Ordered my Xmas ham from them. I ordered a WHOLE SEMI-BONELESS HAM.. What I got was a WHOLE SLICED BONELESS HAM.. I live in Anderson and there was no time to take it back. It would not have been so bad but I ordered on the phone with a man and the woman that does the ordering called me to verify what I wanted. So much for that. I am always happy to visit Lahody Meats. I don't know anywhere else that I can get thick pork steaks for the grill, and no one raises and no one there raises an eyebrow. The selection of meat is always delicious. They have a fabulous selection of cheeses, dips, salads and all you could want to fill in a charcuterie board or appetizer spread or finalize your picnic or BBQ. Try the Toronto seasoning...better than Montreal Seasoning. Finally, they have the amazing smoked pork chops: warm them or eat them cold. I have been buying my meat from here for a while now and have never been disappointed! The smoked chops are great and the ground beef is the best ( also cheep ). Now I decided to treat my wife and kids to a real steak and I knew right where to go to pick them up. I got the Lahody cut bone in steak that the gods sent down from the heavens to Lahody meats then to my grill! It was a little pricey but in this case you really get what you pay for! This review is strictly based on their service as I haven't had a chance to try the meats yet. We were in Muncie for a quick weekend and decided to order an online bundle to take home with us. I didn't pay attention to the date of pick up, which was supposed to be two days after we left town. When I went to pick up the order at the time I thought it was supposed to be they said they didn't have it. Have a little research we figured out it wasn't scheduled till after we left town. They were great and got the order ready to be picked up the next morning, before we left town!! Not many places would do that, so thank you very much! Have never had an issue with the products I have bought here, however, customer service is not always the best. I have had issues with customer service in the store not being too friendly before. However this past Saturday I called to get the prices of 2 different meats. Not only was the lady on the phone rude but as she asked the price of the second meat I heard the person she asked loudly say "Oh my God, really". I understand maybe they were busy but still did not have to be rude. I will no longer be a customer there as I do not have to deal with rudeness. read more

Lahody's is like the neighborhood butchers that used to exist 50 years ago ever few blocks. Not that I was alive back then! The staff here is very knowledgeable... particularly Matt. Ron is also great guy--he can be a bit gruff at times, but he was a Marine. They always have top quality meats--most of which they source from the Midwest. I appreciate being able to buy meat from Indiana. We always come here for holiday meat--if you want a local turkey, standing rib roast, rack of lamb, or bone-in ham, this is the go-to place in Muncie. They also make some sausages and brats that are pretty good. I haven't bought seafood from here--but it looks pretty good from what I can see. They also have boar's head lunch meats and make some pretty mean sandwiches (out of Gonella bread from Chicago). There is also amish butter and eggs and ham salad and cheese and stuff like that. They have good, though limited, produce (onions, potatoes, carrots, cabbage most of the time). I like dealing with a local business where people know my name. I really wish I hadn't stopped at this shop before the holidays. I've always enjoyed their meats and especially the rub they make. When I stopped before the holidays, the owner and an older gent were having a nice conversation in the middle of the store WITHOUT MASKS. I realize their are those who don't believe in mask wearing but when it's posted on the door that you can't enter without one....I think all of the employees especially the owner should be wearing them. Amazing quality of meat and the price is unbeatable! They also have a selection of deli meat and a very small selection of fruit and vegetables which I wasn't surprised since the building is pretty small. However , the have some selections you could pick up really quick if needed. Lahody Meats is right around the corner from me so it's very convenient to stop by here really quick for me. Only downside is they close earlish. But their pork chops, bacon wrapped filets, New York strips , not to mention their homemade seasonings and pickles (which I'm obsessed with). For being a college student , Lahody is great when you're on a budget and still want good quality meat is a win win in my book! read more

Absolutely my favorite place to buy good meet. Ron Lahody and his crew are always very helpful. I ordered my Thanksgiving turkey there for the fifth year in a row. Always fresh and not full of chemicals. This year Ron spatchcocked it for me at no additional cost. I am looking forward to cooking this bird and watching my family enjoy itIn addition to the wonderful selection of meat and vegetables, from time to time Ron has fresh oysters. Mr. Lahody sends out emails, which is nice, but he sent one out on Saturday and when my husband and I came in for the special, he said he made a mistake and that he couldn't honor it. That was frustrating, for sure, but understandable. The thing that really made me wonder though was that he lied and said he sent out an email immediately correcting his error. We checked our phones and hadn't received the retraction email. Instead of offering us a different deal or even apologizing, he lied. He did eventually send out a retraction email -- two hours later. I feel like we were almost part of a bait and switch to drum up some business. Especially when he didn't apologize or try to offer us a different, even small, discount or something to make up for the drive. My favorite butcher in Muncie. Ron and his staff are wonderful to work with. They have really been helpful choosing meat, especially their steaks. Their smoked pork chops are huge (!!) but are great for making fired rice with. Boar's Head cheese and deli meats ate cut/sliced at the time YOU order them. There are some veggies you can pick up for a one stop pick-up for dinner. Matt is a great manager and treats customers very well. read more

A friend and I were driving through Muncie today and found this amazing place! So many delicious things packed into one tiny market! They have a lovely selection of meats and cheeses. They also have a small produce section as well as fresh breads, fun sauces and prepared salads. Their prices are very reasonable. My friend purchased a nice block of sharp cheddar, pretzel rolls, some produce, and a treat for her dog. I purchased a few salads and a block of cheese. My boyfriend and I had been wanting to do a romantic holiday meal so I purchased a London broil, prepared twice baked potatoes, and jumbo asparagus as well. The London broil and asparagus were fresh and delicious but the real standout were the twice baked potatoes. Usually prepared food bought at markets is artificial crap but these potatoes were filled with really bacon and cheddar and fresh chives. Thank you Lahody's for making our holiday meal complete! Good quality meats at a fair price. Great BBQ Ribs, better order early and get there fast because they go quickly. They will even make you a great sandwich you can eat on the patio outside. The meat we purchased was very good, but 2 things were bothersome enough to keep me from returning. 1. The smell inside was bad enough to make my children hold their noses and comment on the smell. 2. There was fresh meats next to smoked meats. This is not a sanitary process. Lahodys is as good as it gets. Muncie is lucky to have a "real" butcher shop that will cut to order. Yeah, the parking is tight and maybe the shop is a little "tight", but you are getting fresh cut meats, seafood and produce @ fair prices. If you want cheap and don't care where it come from, their are plently of "big box" stores on McGailliard that will sell that stuff to you. Being a first time customer, I entered the store at 10:45 am on Jan. 13th. I looked about the shop and was impressed. As I approached the meat counter, 2 males were prepping meats. No other customers were present in the store. No one acknowledged my presence... At a distance of approx. 15 feet, I made initial contact by stating "How ya doing?". Dead silence followed, no response from employee(s). I turned to leave, stopped and went back to meat counter and stated "When a customer, or anyone else for that matter, makes verbal contact a response should be given." The clerk stated "I didn't hear you". No apology, no "I'm so sorry, may I help you". I replied "You just lost my business" and exit, stage left. I have others who stated interest in crock pot meals and awaited my opinion of those meals and your shop, so you didn't just lose me as a customer. However, when I encounter people that desire to be ignored, not respected or "invisible" I'll certainly recommend Lahody meats. read more
