The office at Lake Joy Dental is very nice--clean, modern, and welcoming. The associates are friendly, professional, and the overall atmosphere feels polished. I originally switched to this dentistry because they accepted my insurance (unlike the dentist near my house). I figured it would save me money to go somewhere in-network. What raised a red flag for me was that as soon as I switched, I was suddenly told I needed a crown and had a cavity--despite being told everything looked great just six months earlier at my previous dentist. I'm not a dentist, so I trusted their x-rays and advice, and went ahead with the work. Here's the problem: my mouth felt perfectly fine before the procedures. Afterward, I experienced pain and sensitivity that lasted an entire year. I couldn't eat on one side of my mouth--hot, cold, spicy, it didn't matter. When I brought this up at my 6-month checkup, I was told it was "normal" to have sensitivity after that type of work. But after a full year with no relief, they attempted to file down the tooth. The assistant even mentioned I might eventually need a root canal (which they outsource). Sure enough, I woke up one day in extreme pain and had to go back to my old dentist. They were able to get me in immediately, did the root canal in-house, and since then I've been pain-free. I won't be back to Lake Joy Dental. I'm not claiming they push unnecessary treatments, but in my experience, the work I received here caused more harm than good. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket cost was high, and I would rather pay more with my old dentist for excellent work than save a little and deal with long-term discomfort. read more

I highly recommend Dr Murray. I had some serious work on a tooth and Dr Murray and Sheila assisted and they took the best care of me.. I absolutely had no pain. We were patients since the day they opened. Three times the office changed my appointment scheduled 6 months in advance. The reschedule was always at least 4 to 8 months later. They rescheduled my April appointment to October. In August I received an email that the insurance they accept is going through changes. Ihave tried getting verification of my insurance. Noone ever calls back. I found out yesterday they do not know what insurance will be accepted. The dentist that purchased the practice in August has not decided. The answer was pay up front and file. Trying to find a new dentist is a nightmare. They are booking for next year. So about $1200 in dental insurance this year and never got to use it. What a way to treat loyal customers ​ read more

I have seen this place go from being my favorite Dentist office to one of the worst I have ever dealt with. I typically visit the office about every 6 weeks, as I wear Invisalign. A quick 10 minute appointment to check the old trays, give me new ones and I'm out the door. In the last year and half they have gone from short wait times for scheduled appointments, to waiting for 30 mins to in excess of 1 hour to be called back. If you call the office to reschedule an appointment, you get a voice answering service. Most times they wont return your call until the following week, if they do at all. Their messaging service is about the same consistency. When you have an appointment scheduled the office calls and will leave a voicemail which states if they do not get confirmation of your attendance they can drop your appointment. The problem is you cannot get ahold of their office. If you get to speak to someone it is always very difficult to get another appointment time, if you do have a conflict. Last year I tried to reschedule a cleaning in July and was told I had to come back the following year. 6 months? The biggest complaint I have with Lake Joy Dental, is that is has become commonplace to be waiting in their lobby for an hour, on your scheduled appointment, that you arrived 15 mins early for. None of the front desk staff speak to you once you are signed in, no explanation for the delays, no apologies or empathy for your wait. If you approach them and ask why you are waiting so long, they say we're a little behind today. I can tell you I do not know what is going on at this office, but they have been a lot behind far more frequently this year, than being on time or just a little late, for your schedule appointment. I am certain I will get a reply to this review, which states to call the office number, as they have done to the rest of the negative reviews here. I sat in the office yesterday for an hour and the phone did not ring once. If your only response to a review is to call the office line, which doesn't get answered, to deal with an office staff that doesn't seem to care, then why even bother? Just say what you're implying, "WE DON'T CARE!!" I would love for the office manager or the owner or someone to contact me, since there is no where on their web page where you can contact them, other than the number that is typically never answered. I want to find a new dentist home for my annual cleanings and Invisalign and to warn others not to give them their business. read more

When I tell you common courtesy is not in the office of Lake Joy Dental Care, believe it!!!! I travel 35 miles and they let me sit in the waiting room an entire hour before they tell me they have to reschedule me not once but three times, this had happened to me!!! It only takes 5 seconds to pick up a phone and call a patient before they travel 35 miles. Plus over the age of 60 !!!!! I need a good dentist that offers good service plus common courtesy from their staff!!!!!! read more

I'm not going back because of the staff and the dentist being pushy to have my cavities filled, plus get some crown work done (especially the crown work which I really didn't need) so I got two more review from two different dentist and they both said I had no cavities and because of my jaw line and the size of the teeth I have, that crowns would cause extensive damages to both my teeth and jawline which would require serious surgery and I don't want that. Plus when I refused to let her crown me, she had the audacity to take and ground one of my tooth to the point it cracked and she said "I'll fix it when I get to crown my mouth"!! That was the last time I let her touch my mouth!!! Now I go to a different dentist and he is fixing everything she has screwed up in my mouth and personally....I would stay away from this place!!! Do not use this dental clinic!!! They failed to file insurance correctly for 2 years and then 4 years after told me u had to pay the bill. It should have been completely covered per them and our insurance. Bill is almost $2,000 for 3 members of my 4 member family. They filed one if correctly during the same period. The staff are defensive if you ask questions about billing or care options. I was pushed into a corner instead of served at the main desk when asked about the application of a credit to floride and cancer screenings that were less than the credit, the staff member covered the paper with her arm to prevent me from viewing the "math." When I asked her to let me see and reached for the paper, she said I had "touched" her. Additionally, a substitute hygenist was in the room instead of the one I was scheduled with. While I was in the chair puzzling over the math of the previous overcharge, she began asking lifestyle questions that my chart would have indicated were not appropriate. Additionlally, I found it difficult to respond with her hands in my mouth. When the dentist finally came in, the dentist and hygenist conversed about their children and play dates. When they hygenist discovered there weren't any toothbrushes for the take home bag, she made a "joke" about how I would need to just buy my own. I was so relieved when I received a letter by certified mail advising that "a difference in the philosophy in respect to interpersonal communications" warrented dismissal from their "practice." I wish I had read these reviews when shopping for an in-network dentist and saved myself and my insurance company from engaging with such a substandard approach to customer comfort. read more

There are a few things I am not happy with them, especially with their dentists, so I don't even know where to begin. I used to love annual visits before I moved this area. The dentists are not available to talk ( they keep you wait for a long time ). Our communications were 98% of times via hygienists. I won't even go talk about an "abscess" occured shortly after I had a crown done with them. Did she sit down talk about that? Of course not. A hygienist handed me a referral to a specialist. You have to watch what you are getting done here at this business. They will add a cancer screening and fluoride treatment and will only tell you the total today. Imagine my surprise when I had to pay money after what I thought was a bi-annual cleaning. This happened every single time, if you do not drill them about what you're about to have done, they will tack things on. The staff was very friendly & professional from the time I walked in the door until the procedure was done. This is a thieving dental office. Patient beware! I have had dental insurance for 25 years. 3 years with the current company. It pays for 2 cleanings a year and X-rays. I even let these thieves up sell me for a cancer screening and fluoride that I paid an extra $40 for out of pocket. 3 weeks after my appointment I get a $85 bill for X-rays. I call and could get nowhere with the office. This is a "in network" office too. I will NEVER darken their door again nor pay the $85. I suggest you go elsewhere read more

I thought I should update everyone regarding my last review. We saw a different dentist and it seems that we were told that my husband 7 cavities that needed filling. When, in fact, He only had two. We were also told that there was nothing wrong with the tooth that was worked on at lake joy dental care. Also, even without insurance our new dentist is way more affordable. Lake joy charges 25 percent more than everywhere else. We were told by our new office that these are common complaints that they hear when they get lake joy patients. Our new office stated the price for every single thing they offer instead of surprising you when you check out. "You need a fluoride treatment and it's just 30 when you leave." "We can do sedation if you want it and it's just 45 when you check out" rather, at lake joy they say " hey I'm gonna do a fluoride treatment now " and don't mention anything about prices and sedation not being covered.They just do it and then surprise you afterwards. You can't provide a service and then not tell the patient it's extra money that insurance doesn't cover? (This has nothing to do with the extra money they made me pay because they didn't know they couldn't do two fillings on the same tooth and get paid for them both) I am hoping this helps other people who are trying to find a new dentist and have limited funds so they don't get snaked into false treatments for perfectly good teeth and services they didn't agree to pay for! Also, our new office allows you speak in detail regarding what is covered and what is not and make sure everything is transparent regarding upfront pricing without insurance and what your insurance covers and what they do not. I came down here to Georgia from West Virginia. In West Virginia I met a dentist who had my need in mind no matter what and made me feel comfortable going to the dentist again. Well I went here thinking the same thing about this dental office. I was proved wrong and I feel let down completely. They pushed me to get a bridge done so I agreed under pressure as I suffer from high anxiety. They shaved two perfectly good teeth down to put this bridge in and they. Filled the other cavities in my mouth. As soon as it happened my teeth became really sensitive and painful to things, when I had the "cavities" nothing hurt. They told me it was normal and should subside. Here I am at least a year and a half later and I'm still struggling with my teeth hurting and feeling overall sensitive to everything even lukewarm water when brushing, and it's extremely painful to floss. I won't be going here again, and I have another dentist appointment scheduled to check out the shoddy work that was done and possibly do something about it. read more

Lake joy dental care -- don't go.. We are new to the area and I had my dental appointment in December and they were fine, nothing special nothing bad.. I have three dental insurances and they could only file two. The third one they said I had to file and they would give me everything I needed. I called twice and asked for them to send x-rays etc to insrance and thry never had I lost $135, but Lake joy doesn't care about me. I scheduled an appointment in March for our son who was away at college to be seen May 28th. I called the morning of May 28 to confirm appointment and they cancelled it because they were closing for the holiday. They said they called him in April once, but he is a teen and his voice-mail was not set up. They didn't reschedule as a place holder or make any other attempts to contact like texting or email. They told me they could not get him until 31 August, but he will be back in college by then. What is worse about this situation was their attitude. I talked to four different people and none seem to care. So I found another dentist for him and I am moving too. They don't care about people. If I could have given a zero star I would have. read more

I can't even begin to tell y'all how MAD I am at the dentist I took my children to last month. Lake Joy Dental is right around the corner from our house and very convenient. After their cleaning and examination by the dentist, I was called back to the exam rooms and was told that my daughter had 7 cavities and my son had 4! I take my kids to the dentist every 6 months without an issue. So, I was extremely confused by their diagnosis. I asked around some of my newer friends which dentist they use and I was recommended to go to Dr. Pierce. Well that was today. Dr. Pierce's office took new X-rays and found NO CAVITIES in my son and ONE in my daughter. And get this... the cavity that she has wasn't even one that they listed as having a cavity. Really!?!?!? Dr. Pierce said he couldn't believe what I was telling him and that it is an injustice. I asked him by them filling 7 cavities would that affect the integrity of the structure of her teeth? He said absolutely. Lake Joy Dental did this to another family that works with my husband. How many other individuals and families have they schemed and how much fraud are they committing to all the insurance companies they are contracted with? Well, not this family! I was new to the area and went to Lake Joy because they had good reviews. I should have stuck with a privately owned dentist. I went to have a cavity filled and the dentist told me to call if I began having throbbing pain. A few days later, I called because my face was swollen, I was running a high fever, and I was in so much pain that medicine wouldn't help relieve. I called the office and they said they wouldn't be able to get me in for atleast a week. I called around and a privately owned dentist was able to get me in same day. She began treating the abscess with antibiotics and said I would need a root canal because the filling was into the pulp and the tooth was dead. After seeing a specialist for the root canal and another office for the crown, I am out of pocket thousands of dollars. I have insurance, but these procedures are only covered 30%. I was very disappointed in the care I received after the fact. Lack of care from the front staff and no help in trying to fix what happened. Even if I never see the money, an apology would have been nice... I don't recommend this office .
