We chose Elm Street to dinner tonight because we had always had good food and good service in the past. That was not the case tonight. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. and were seated immediately and right in front of the musicians. There were no menus for us but the hostess explained she had run out and would return with them. It took several minutes but she did return with them. We realized there was no bar menu at our table so I took the one from a nearby table. After 15 minutes I spoke to a young woman who was bussing the table behind us and told her we had not yet seen a member of the wait staff. She said she would look into it. Five more minutes went by and I stopped the hostess and told her we had not seen a waiter. She said she would look into it. Another five minutes goes by and finally Isaiah stopped at our table, apologized for our wait and took our drink order. He asked if we were there for the band and I said, "No, we are here for dinner." We ordered two Bantams. Finally, at 6 p.m. we left. Our beers never arrived. There was no apology from the hostess and we let the waiting customers know unhappy we were with the service. No one should have to wait for 30 minutes for a beer at a brewery. Came to town to pick up some salon furniture and ended up swinging by for dinner! The location is great with its industrial setting and design. The back yard and stage area is very large and welcoming as well! The service was great! The kitchen just seemed to be a little more behind than normal the way our server kept apologizing on the food taking its time. We went with the smoked wings to share and they were incredible! The Smokey flavor and crunchy skin was a combo to drool for! I ended up with the house breaded pork tenderloin sandwich and smoked loaded potato! Which was delicious! My friends got the grilled cheese with smoked pork and loved it! And my other friend got the brisket cheese steak as a wrap and said it was super flavorful! I planned a Muncie daytrip & really talked this place up based on what I read online, but I didn't realize it was Ball State's summer graduation day and this is basically where everyone has their celebratory gatherings! After a minimum of 5 dead-ends due to closed roads the map app was unaware of, we arrived to find a line out the door as large groups waited to get seated. This made my small party of 4 concerned that we'd wait forever to be seated but I stood firm: I could smell awesome smoker grills going and the building's so cool! After 15 minutes, we were seated in the roomy, industrial ambience of the revived Muncie Ice & Coal building. Our server was nice, and after a few questions revealing the menu was a condensed version due to graduation day, we managed to place our order. Found it strange the menu listed buttermilk chicken tenders for kids menu, but they wouldn't let us order an adult plate of them, but, ok, there's other options. Waters were filled & my cocktail was great but we never got an opportunity for beverage refills - as we waited 1 hour for our meals. I realized they're busy & we were enjoying the live guitar music & singer so we tried not to be a bother, but we started to wonder if we'd been forgotten and I honestly would have reordered my cocktail at least 2 more times if I'd had the chance. We weren't alone in the bar area, and didn't see anyone served before us, so assumed it's just a very busy day. The cheese pizza was underwhelming (def for kids - kinda like Chuck E Cheese) and husband was disappointed with the pork tenderloin (he tries them throughout the Midwest). However, huge thumbs up on grilled or smoked menu items! Elm St burger cooked medium and tasted good. Chicken wings were flavorful and such ample sauce for dipping, I didn't use as much blue cheese dressing as usual - so happy the seasonal special sauce was garlic parmesan. Two of us would return but, sadly, it would take dragging the other 2 of us back. And, for a brewery that can seat 300, the sparse # of restrooms was so strange? Maybe staff were honestly too busy to let those of us waiting know there were others in the building? We had a nice time here and the food was good. Their signature wing dry rub was pretty epic. The beer is GREAT. Good spot for date night, solo date night, families, girls night, etc. no dogs allowed inside because of the food. Among the three of us, we ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip which was quite good, the Brisket Grilled Cheese with tater tots, a Pulled Pork sandwich with tater tots, and the Smoked Brisket Cheesesteak with fries and a Bloody Mary. The sandwiches were good, but not incredible in any way, and quite pricey for the portion sizes. The smoked brisket overall had a nice flavor. However, the fries were inedible, tough and burnt and tasted and looked like they had been fried twice after sitting for some time. They should have never been served. And while our server was pleasant and the atmosphere interesting, we won't return. read more

Let's start with the highlight: service was outstanding -- attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was good as well. Clean, well-kept, plenty of space. A little dark, but that seems common at this point. Fried pickle chips and sandwich were good, not great. What really holds back my rating are the French fries. They looked pretty good but were somehow chewy. I had hoped it was just a problematic fry or two, but that was not the case. Working in Muncie and decided to stop in for dinner and beer. I was worried upon arrival as all the parking areas were packed. Luckily the brewery is extremely room with lots of spaces to sit. Good beer selection with several of there own and some other selections on tap. I had a couple scotch ales and sampled a couple others. Be sure to check their facebook page for their specials because they have a new one every weekend. The only complaint is that their specials are typically so good but they are so temporary that if you really like it, you may not be able to get it for a while. However it also makes you keep trying new things. Plus their people are great and so helpful. read more

Really not your typical brewery. Didn't see any brewing equipment. But a beautiful place inside. We only had one drink each , to be fair. Another great find while we were in Muncie. Very unassuming from the outside, but when you enter, it seems to sprawl in several different directions. More than just beer. They have a full bar and food menu. A nice selection of their own beers and even more guest taps. We sat at the bar and both bartenders were very friendly and willing to offer very good advice about almost all beers on tap. We didn't have any mixed drinks or food but they looked good from what we saw prepared. I will definitely be ordering some food the next time we visit! read more

Very nice establishment!! Looks plain on the outside and small but once you walk in you are welcomed with lots of industrial flair and lots of different areas for seating. They have lots of beers on tap and a nice spread of food as well including brick oven pizzas! Their fried pickles are very crispy which rates well in my opinion! Their hot chocolate stout was my favorite and you could definitely taste the hot chocolate mixture! They also had other Indiana beers on tap, many sours, IPAs, and a few ciders including cider boys pina colada which was really good and refreshing for an upcoming summer night. There's a back patio with seating and a small stage for live music to enjoy as well! Definitely have to check this place out! read more

I want to like this place so bad. The ambiance and decor is modern and classy. I love they have live bands play often and a cool outdoor section. The bar is small and the bartender usually there is friendly but the drinks are not good. I once had to ask for more ginger beer in my Moscow mule due to it being super bitter. The food is overpriced and not worth it...like $20 for a cheeseburger bad. The hosts are usually young girls with attitudes. Last time she stayed on her phone and told us to leave because the kitchen was closing soon but the bartender said it was okay and waited on us. Some food is recommended like the wings! read more

We enjoyed a Pit Master Pie and Philly Cheese sandwich (forgot the name of it) and fries. If you like bbq, I highly suggest trying the Pit Master Pie. Hands down, one of the best bbq pizzas I've had! The Philly cheese sandwich was HUGE and delicious. No skimping on the meats at Elm Street. The fries - well, they complimented them very nicely. I'd order just fries for a snack from this place, that is how perfectly cooked they were. I will be back for more takeout and to dine-in! read more

I thought the beers were very average but they have a really expansive guest list full of good beers. This was my first time here so I just did a flight of Elm Street beers but I'll try other outside brews next time. The food was surprisingly good and much better than your typical brewery/bar food. My husband and I enjoyed a dinner here Valentines Day. During most week nights only bar food and sandwiches are on the menu but for Valentines Day they offered a dinner for two. We chose the salmon. The filet was a typical frozen filet you would expect from a Indiana restaurant however the chef cooked it so well we really enjoyed it. It was seasoned nicely with a dill/garlic butter, a dill sauce was served on the side. It was nice but neither of us used it as the dish really didn't need it. Green beans and a potato mash was served as sides. We opted for their famous soup rather than salad and the desert was nice. They have really good sandwiches here as well. The beer is always good and cold with many to choose from. This place is worth trying out and one of our favorite go to places when we want a cold beer and good food. read more

We've been here once before when it had recently opened and I would have given it a 4.5 star then! Unfortunately our experience this time was subpar and it seems like the food and service has declined. First we got the pickle chips to start which were pretty good! We all got the smoked brisket cheesesteak in a wrap with the Colorado green chili sauce, and house fries on the side. The entree took quite a while to get to our table which usually isn't a problem but they weren't that busy and the food wasn't hot when we got it. I've throughly enjoyed every experience I've had at Elm Street. The food has always been great. If you like ranch, there's is one of my favorites. However, the service is sometimes not what it should be. I've never had bad service, it's just been that the waiter/waitress will disappear for a while and miss that we need refills or we have waited a while for something else we need.
