Cool little store, a little bit too pricey if you ask me, the chocolate was good, but I don't think it justified the prices.

It's a nice store. I love the seconds section up front and always look there for a good deal on chocolates. That is, unless I'm buying a gift. Then I always select from the firsts. The nonpareils are simply the best thing going. Some day I'll take the tour, though it doesn't look like something to plan the day around. All the same, I go for the chocolate and am never disappointed. read more

Loved the free factory tour! Unlike many tours, they let you take photos and give you free samples. Depending on what they're making at the time, you'll see something different. I saw almond bark being made and a man whose beard was covered with a "hair net." read more

The tour was amazing. The host was incredibly knowledgable and approachable. The samples were predictably delicious. The aztec hot chocolate and the blue bandana drinking chocolate both felt delicious and decadent on a drizzly June day. The employees were very helpful and I love the local focus of Lake Champlain. read more

Pros: Plentiful samples in the display room. Ice cream is so pure a one scoop requires two people to finish. Friendly staff. Cons: 30 minute tour should have been a 5 minute tour. The tour is a seated lecture, not an interactive walking experience. Difficult to hear the lecture with customers speaking in the display area, which is connected to the tour room. read more

Worth checking out if in the area. If you come between 11 and 4, you get to try samples for free. There is a piece of paper that defines the tastes, and you get to guess which chocolate is which. There were also truffle samples around the store for snacking as well. I definitely had a couple of those. Next, I tried the hot chocolate. I got the Tanzania dark hot chocolate. While it was in fact dark 75% (which I like), it had a bit of an unpleasant bite to it. I felt that way about most of their chocolates. It didn't have a smooth happiness to it that other beans I've had offer. It's not something I would buy in stores, but it was definitely worth popping in since we were in the area. Also - the prices are more than they are at whole foods. That was annoying. read more

This is definitely a cute stop if you're touring around Burlington. It's a very small store, but they have a tasting night, and tours on certain days. The tasting is interactive, and you get to try chips of different chocolates and take a quiz. They have a discount section of a few types of chocolate, and a variety of other chocolate bars and treats. read more

Spent $89 on a tiny box of 7 oz of chocolate orange peels and six bars of assorted chocolate-- passion fruit bar (didn't taste passion fruit), honey and habanero bar (hardly any heat but good honey flavor), and the spicy Aztec bar, the best of the bars by far with a good balance of heat, cinnamon and chocolate flavor. By the way, the small ice pack in the shipping box was totally defrosted at room temperature when delivered so glad it wasn't a hot day or it would have all melted. Organic or not, costing almost $90 for this amount of chocolate, I was expecting more. read more

I love Lake Champlain Chocolates. I honestly think it is THE best company out there, and that included Godiva. I like the store on Church Street but I love the Factory store! Its bigger and if you go at the right time its much quieter. They have a huge selection of truffles and assorted treats, much more than Church St. My husband loves the Vienna truffle- its his favorite! I'll stop by on my way home from work sometimes and pick up a few pieces- its usually pretty empty at that time. They also have factory seconds- "imperfect" treats they sell at a lesser cost. I could care less how they look and they certainly taste the same! I haven't done the tour but I've heard good things. Oh and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. I definitely suggest checking it out if you are in the area! read more

Tour guide was knowledgeable, and explained the difference between standard regular chcocolate and their higher end belgian style chocolates. The samples were good, and we bought a few to try. It was certainly a high quality rich chocolate, and an excellent variety to choose from. The "tour" consisted of a short video inside the store, which was a little disappointing, but it was a nice overview of the process. read more

We did the chocolate sampling, but FYI - you have to sit thru an hour of a PPT lecture before you get to sample. Chocolates are delicious, but it was a bit annoying. And we had this one lady who would not stop asking questions, so the PPT went over an hour. read more

if you love chocolate (and you happen yo be in the burlington vt area) here is a place to go. im not one for long boring tours, here you sit down enjoy a video and the free samples. again place is small but very comforting. they have a mini cafe in the back where you can have hot chocolate, ice cream and other chocolate goodness! this was my second time here and i still had a blast... and for people with nut/peanut allergies let the people know ans they will tell you what has what... mind you they are process on the same machines that handles peanuts and other nuts so if your allergies are high i don't recommend eating their chocolates T_T read more

One of my favorite places to stop while in Burlington. Unique chocolate flavors, but the best part is the area where they sell it at a huge discount. The chocolate is perfectly fine, but has small dents in it, so therefore they're cheaper. read more

I came here for the chocolate tasting and tour, and wasn't disappointed! Upon entering you are greeted with the amazing aroma of chocolate. There are cases full of truffles and all sorts of goodies on the shelves for purchase. They even have a small ice cream and coffee station of course utilizing their chocolate. There's plenty of different kind of things to choose from. They had samples of whole pieces of candies on the counter right from the get go which of course was excellent! We wandered around before the tasting/tour began. It was actually quite informative and interesting to hear all about how the company started and their ideals and what they strive for. It was neat seeing the workers actually making the products through the big window as we were sitting there. Although there wasn't a TON of samples, I personally thought that they were very generous with them. Yes, they have you taste a few different kinds of chocolate chips but also at the end they gave us two different kinds of chocolate confections to take. If you're thinking they are gonna load you up then you will be disappointed and should go to the grocery store to stock up on whatever cheap brand will give you your fill. Quality over quantity :) I would recommended this as a nice short thing to do thats a little bit different! read more

Factory Tour is very simple. The tour consists of watching a brief video then looking through a large window overlooking the factory floor. The staff and tour guide were very well versed in all aspects of the company and their products. Their chocolates are some of the best I have had. Make sure to arrive near the hour or half hour for the tours. read more

This is a fabulous place! I could get lost in here. The hot cocoas was so yummy (they have a great cafe there) and the chocolates... well it is just chocolate heaven. So much more than typical Milk, Dark, and White Chocolate. I brought my kids and they were just as thrilled, which you think would be easy... kids in a chocolate factory. First challenge - one of them has Celiacs (cannot have wheat/gluten). She is sensitive enough that she cannot eat gluten free pizza from a regular pizza place because of all the flour in the air. Even though these are produced on the same equipment as those that have gluten containing ingredients, after taking the tour we took the chance and tried them. On the tour I could see that their plain bars leave the more intricate machinery to be wrapped, which yes could potentially have transfer if it wasn't thoroughly cleaned in between, but it's a small chance. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but she did not have any reaction at all despite having a very good amount of exposure with all the chocolate we bought. She stuck to the packaged bars and did not have the specialty pieces on display. Her dad and I, on the other hand, sampled those and were not disappointed in the least. I can honestly say their truffles are worth the price. I didn't think so but bought two anyway and wow! just wow! The other child we have doesn't like chocolate. At all, not in any form. Hates it. Complained the entire time leading up to our visit. Didn't want to even touch or smell the cocoa forms presented during the tour, but did sample some of the white chocolate mini chips when I picked them out for them and liked those. But what really changed his mind was the wall of non-chocolate candy. Gummy worms and swedish fish and rock candy and And AND! such a simple thing and it made my life way easier. Great place. The tour is free and frequent. The candies have all ranges of prices so it doesn't have to cost a ton. The product is fabulous. Not sure what else you'd want! read more

Great rainy day activity in Burlington! Not sure how many chocolate factories there are to tour in the USA, it seems like a rare opportunity. The 'tour' is actually a talk with videos and slides on a elevated platform that overlooks the factory floor. Very educational and includes some taste testing. I especially enjoyed leaning about the chocolate industry and how it works from bean to finished product. Of course the store is incredible and hard to resist buying too much. Tour?? Not quite...you sit and watch a movie and an employee shows you some beans and pods. oh ya, you get to taste chocolate chips. Then you look over your shoulder to your right and through the windows you see some chocolate machines. That's it. Unimpressed with the "tour" although the s shop is cute and chocolate is delish.
