Pete leveled the roads and got rid of the mud spots! The campground was pretty full and the number of bags going in, matches the volume of people there. I contacted the owner and he blamed it on someone in the apt there. The recycling was never picked up or dropped off for the entire month. Fast forward to last week. Police came in several times when the owner returned. It was apparent after seeing him with Mike's hard drink in hand in the morning, that's the problem. This guy drives the tractor then and smashes a bunch of things including a picnic bench. I was scared he was going to hit my RV when he drove it. Then he starts trying to fix the road himself (it was fine when he came back). He starts dumping dirt all over it. Pete fixes it again after that. Oh yeah the dog park, they didn't put in a swing gate so the dog park is way overgrown and they can't get a mower in. Who wants to take their dog into a tick park? Then comes Friday and we see him go outside in the morning during the daylight and take a poop outside in public (bathrooms are across the street from him). Fast forward to when we are trying to leave and he's pouring mud all over the roads. Thankfully he didn't cover the one side and we were able to get out. The campground owner needs rehab, 100%. I don't feel he's a bad guy, just stuck in a drunken stupor. This is a quiet, no-frills campground. We never had any issues with the water electric or any hook ups. We definitely did not drink the water there as we never drink campground water anyway. Sites are pretty level. It rained heavy a few times and our site stayed pretty dry. As long as the owner is not present, things are ran and look great.

Rates are competitive. The grounds and facilities are meticulously maintained. Shower rooms are very clean. We leave our travel trailer here and come several times a month for a few days. That is one way to cope with the fuel crunch and not have your RV/TT sit in your driveway unused. I would recommend Misty Mountains without reservation.

Detour is 6 miles in a roundabout way through sheep pastures, cow pastures, horse stables, random deer in fields, tandem horses / buggy driving on an unimproved road, lots of horse and cow "muffins", and a huge fallen branch of a tree that obstructed half the road. Once at the KOA, we were pleased w bathrooms (the flush factor was fabulous), tent sites, other amenities. One of the better KOAs on this trip.

Let's just say, we aren't totally the dedicated campers where we need to pitch tents, bring all the accessories and sleep on the ground. That's why this place especially stood out as they had luxury cabins for rent. Or as my partner said, I'm good as long as I have air conditioning and running water! The cabin came with a screened-in porch, an outdoor fire pit for evening s'mores, a loft where the kids slept, a full living room and kitchen with refrigerator another room with bunkbeds, a bathroom and then the master bedroom at the back of the cabin complete with dressers to put away your clothes. I'm one of those people that always unpacks and must have things organized, so it was a lifesaver. You can rent golf carts, highly recommended as the grounds are spacious and some of the cabins are located far away from the activities. There are also communal laundry facilities, which were great to have since we had to use them day 1 of our trip! The common area offers free activities like playgrounds, mini golf, character meet n' greets and wagon rides along with firetruck rides. Other activities cost extra like ceramic making, tie die shirt making, glitter tattoos and several others. Some nights they offer free movie screenings and other programs. Overall, this was like camping without the pain! That's my kind of camping. Cabin rentals are a little pricey, but with all that space, it could accommodate a large family or even combine it with others to help split the cost. Finally, the biggest hit was the water park. This is a can't miss. We got a poolside cabana and spent most of our days here. The kids didn't want to leave!

The campground is on a literal mountain top, so it is surrounded by cliffs- great for a view but not suitable for adventurous children or animals. Driving in off the highway was complicated and you will hit many serpentine curves on steep hills. Of course that's nothing the campground can be faulted for, I'm just warning you in advance. They provide directions on the website to avoid low-hanging bridges etc. it's at least 16min from the nearest restaurant or grocery store so plan accordingly. Otherwise the space was a clean plot of land, which the owner clearly puts in effort to keep nice. There is nothing store except an honor system for ice and fire wood. Bring cash. If you have a pull through site, expect no shade/trees. The only sites with shade are around the edge. I had no experience with their toilet/shower situation but I hear you have to pay for it, which, after camping for 30+ years, I have never heard of. Overall, it's a nice plot of land but it was a distance from any civilization and it was not made for children to enjoy.

Everyone we encountered form the owners/staff to the other campers was really friendly. The cabin was spacious, clean, And incredibly cozy. We had a really nice warm welcoming basket with some treats & a note. I absolutely loved the view out of this cabin. All the amenities! The dog park was fantastic to let our girl run around. We all had fun in the game room, especially with the air hockey table and the ring game on the wall. The kids loved the pool, the Gaga Ball pit, & the hot tub. My son & I played the giant chess game. It was great to buy firewood right on site, the store is stocked up on everything you might forget, and the ice cream hit the spot! We did a lot of cooking over the campfire, but breakfast was great with the oven/stovetop and provided pots/pans/etc. We hope to be back soon & often! The cabin was beautiful, cozy, warm, and incredibly clean. The kitchen area was well stocked with an assortment of cookware and utensils, and there was a great grill & fire ring outside. We made great use of the fire ring to make s'mores even though it was quite cold! The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly, and be on the lookout for one of the camp cats, Oliver, if you'd like to make a new furry friend!

Small oven, stove, fridge. Heater, gas fireplace, air conditioner and fire pit. We cooked at home and hiked or biked during the day. Jon the manager was super nice and replaced a chair we broke same day. He also apologized for not returning my call for 15 minutes and gave us some free firewood to make up for the minor inconvenience. I liked having a shower and bathroom in our cabin, but we did use the key to get into the shower house, which was clean and stocked. Nice place!
