all fried food. This is the first time out of many that the food was greasy. Not just a little. i went to Druthers last night with 3 other people. I haven't been there in a couple of years and now I know why. The food was terrible! We had the roasted corn appetizer which came with mostly broken pieces of chips. We asked our waitress to bring us others and she did. The food wasn't hot. Everything was just mediocre. The food used to be great but it has really gone downhill. The restaurant does look a lot nicer but that's not enough. I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

First time eating here. The prices are good. We got the buffet. On the buffet there was some pork tenderloin, chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, a few other things and a small salad bar. There was a really good vegetable beef soup also. Soda was included which I was surprised about. We met some new friends here and ended up staying for 4 hours. The employees were friendly. read more

Today I went to Druther's for the first time in over a quarter-century. I grew up on Druther's food, when I was a kid it was the only fast food place in town. When I was a kid, it was where we had to go for any fast food without having to drive to the next county over (which wouldn't be very fast). Then, one day, the local Druthers turned into a Dairy Queen. . .which was just not the same. Around that time, we also got a McDonalds and several other fast food chains. Sometimes it was almost like I'd dreamed Druthers up. Yet, still, all these years later I can hum their old jingle from their TV ads "I'd rather go to Druthers, and I think I'll go today. . .". Well, I'd heard for years there was one Druthers left, several hours away in Campbellsville. It was always a "one of these days" things to go check it out. Today was that day. The verdict? It's almost perfectly preserved from the 1980's. . .for better and for worse. Except for the flatscreen TV and the lack of ashtrays you'd think everything in there was totally unchanged from the 1980's. . .that includes the cash registers, tables and chairs, menu board, signs, and basically everything. A lot of things are very well worn and grimy. It's clear that the place hasn't had a renovation or even a really good cleaning in around 30 years or more. Service was confused and jumbled. I walked up to the counter and placed my order. . .and as the worker left to get my soda, another employee came by to take my order. . .and then another. . .and then when they brought my soda back the person wasn't sure if I'd been charged and had to ask if she, or the other people who asked, had taken my money. I was honest and paid, but I realized if they are that confused when I was the only person standing at the counter, they could really lose money on dishonest people. They apparently write down orders on little rolls of paper, like calculator or cash register paper tape. I guess that's another '80's vintage idea. I couldn't find the straws for my soda, they didn't give me one with my drink and I didn't see them at the counter. I thought I found some in the dining room but they turned out to be coffee stirrers, so I had to drink my root beer without a straw. The food itself was about like I remembered. I loved their fish sandwiches when I was a kid, to the point I remember every bit and detail of how a Druther's fish sandwich is supposed to look and taste. . .and they got close. I guess they had changes in suppliers over the decades and tried to keep it close to the original. When I was headed there, I originally planned to keep the cup or some article of packaging with their logo on it as a memento of my trip, but they just use generic unmarked cups and packing materials, sadly. I wasn't the only person visiting there out of nostalgia either. . .as I was walking in, someone was posing for a photo out front as their first trip to a Druthers in decades as well. Judging from other Yelp reviews, this place seems to get a decent amount of business of the notability of being the last Druthers. My advice is a good, thorough cleaning of the place. Scrub everything thoroughly, replace stuff that's worn out, and maybe modernize their business practices into the 21st century. That and invest in some use of your branding and actually have cups and packaging that capitalizes on your brand since people come just for that. Employees wear Druthers T-shirts (the one thing there that doesn't look vintage to the '80's, they look new and clean). Maybe they should have some T-shirts, collectors cups or other memorabilia to sell too. The overall quality was comparable to any other fast food burger chain. It was decent for a few minutes of nostalgia of my childhood though, but I can't see myself driving 2 hours to get there and another 2 hours to get back again though. read more

Druther's in Campbellsville Ky hasn't changed EVER! It's so comfortable and the food is consistently outstanding! Everything on the menu is always so perfect, whether it's biscuits n gravy, a biscuit sandwich, a grilled chicken sandwich (my favorite), the fried fish, fried chicken, beans n cornbread I mean I could go on for ages! Great place for breakfast or lunch. They open pretty early in the morning, I think around 3am, so it's a great place for an early bite. It's the last location of what was a pretty popular chain restaurant, and I'm glad it's around to enjoy. It's pretty dated but I think that's part of the charm. Just like it was, great place to eat. We drive two hours just to eat here. Real fish, not a pressed out paty. Prices are right, people are great, and food is good. Always take Chicken home with us. To sum it up, we have made the two hour drive three times in less than a year to eat here, and would go more if life didn't get in the way. read more

This is the last location of its kind in Kentucky. I love little places like this that's still live on even though many others have tried to buy them out. The food here is very simple cooking that you can't just getting anywhere else. I love the home feel you get when you're here. The guy will came with was telling me about how he remembers this as a kid and that Dairy Queen's trying to buy them out. Getting a burger with chili dog and a drink. Really liked it it was very just simple cooking. I will say they do need to update a little bit on the restaurant part. The mural on the wall was really nice and pretty cool. I believe the dining room and the kitchen area that you can see need to be a little updated and modernized but with an old feel to it. I wish they had one of these back in Lexington because I think you do very well with the locals. If you love places that reminds you of Kentucky back in the day this is definitely one of them. read more
