    Weekend fun in the country!!
    Chelsea R.

This lake is a must visit when you're in the country!! I really love driving out here because it feels like a bit of a getaway from DFW but it really is not. They have the cutest country houses that sit up on rolling hills and then you have this big beautiful body of water. Rent a boat or whatever you need. I was down there a bit for Memorial Day weekend and had a great time. We sat out there a while and watched the boats on the water. I was happy to hear a friend is getting a place out here right on the lake so I hope to visit more often! If you are outdoorsy you will certainly enjoy. They also have a cute café nearby if you need a quick meal or beverage before your boat day or whatever you have planned. If you live in Dallas I'd plan on saving full day just to come out here because it is just under a 2 hour drive outside of town. Enjoy the country views!

Rick Taff, owner of Lake Granbury Marina, helped celebrate a 50th birthday aboard one of his pontoon rentals.

My friends and I visited the Lake Granbury Marina and rented a pontoon for the day. We met Rick Taff, owner of the marina, and he provided expert guidance to help us make the most of our day -- from suggestions on the best places to anchor to his favorite cocktail at Stumpy's ("a ride home" -- I definitely recommend). His staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. We were celebrating a 50th birthday with this girls' trip and Rick made sure that we had a truly special experience!

We have a neighbor who had caught 13 crappie (a family fave!) the day before, so we had high hopes for our catch considering they are spawning right now. I think our neighbor might have caught most of them because my dad was the only one who caught a big crappie amongst the 4 of us. I did catch a bass and a little perch, but it was a slow catch that took nearly 6 hours. Many went home empty-handed (including a lot of regulars) this day, so I can't complain. Did I mention I got some good vitamin D? Oh, and fresh air!! Yea, oxygen won as my best catch of the day. I think it's best to come on a weekday when less people are out. This way, if the fish are biting, they have fewer baits to choose from. I like this place. Entry is $5 per person. There are a few off-limit areas near the boat dock and walkways. I get it, but a bummer from a fishing standpoint since crappie like to hang out around structures (i.e. decks, fences, etc.) We found out that you can bring your boat out for $7, which is a better deal even if only 2 people are fishing. My dad has a boat, so we'll probably go that route next time. We were advised that they close the dock at 8 pm and you absolutely will get locked in the lake if your boat is not out of the water by then. Careful! If you plan on coming out a lot, an annual membership will cost you $135. As it relates to social distancing, I was honestly disappointed to see that many didn't seem to be doing that out there and very few had masks on when talking to each other. We still need to care for ourselves and each other, people! Things are not back to normal. Nonetheless, it is still doable to stay distanced and take your own precautions (like I did), if you're planning on coming out. Let's not live in fear, but let's keep doing our part to fight.

Hey buddy - instead of having a sign stating 'no alcohol on the premises' in the corner of the establishment where nobody can see it - place signs WHERE THE BEER IS LOCATED so it is visible. And another thing.....I advise not going to the grill during lunch time....heaven forbid you disrupt the young cook on her lunch break while talking with her friends.....she made it visually and verbally known that we inconvenienced her. I'm a pretty patient person and nearly lost my sh** on both of them. Inexcusable behavior to say the least. Marinas are SUPPOSED to be fun.

We came to visit some friends on their 33 foot boat. Along the dock, the boat owners set tables, chairs, and grills like a patio area, and seem to have formed a warm and friendly community. The security gate stood at the entrance to the dock, but was standing open. Renters pay over $500 per month to store their boats here, which seemed high to me, but I'm not a boat owner. The parking lot has an uneven dirt base, with some gravel scattered here and there. The whole place conveyed a feeling of being abandoned. I'm not a big lake culture guy, but had I driven up here looking to rent I would be expecting low, low budget prices to store my boat. The docks are quite large, with many slips containing boats that were large enough to live in full-time. Our experience on the lake was very positive. I just wasn't sure what to make of this place.

Not sure exactly how old the marina is but it is not worth what you have to pay to rent a slip. Their lease requires you to give up just about any right you think you might have, even if they are negligent. They just went up on the rates so now it's way over priced imo. We are somewhat trapped in this marina since they are the only one that has large enough slips for our boat. We will be having our 40' boat pulled out of the water and shipped to another lake as soon as we can... whatever it takes to get away from them/ Suntex marinas. New Manager is just plain overboard. Stay away from them would be our advice!
