It's a big old lake with a nice beach and lots of water. Right next to it they've got tons of camping either tent or camper. They've got hook ups. They've got rentals. They got a quaint little shop to buy stuff. They got a big playground right next to some restrooms, which is good if you have little kids. Across from the main campground, there's some big trees that have an eagle nest in it. It's pretty cool to see them. read more

We stayed here while in town for the Country Concert and we're lucky enough to book the very last eclectic site we saw available for the weekend. So glad we did!!! That party scene just wasn't for us. The site we got was 46 literally next to the dump station, like 15 feet. I don't think many people left while we were there so it didn't have a big impact. That's also where the water is located so if we needed to fill that would have been easy to do without moving. The park is much bigger than expected with playground, game areas, mini golf, kayak rentals available, beach, etc. There wasn't much info provided during check in on these so we didn't know they were available until it was too late to use. Would have been nice to know so we could plan our days a bit better. Overall it was a great decision for us but if we weren't occupied by the concerts all weekend there wouldn't have been much in the area to do. read more

We absolutely love the campground at Lake Loramie and usually go there a few times a year. We like to stay on sites next to the water whenever possible. This last time we stayed at site 100 on the canal. While it's in a great location and full service, this is an extremely tiny site. I doubt if we stay in this particular site again because of that reason. Also, they apparently didn't have time to mow the grass on this site between campers because it was quite high. Other than that, our camping trip was fantastic. Lake Loramie has lots of options. You can rent boats, take hikes, there's plenty of things for children to do if you take them along, and the fishing is good. There are also several good restaurants nearby. read more

Lake Loramie State Park - Beach - Campgrounds Near Me - Minster, Ohio

This is a nice place to camp out, fish, boat, or just enjoy nature. It had been a few since I last shadowed its marshy banks, but the lake, its campground, and surrounding wilds haven't lost its rural pleasures. I stopped by to join old friends on a bike ride, but stayed afterwards to check the 407-acre camp's amenities. It offers the basics for those with campers or tents: electricity on most plots, a well maintain bathroom, a dumping station, water station, and a modern must--free Wifi. There is no cable, nor sewer or water hook-up. They have a site to purchase snacks, ice cream, wood, and bate. There are a few channels to the lake. The campsite also has a unguarded swimming area, complete with sand. The lake itself is 1655 acres, large enough for adventures and fishing, but not as large as Grand Lake St Mary's just up the road. I am not sure if this lake has the same algae problem as that one, but the day I visited there were no signs of the devastating sludge. The lake was dug in the 1840s to feed the canal built to connect Erie with the Ohio. In my experience it is better for fishing then boating; it is mostly no wake, though there is no horsepower restriction. A sailboat would do well, but the lake is not ideal for skiing. As for fishing, it has your usual Ohioan fresh water flappers: crappie, bluegill, catfish, carp, and largemouth bass. Banking the water are many wetlands and greenly coves that shelter birds--herons especially-- and other animals. read more

Let me say that I was 100% impressed with Lake Loramie. I'm used to Indian Lake which people rave about even though the entire place is dirty and slimy and there's nothing to do besides stare at murky water with dead fish, so the clean spacious Lake Loramie was a refreshing change of scenery. Gorgeous land, TONS of walking paths and a cute bridge crossing the water, huge brand new bathrooms that were super clean and had showers, lots of swing sets and play areas for kids, and a bunch of benches and roof-top areas for adults to relax. You can swim, boat, fish, camp your RV or even rent out one of the 3 little wood cabins they have right by the water. Such an awesome place to spend a hot summer's weekend. My ONLY complaint would be the amount of dog feces littered all over the park. It really surprised me since the park and the entire town look so spotless and tidy. Obviously I blame the lazy pig owners of the dogs and not the park itself since there were several posts with free doggie plastic bags being provided to clean up the messes...but humans are disgusting and think that because it's outdoors their dogs can go anywhere free of charge and they don't have to clean up the mess. IT'S A PARK, PEOPLE! KIDS & ADULTS ARE RUNNING AROUND BAREFOOT TO SWIM! THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO AVOID ACRES OF DOG LOGS THAT OWNERS COULD EASILY CLEAN UP WITH THE FREE BAGS THE PARK GRACIOUSLY PROVIDES! Disgusting...but again, I blame the owners and not the park itself because no matter how many signs you have posted or what kind of rules you display, people will do what they want to do anyways and trash up a beautiful park out of laziness and selfishness. It's a real shame because Lake Loramie is absolutely gorgeous and a great place to unwind. Just watch your step. read more

The lake is 6ft deep as the deepest, and a constant murky brown. There is a sandy beach with a safe swimming area near the campground. I had fun playing in the sand as a child, but if you're used to real ocean beaches, this will be a disappointment. The only real caution I would give is that the campground is prone to flooding, but only if the lake itself overflows its banks. Also, the toxic algae blooms that have plagued all Ohio lakes have not been as bad here as at other state parks. read more

Too shallow for larger boats , brown water but lots of room for play volleyball and fun for kids !
