Loved this place! Was looking for permanent jewelry for my daughter, and myself... Found this place online, and I'm so glad we went. They were so kind, and so accommodating! Along with that, their options were by far the most, that I was able to find in the area. Their booking / appointments app was easy, and the girls that helped us were wonderful. I love that the jewelry won't tarnish. Love my anklet and would absolutely go back to them.

I love this place it's my go to for getting any permanent jewelry. I think they are very fairly priced considering another store I went to was probably almost double so when I came here I was like oh thank god. Their charms are also unbeatable they have the most selection I have ever seen. You could get something super amazing around $100 and it'll be something you'll have for a long long time. Mallory and Shaenn were so helpful and sweet while I shopped and fixed my bracelet since my cat got ahold of it and yanked it off my hand with the force of 100 men. If you get permanent jewelry you can get a free fix if some freak accident happens. Otherwise it's just $20 which I think is fair!! Very welcoming and exciting store!! read more

This store is so amazing! They have amazing jewelry selection and permanent bracelets. I loved the sticker and card selection which is perfect for any birthday or holiday gift. We came here for the Hale Pua puzzle and they had an amazing selection. Will definitely come back!! The prices are reasonable since they carry all local/small businesses! Absolutely HORRENDOUS customer service by a bunch of kids who don't even know the policy of the store they're working at. Spent over $200 here and was told by the girl making my "permanent" anklet that I could have free repairs for 1 yr and that my info was in their system and in wouldn't have to keep that piece of paper they gave me. So of course I tossed the paper. Cheapy chain ends up breaking after 3 months. Got it repaired after they hassled me for the paper I was told I didn't need, even tho I clearly showed proof of purchase with my cc. Broke again couple months later and was charged $20. Broke AGAIN 1 month later charged me $30 this time and honestly I'm done with this rip off store selling cheap tacky jewelry from China. It doesn't even last 4 months and when you're paying over $100 for an anklet that isn't even real gold, you would expect it to last longer than 4 months. DON'T EVER SHOP here. TOTAL WASTE OF $. Each time I came i was told something diff bc none of these kids working here know wtf they're doing. The paper they tell you to keep doesn't even state their so called policy and when I brought that up she made absolutely no sense. These girls have like 1 brain cell firing. Don't call your cheapy jewelry permanent when it's gonna fall right off. read more

The girl who checked us out was incredibly kind and helpful, so I want to be very clear that this review is not about her. She was wonderful. During checkout, she told us we had 14 days to return the dress if we decided we didn't like it, so we felt completely comfortable making the purchase if we didn't end up changing our mind. At around 3:30 p.m.--only about six hours later--I tried the dress on with the strapless bra I planned to wear and realized it was cut much lower on the side than I had thought. Unfortunately, it showed way more side than I was comfortable with, so I made the five-minute walk back to the store. I brought the dress back with the tags still attached, the original shopping bag, and my receipt. I was then told that returns were not allowed, but they could offer store credit instead. We explained that we had specifically been told we could return it within 14 days. The employee responded by circling the return policy printed on the receipt. The problem is that you don't receive the receipt until after you've already paid. We relied on the information we were given at checkout. We asked if a manager could be contacted. The employee first texted the manager, and for a moment it sounded like an exception might be made. Ultimately, the answer was still no. We then asked if she could call the manager directly. Unfortunately, the manager was incredibly rude and dismissive over the phone. We explained that we felt we had been misled and that we would be disputing the charge and leaving a review. Her response was simply, "Okay." There was no concern, no apology, and no attempt to make things right. And the manager was so aggressive. It's disappointing because this entire situation could have been avoided if we had been given accurate information at checkout. Instead, what started as a great shopping experience ended with some of the worst customer service I've experienced.

The tako (octopus) is my favorite. This Honolulu store may not look like much from the outside, but when you walk in, it's just fun for me. It's like a Target and Japanese supermarket in one! I decided to do the long walk from Waikiki down to the store, and I was so rewarded for the effort. Walking up and the row of epic restaurant stalls had me grinning from ear to ear. There were so many delicious options OUTSIDE the store that I almost never made it in. From handrolls featuring the freshest seafood from Hokkaido to wagyu kushiyaki and more, my mouth was watering seeing it all beautifully displayed in the windows, and I'm surprised no one said anything about my gawking. Don Q is such a fun store because they have anything and everything you can think of across nearly every category. If I said they're like the Japanese Walmart, it wouldn't hit quite right because the quality and breadth of the selections here are far better. My favorite part of visiting Don Q has to be the incredible array of Asian specialty ingredients and snacks they sell and the reasonable prices. I picked up some gifts here including some exceptional styles of furikake and togarashi, but saw way too many other things I wanted. They also have amazing prepared foods here, specifically Japanese items. There's an entire sushi counter featuring all cuts of bluefin and more, freshly made onigiri, great selection of bentos and and poké too! You really owe it to yourself to visit!

Iniital visit the other day to Plantoem...a cafe / plant nursery. It's been open for awhile on…read moreWaialae Avenue in what may be the smallest two-story shopping plaza in town, Lafite Plaza. Go up the ramp to dedicated parking stalls for patrons; avoid the stalls demarcated, reserved. There are street metered stalls along Lafite and, the adjacent structure, Kaimuki Plaza. Plantoem offers a relaxing ambiance upon entrance. Navigate the jungle of plants to access the cafe counter. I requested the Yerba Mate which is only available for in-house. A container with filtered straw was provided alongside a thermal carafe...there was enough hot water for 2.5 servings. The barista was a bit bemused when I ( humorously ) mentioned I swallowed some sediment from the straw...not being used to drinking yerba mate in this traditional way. I felt a little less of a gringo after that beverage. The main dining area is to the left. A nook to the back of the counter is a laptop/device free zone...and I sat in that hideaway...perused a book on interior design ( a few books are available) ...and enjoyed the yerba mate. Hours are from 700a till 500p - Mondays thru Thursdays. Fridays are 700a to 700p. Saturdays are 1000a - 700p. Sundays: 1000a until 500p.

Koolau Farmers is a locally owned/operated nursery and garden supply business that are home…read moregardening experts. It was started in 1938 by East Oahu farmers and a Kailua papaya cooperative as a farmer-founded business entity that shifted from farming to home gardening. Today, it supplies plants, floral arrangements, fertilizers, pesticides, garden tools, etc. for home gardeners. There are currently two locations for Koolau Farmers: Kaneohe and Honolulu (McCully). This review is for the Honolulu location. Items that the McCully location carry include: bromeliads, flowers, fruit, orchids, palms, fruit trees, peppers, tropical fruits, shrubs, soil, trees, veggies, hono hono orchids, dwarf fruit trees (Meyer lemon, Tahitian limes, Naval oranges, jabong, grafted mango, avocado). It also offers seed starting supplies, fertilizers for plants and flowers, worm composting bins; and info re growing and care of indoor potted plants, organic gardening, soil testing, and proper lighting. What brought us to Koolau Farmers is my lilikoi vine that I've had in my back yard for a number of years. With the help of bees, the vine had flourished and produced many delicious fruits for homemade lilikoi desserts, such as lilikoi chiffon pie, lilikoi curd, lilikoi bars, and more. But in recent years, the flowers would bloom, but because there are no bees to pollinate the lilikoi flowers, no fruits are produced. Questions to Koolau Farmers confirmed that there is a lack of nesting sites for carpenter bees (I think they're known as the black bumblebees that we no longer see) to pollinate the lilikoi flowers, resulting in a lack of fruit. According to Koolau Farmers, the flowers must be hand-pollinated instead. Staff provided instructions to my hubby on how to hand-pollinate the beautiful lilikoi flowers. A work in progress, and I'm sure more questions to follow. Then the next project will be our dwarf local orange tree. Where is the fruit? There's a single tiny orange on it, yes, only one! Hope Koolau Farmers can help us on this one! Another work in progress. Staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and provides helpful guidance. An unlikely spot in urban Honolulu to have a nursery and garden supply store, but I'm glad that it's there! The interior space is not that big, but houses boxes of fertilizers and various home gardening equipment for home gardeners. There may be displays of seasonal items on how to grow certain plants, such as hono hono orchids. Open daily from 8a to 5p. Free parking in the private lot. On the outside private lot are scattered variety of healthy local plants, herbs, orchids, and fruit trees. We look forward in working with Koolau Farmers and knowing that they are there to help us with our home gardening needs!

We purchased a bracelet here which lasted only 2 days before breaking. This was pretty disappointing for a piece of jewelry that was $90. Unfortunately the store did not want to stand behind their products when we went back to have it repaired or replaced. I would look elsewhere when spending $100 on a souvenir from the islands.
