We attended a Spring Art and Craft fair. There is plenty of parking and it was free. The fair was located in a large event center. It is a large building with good lighting. 4 stars for the Lake County Fairgrounds. They have some fun festivals/fairs/conventions here throughout the year. I recently attended the Lake County Fair, which was pretty fun, but the food vendors are very expensive in comparison to other fairs that have the same food items for sale. The other vendors are fun and have cool stuff to browse. The indoor expo is pretty nice too, I like they have a break from the heat with some fun stuff inside too. Overall, it's worth a visit if there's something at LCFG you want to see. read more

While growing up in Lake County, my family and I would visit the Lake County Fairgrounds every year, excited to eat fair food, enjoy rides and see the animals. Since I was visiting home the weekend of the fair, my family and I decided to head on over for old time's sake. My favorite part of the fair was obviously the food! You name it, they had it. I tried the Philly Cheesesteak Fries and they were absolutely amazing! My daughter had the churros and ice cream and it was a hit as well. While we were there, we rode a few of the rides which is always a lot of fun! One of the ride attendants even gave us free tickets to a ride of our choice which was very nice. The highlight of the fair was definitely riding a camel!! We absolutely couldn't resist and for $10/ride, it was worth it! It's always fascinating to visit the animals as well and learn about the care of each farm animal. It's not the most pleasant of smells but it's very cool to experience them so up close and personal. Overall, my family and I had a great time at the Lake County Fairgrounds and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! read more

I went there today for the Antique Vintage Market but entering the building was extremely difficult for the handicapped in mobility scooters and wheelchairs. The double doors have a vertical bar in the middle, making for a tight fit. There are no employees to assist the handicapped. I don't think that this acceptable for Americans With Disabilities. read more

Came for the food truck festival. Of course after seeing pictures of abused animals on other reviews I lost my appetite. Definitely won't be coming back to support this place no matter what event they're hosting. As for THIS festival it was just ok. The lines and placement of the trucks are crazy, some lines are basically bumping into each other. Not all the trucks listed showed up which was a big disappointment, I really wanted to try the cereal infused ice cream. The lot itself is a mess and there is goose poop all over the place. There's no where near enough tables to sit at, I had to share one. The food was good, but that's thanks to the trucks not the fairgrounds. I see this business is unclaimed and I can see why, if I was running this place I'd want my name far away from it too. Do yourself a favor and avoid these fairgrounds like it's the plague! read more

We attended the Lake County Fair. We started with pretty low expectations and still were disappointed. The demolition derby started with a 30-minute "demolition derby" of 10-year-olds bumping their little motorized Barbie cars and Jeeps into each other to pop the balloons. Ten minutes would have been cute; 30 minutes was agonizing. THEN the adult cars came out and there was ANOTHER 15 minutes of voting for how they were decorated! We were 45 minutes into it before anything happened. Ugh. The 4WD company's announcer did the same old shtick to pump the crowd but it rang pretty hollow considering how lame the action was. I'm not sure we really needed to all pray before the race. The fried food booths delivered typical fare but it was all too expensive -- $13 for a basket of fancy french fries was silly. Admission at $15 plus $20 for parking, etc. etc., it could get pretty expensive if you were there with your kids. The dog show was cute for about 10 minutes, and the pig racing was also fun for the first 10-second, one-lap race (~100 feet total), but the second race was just more of the same. Y'all are custies, #1 this garbage should be free #2, if you think animals are any less than us you are literally scum of the earth. Bunnies feet are very sensitive and standing in tiny cages all day every day is not okay for them, same with having little kids poking and prying at them all day everyday and having nowhere to hide. Same goes for all of the goats, pigs, cows, etc. The woman watching the stand for the owner also yelled at me for simply asking what the name of the owners were and asking why the white bunny was bald?? read more

Huge with lots of parking but pretty dated and dirty. This place could use a good cleaning and renovation.

We went recently for the RV show hosted by General RV. The fairgrounds has ample parking. The main building where the RV show was clean and well maintained. They have a concession stand that was opened and serves hot dogs, burgers, pop and other food items. read more

$10 admission and $10 for parking (closer but still pretty far). This place is a money pit. They are a standard county fair, maybe a bit larger in sq feet. I went this weekend for the first time in 3 years. The prices were pretty high and not all of the food vendors took credit and so I found myself hitting the atm. Who knew that $40 cash could only get you (parking, admission, cheese bites, a lemonade and a pretzel). Kind of sad IMO. Anywho they had the demolition derby (it was pretty good) I liked the 17 trailer race as the finale. A lot of structural carnage, yes! I saw the animals in the barns and a few other attractions. The Lake County Fair is not a pleasant experience. I've avoided it for so long due to the conditions and improper care for the animals. It's like walking through a nightmare/horror movie. Everything the fair represents is completely sick. They disguise it as a harmless fun carnival for friends and family but really it's a livestock auction, it's unsettling and creepy. Children shouldn't have to see that and animals shouldn't be treated as money making objects. It's an overwhelming amount off innocent animals trapped in tiny spaces with muzzles and price tags punched through their ears. It is not a petting zoo. I would NEVER bring my child to have "fun" there. HIGHLY do not recommend read more

Went to the lake county fair and I definitely wasn't impressed to say the least. 1st off there was a groupon for this that I missed out on (total drag) But I don't mind paying regular price if the experience is worth it. Adults were only $8 & our lil guy (3 years old) was free. Tickets are $20 for 22 or you can get an unlimited wrist band (I recommend that cause you go through the tickets fast) They have a good selection of rides for adults and for the lil ones. Food from the "fair food" booths is gross. If I would have seen the Sammie's booth I would have went there instead. Stick to reputable food providers Wanted to end the trip with some ice cream but that was an epic fail. Ice cream looked like frozen chocolate ice with no milk at all. Absolutely tasteless read more

Tons of parking, clean bathroom facilities, smells like a fairground...I'm a fan! Perfect venue for the Dirty Girl Mud Run (5K race + 12 obstacles)! Mud pits, tire obstacles, hay bale and cargo rope climbs. Kind of gravely, grassy running terrain, but this is the Dirty Girl Mud Run so that is to be expected! Minus 1 star for the freezing cold hose shower and massive "changing area" in the goat pen?! How are you supposed to change into clean clothes on a dirt floor in the goat pen?? Need a better system for getting clean next year.... Set up temporary overhead showers or sprayers please! Great space for vendors and live bands. Indoor space for flea markets and outdoor space for the annual Lake County Fair with petting zoo, flower show, pens for the 4-H pig and goat competitions, live entertainment and food vendors. LCF held the Dirty Girl Run this summer. They were able to hold a 5K obstacle course no problem. They had vendors, concessions, and a beer area. The lines were never too long and they staff was friendly. The bathrooms were large and in the beginning they were clean, but after the women found out that there were no real "showers" they went into the bathrooms trying to clean themselves off. I must agree with Judy P, they need to come op with a better "shower" area. At least get some warm water in there! Regardless, GREAT job hosting the Dirty Girl Run! I'm sure they do a great job hosting other events too. read more

Perfectly standard Midwest county fair. There were food vendors, service vendors typical of any county fair. The animal barns are pretty clean all things considered. This year there were chickens, turkeys, rabbits, goats,sheep, pigs and cows. The grandstand was in full use with a demolition derby. Parking on grass is free and it's $10 to park on concrete. Honestly we parked in the grass as some parking in the paid area was just as far or further to walk than where we were in the grass. Admission was $10 for adults and children under 5 are free. Midway has 22 tickets for $20. They had rides for both the little ones and adults. Nothing fancy but not bad either. It's a perfect way to get your fix of fair food and fun. read more

Went here for the 2014 Easter egg hunt. They had Easter eggs scattered amongst hundreds of animal bones and remains. No one bothered to clean anything up beforehand. I couldn't believe the negligence displayed at this event. I hope no children get sick. read more
