    Lake Piru

I recently visited Lake Piru and had a fantastic time. The lake is absolutely stunning, surrounded by beautiful hills, and it's an ideal spot for swimming and hiking with breathtaking views. While the restrooms were not in perfect condition, they were functional and the staff seemed to be working hard to keep things tidy. This minor detail didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the visit. Campsite was very well fitted and was on the drier side. Not much shade from the sun so bring some cover. Staff comes around selling wood and ice which can come in handy if you run out, but plenty areas to go find wood The picnic areas and the rest of the park were well-kept, making for a pleasant and relaxing day. I'm looking forward to returning and experiencing more of what Lake Piru has to offer!

It's cute and remote. A lot of people camp here. We came for the day. There's a swimmable area, good picnicking is possible too. Fishing off the shore as well. Boat ramp is small but manageable. The lake is stunning, and they don't currently require inspection because they are infested with the quagga mussel so that's a plus if you have been to other lakes you know what a nightmare the inspection process can be. Potential unfun detail--if it gets windy it's not fun but you can go in a cove and wait it out...but that's any lake really right?

Had my first experience fishing this past Saturday and it was fun. Didn't catch anything, but practicing my casting was peaceful. We fished near the docks and there's a lot of ground around the lake to fish from. It looked clean so it's good to see visitors being responsible and picking up after themselves. The lake has three porta potty restrooms. Plenty of parking. We did see a deer on the hillside keep to itself. RECOMMENDATIONS: Bring your own food, drinks, seats, shade, and sun screen. Mosquitoes come out at sundown so a can of bug spray too if you plan to be there during the evening.

Fourth of July weekend , amazing! Only problem is they need to put lightbulbs in the bathroom it gets so dark in there !

Not a bad camp site, I must say it was much cleaner than I anticipated, the lake was a very short drive from the camp site.

Windy here every day by 1pm

Clean park, clean restrooms, and a cute little playground for kids. Recently had a family picnic here and no complaints!

Does anyone know if the lake is open today?

    Yes

How many tents are allowed on a campsite? Is it true no alcohol?

3 tents alot we had two lots and u can drink alcohol just don't leave your food out at night because the bears will get into it

Do the electric campsite have standard GFI outlets (wall outlets) as well? or do they just have the camper hookups?

    Yes they have both.

Can you bring a popop to the swim area?

Yes you can set up EZups on the swim beach. Make sure you bring some stakes or something to tie it down though. It will fly away

Does Verizon have cell service at the lake and campground? Is there WIFI available? Thanks!

Only AT&T has a cell tower up there. As far as I know there is no WiFi available for public use though from what I understand they are working on it.

I asked about the controls on the dash and he replied I don't know what they do. He told me that he got the boat from a friend that didn't want to repair it because it needed a new starter. He mentioned that because its necessary to remove the whole engine to reach the starter, that they sold it to him and he had replaced the starter and placed it for sale one his lot. Come to find out two years laster, this is not true. It's actually very simple to replace the stater. I know as I had to remove it myself due to it failing. Either this was a very cheap starter he that completely remove the engine to install, or installed a used starter that has now failed. Not to mention the retread tires on the trailer. Very cheap purchase boats poorly reconditioned and sold overpriced. However he was very friendly and helped register the boat for me when they would not accept it at AAA.

I'm not sure how he found this place, but once he did, it seemed that was all he talked about. He met Matt and spoke so nicely of him. My husband had gone a few times to look at boats and compare and get quotes, and met with Matt every time. He said Matt was patient, not pushy at all, and really answered whatever questions my husband had every single time he went in there. My husband would bring all this info back to me. I went for the first time on 5/18 to actually look at the boats my husband had his eyes on. Matt wasn't there, but today we went again, and I met Matt, and he was all my husband said. He is an example of how a salesperson should be. The process of getting approved for financing was pretty simple. Who knew! And when we picked up our boat, George, who walked us through the ins and outs on the boat, was friendly, funny, and sooo knowledgeable! Definitely recommend this place even if you're just looking at boats!

Well, my circumstances dictated a larger first boat. Insurance was difficult to obtain, and when I did, they asked for 30 hours of sailing and a sign off from a licensed captain. Captain Joe of Far West marine agreed to be my mentor, and I could not be happier; an expert sailor, an intuitive teacher, and an interesting person to spend time with. I quickly realized I'd need professional training or else the boat would never be enjoyed and might as well be sold. Luckily, I was able to find Captain Joe online. Joe is everything you would want in a marine mentor or coach. He's extremely knowledgeable but also patient and knows what to say and when to say it so you learn while also feeling safe . After a few hours under his tutelage we went from not even being sure how to really start the boat to being able to pull it in and out of the slip ourselves, get it to the ocean , get it on plane, drop anchor. He also went around and did a basic safety check of everything on the boat and gave some recommendations for a simple maintenance plan .
