This store is a treasure trove of fossils, crystals, gemstones, and dinosaur items that is presented in a mythical museum sort of way. A really fun place to explore with lots of educational displays that were fun to experience. They sell bags of duck food for $1 which we took advantage of and enjoyed sharing just outside the shop with the plump ducks floating in the water. Near the entrance there were rows of semi-precious gemstone rings in an open display with price tags of $270 or so, which seemed odd to me because 1) if they were truly worth anywhere near that, they would not be out in the open like that and 2) I have purchased rings of near identical design and quality for $40. Perhaps the tourists pony up for these without knowing better? Either way I truly enjoyed the store and ogling their merchandise. I suppose this shop is OK if you are looking for small fossils and stones, but they carry fake and overpriced fossils being sold as authentic as well. Initially I wanted to give them two stars, but I don't think they deserve it considering they are openly willing to scam people. I would not trust any of the information given about some of their specimens. For example, they were selling a taxidermy painted bat, which is a South East Asian species of bat, and labeled it as being sourced from Texas. Note also that all SEA bats sold as oddities are also unethically overharvested and there's almost no way to ethically source bats for taxidermy. Fossils are also often incorrectly aged and labelled as well, I dont think the owners of this shop are knowledgeable enough to provide information on their items, let alone ethically source or sell them. As an example, I've included a photo of one of their fake Mosasaur skulls (of which they had several). Even apart from the crude sculpting, anyone who has worked with fossils or is familiar with reptile skeletal anatomy could tell you it is fake: -Mosasaur nares (nostril holes) are not at the tip of the snout, theyre higher up on the skull. -The orbit (eye hole) is too circular, and would be larger to accommodate the scleratic ring (eye bone present in many non-mammal vertebrates) when the animal was alive. -The skull is incredibly thick, squamate (snake, lizard, mosasaur family) skulls are rather thin and and have sutures all along the cranium and especially jaw, which would not be a single solid bone like what you would see in mammals. This skull was carved out of rock by someone who has no understanding of what reptile skulls look like. The fact they are trying to pass this item off as a real fossil is frankly absurd and I hope no one genuinely purchases thinking its real. This is only one example of a fake fossil being sold, of which there are several. But the shop has signs all over to not take photos, likely for the reason that they are easily proven to be fake. (Or unethical) I wanted to be charitable with my review, but with the amount of faked fossils as well as unethically harvested south east Asian animal parts, I cannot in good faith give this shop more than a single star. If you want a geode or Amethyst, Rocket Fizz in the same shopping center has cheaper options, and isn't trying to simultaneously scam people. read more

1 Star - Sold Me a Fake Fossil! I'm extremely disappointed with this store. Last year, I purchased what I was told was a real scorpion in fossilized amber for $100. Before buying, I specifically asked if it was authentic, and the woman running the store assured me it was. She claimed to be the co-owner, along with a paleontologist who had personally excavated the specimen in Colombia. Fast forward a few months--I tested the "amber" and realized it was just amber. I was shocked. To make matters worse, I recently started seeing the exact same scorpion-in-amber pieces for sale on Amazon--for under $15! These listings openly state that they are resin replicas, not real fossils. The same product is being mass-produced and sold on Etsy, eBay, and various Chinese marketplaces. This means the store knowingly sold me a fake for 10x the price and outright lied about its authenticity. Either they are deliberately scamming customers, or they are incredibly uninformed about their own products--neither is acceptable. Do not trust this shop. Such a beautiful store! They have crystals and all kinds of different rocks. They also have fossils that are super old! How cool is that. My dad bought a fossil that was really old. The also have mood rings and healing bracelets too. Make sure that you don't touch the displays. There is also no photography allowed inside. So no touching and no pics. I can understand the no touching as some of the items are very old! And most of the rocks looked fragile. Definitely not for kids to touch or pick up. They could easily drop or break the rocks. This is such a unique store! If you have any interest in rocks/ crystals, or fossils, make sure you stop by here! It is located in Lake Arrowhead. P.S. best of luck finding parking. Oh my goodness what an amazing experience. The owner of the store is so helpful, intelligent, and knowledgeable about her products. I had many questions about a variety of things all over the store and she was able to educate me and help me find what I wanted without being condescending or rude. All of these reviews saying she's rude.... I can tell you're tourists. Probably from the valley. The sense of entitlement these people have is LUDICROUS. Which brings me to my experience today. Owner? Brilliant. I'll come back when I have the money to buy what I really want. The patrons? Jesus Christ.... First of all, the front door says "do not touch anything, no photography, please ask for assistance." Then you get inside and there are clear, black and white labels, on EVERYTHING, saying "DO NOT TOUCH!! ASK FOR ASSISTANCE!!!" Just as clear to understand as the crystals they sell. There's a display, elevated beyond any child's reach, that says again "DO NOT TOUCH!! SERIOUSLY, THIS IS DEADLY!" And what would you know? Some entitled woman and her snotty kid touched it. I think the dad was holding the kid up and allowed him to touch it. The owner informed him to stop and that could kill, which is when they blew up on her!! They said "he's 5 he can't read!" I'm sorry, but what 5 year old can't understand no? You're the parent, it's your job to read. Anyways they blew up on her and she was still smiling and polite despite them literally insulting her and her business. She asked them to leave, very kindly, and to even have a good day. For a store that sells crystals, the vibes in this place are NOT IT. The owner/manager is incredibly rude. There's no pricing on the items which is just misleading and bizarre. There's also this dinosaur outside, which seems incredibly kid-friendly, but then inside the store there are countless signs stating "do not touch" or "parents: you're responsible if your kids break this." Finally, all of the shops at Lake Arrowhead Villages are weirdly strict with barking dogs and this shop is no exception. I am very familiar with the wholesale and market prices of crystals, fossils, and more, I network with more than half of the stores in Southern California, speaking from experience, wholesale and market price. I was a little hesitant to go in the first place because of the many reviews I saw that were negative and children breaking things and having to pay for them. I decided to go anyway as my son is a HUGE Jurassic World fan. He is a little wild so before we walked in i explained to him no touching and kept a close eye on. I forgot her name but one of the workers was super friendly and nice. She showed us some dinosaur teeth and other things my son would like. And at the end when we paid she gave my son a tiny dinosaur because he was wearing something that had dinosaur on it and that made his trip extra special. Beware of discrimination by a woman employee if you have kids under 18 and yes this is including teenagers. She assumes your kids/teenagers will damage items in the store. We visited this store many years ago and met with the very knowledgeable, welcoming gentleman owner and he was kind enough to educate my 13 year daughter about the different stones he had in his store. We left spending more $ than we intended to, but my daughter had a such a great experience. Fast forward...8/18/24, my daughter is few months away from turning 18. Because of my daughter's past experience, she wanted to go back. While shopping, a woman employee who was not the owner, asked my daughter rudely "where are your parents?" I asked her what her concern was. She proceeds to tell me of all the damage other kids have done with no parent around. Of course I questioned her concerns, but her answers had nothing to do with my daughter shopping just a few feet away from me and my daughter didn't even do anything to be treated so poorly and feel so unwelcome in the store by this employee who assumed and you know the saying about when you ASSume. I wish i could give this place zero stars. As everyone has mentioned, the owner is truly the WORST! First off, the outside is deceiving, it appears it would be a dinosaur store for kids, not an expensive jewelry and gem store. Second, my friend and i were with her son and he touched something that was towards the front where the owner was standing. She looked directly at him...not us...not the adults, and told him not to touch that. that it is poisonous and he will need to wash his hands immediately. She said this with a straight face, then proceeded to tell the 9 yr old boy who has severe anxiety btw, that if he doesn't wash his hand immediately that his liver will shut down and he will die. WTF? Yes, she seriously just told a child he was going to DIE. What kind of place is this? Who talks to customers that way and especially children. I know she couldn't have known his anxiety issues, but it should be obvious this isn't how you talk to people. I'm really surprised by all the negative reviews about the customer service at this shop. My family and I were just here this past weekend and we were treated very kindly. I was with my sister and her two kids and my son and we stopped in while we were waiting for our table at the local waffle place. My son loves all things dino so he was very excited. I wish I could remember her name, but the woman with blonde hair helped us and she was very kind. She did not rush us at all and gave us information about birth stones and helped my son pick a ring that he liked. When I told her about bad luck I had gotten from breaking a jade bracelet, she even gave me a piece of citrine on the house to counteract the negative energy and put some positive energy back in its place. We plan to visit the area often and we will definitely be back. In regards to the prices, I thought they were slightly higher than shops of this type that I have visited before but I was happy to patronize and I understand the need to recover costs due to Covid. We traveled often before Covid and we always stop at shops like this and buy souvenirs for my son since he loves rocks and things of that nature. I did not feel that the prices were that much more than what I have seen in the past in Big Bear and other areas and shops that are similar. Plus, her merchandise was beautiful and high quality. I visit the Lake Arrowhead often and the stores in the village are continuously changing. I was happy to find this nice gem, no pun intended. My friend Angie and I were drawn in by the cute dinosaur statue outside. Fun photo opportunity for adults and children. The owner greeted us when we came in. He was very nice. I spotted his Weimaraner near the register and asked if I could pet it. His dog was super sweet. How lucky to have a job where you can hang out with your dog all day. The store is super cool with really unique items. There were neat paintings, sculptures, gems, Jewelery items, skulls, dried frogs ( see picture) and other artifact type items. These were really nice wine racks sculpted from granite. I wanted one of the metal wire jewelry trees, but it was out of my budget. Many of the items were pricy but good quality. This store was so much fun! Wandered in here yesterday, just walking around Lake Arrowhead Village. First of all, the skull door handles, LOVE THEM! There was so much to look at in the store... and towards the back... in a gray dog bed, was the cutest little gray dog. I, in a moment of pure blonde, asked if the dog was real, as my friend was squealing OMG take a picture of me with the cute dog! I believe the dogs name was Chelsea, and she was sleeping and barely flinched when Jennifer D pet her, and leaned down for her picture. I found the shelf with the skull items on it, and was mesmerized. So many things I wanted. The pricing was a bit out of my range, but you could tell a lot went into making the items and the detail was amazing. I had so much fun just walking around looking and wanting. If you love dinosaurs, or all things pre-historic and awesome, you'll love this store! Our son is absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs and wanted to visit. Walking in it's a bit intimidating because it's nothing you'd expect it to be. There are so many gems in this store you really need multiple visits to completely appreciate everything they have to offer. So many fossils, crystals and minerals it's really incredible. We spoke with one of the owners who is a paleontologist and he was able to give us a plethora of information. We felt very welcomed in this store. That's such a simple thing but goes a long way with us. We plan on returning to purchase more pieces in the near future. They had Megalodon teeth! I mean, how cool is that! Our son had the opportunity to hold a Stegosaurus egg! That just doesn't happen and we'll never forget that experience. One of the most unique and fun stores I have ever been to! I was expecting more items geared towards kids but to my pleasant surprise they had goodies for me to look at too! This store had lots of very cool items my 7 year old Liam was in awe over. So many cool fossils, encased bugs he had never heard of, dinosaur goodies, arrowheads etc. I loved the handmade jewelry and gemstones it was a treasure trove! Kelly the shop owner was sweet as pie to me and Liam. She was very engaged with him and told us so many cool and interesting history and facts about fossils and gems. I bought a pendant of tree of life made with gems for me, Liam got a very cool arrowhead and some carved wooden animal statues and a very neat Tibetan musical instrument. Grandma got a hematite necklace. And for everything we got it was reasonably priced. This is a hidden gem at Lake Arrowhead. We are so happy we stumbled across Kelly and her amazing shop. We will stop there first and foremost next time we are lucky enough to be out this way! P.S. This is intended for the Karen's that have left one star reviews for this place because for some reason you can't manage to control YOUR children. My son is very good about not touching things for the most part. Sometimes he sees something so exciting he gravitates towards it about to touch but guess what (total shocker here) I am there as his PARENT to remind him to look with his eyes and not his hands. I truly used to love this place until they scammed me. It's very clear they painted the rocks to appear more exotic and expensive. Buyer beware. A more detailed account down below... I have bought so many things from this place and spent hours looking over everything they've had throughout the years. The last time I was there in December of 2021 I purchased two pieces. I had been looking for something to buy for my birthday for about a half hour when I saw these in the front window. They were $50 for the pair. I asked about them and the woman running the store grabbed them and quickly bagged them up. She didn't even hand them to me when she pulled them out of the window display she just said let me bag them up and now I know why She was looking at me in a weird way as she rung me up and I still didn't know why. They are usually very friendly but she didn't say much. I left the store but ran back in when I realized I didn't ask what kind they were. She said nothing when I asked but scribbled it on a piece of paper that they were from New Zealand or something. My fiancé agreed that she was acting weird. I left them safe and wrapped up and sent them with my parents when they moved to another state. Now that I have them again I'm so upset. The colors are so rich and I'd never seen any like them. I tried to google similar ones and found none. I theorized that they were painted and I could see little scrapes that revealed different colors than the rich black and blue. I chipped and scraped a few pieces off and confirmed that THEY WERE PAINTED or dyed or something. You can see that it's just a regular light tan rock with a white crystal but painted black and purple. AKA the cheapest things ever and the ones you pay like $5 bucks to break open outside of their shop. Even if they did this on purpose it was not advertised as such and I obviously am looking for natural rocks if I am coming to a store like this. I tried calling and left a detailed message and they never returned my call. They don't care and it's so hurtful because I LOVED that store. My whole rock collection is from them. But anyways... HORRIBLE CRUEL PEOPLE!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! My son is handicapped and mentally disabled. He loves dinosaurs! He was so excited when he saw this store and only want to spend money at this store. He has difficulty with speech and processing his surroundings. He takes pictures on his phone as a way to help himself communicate and adjust. We waited outside for an hour until it opened. As we walked inside he was taking random photos to be able to tell me what he wanted to buy...he never touched anything! We barely were in the door! The woman behind the counter began screaming at my son from across the store "CANT YOU READ! THE SIGN SAYS NO PHOTOS!" Ummm NO your horrible hag lady... he cannot read he is mentally disabled!!! They had a security guard and he moved forward to intimidate us. My son was absolutely terrified and began to cry! We turned around and left immediately! As we walked out a woman outside said they had screamed at her daughter as well. It took 3 hours to calm my son. He had done nothing to be treated that way!
