I guess this also being near a creek made the situation worse which I did not consider. I just wish there was signage. I had to flag the camp host down to even give us a yellow jacket trap for our site. As soon as we arrived they swarmed our car and our cooler and we had to store everything inside the car for our entire stay. It wasn't until the late evening that they went away but as soon as we woke up around 8am they were back and attacking us. Please don't make the same mistake as we did.

He was incredibly kind, responsive, collaborative, and accommodating throughout our stay. Such a special place and a wonderful experience. We would absolutely come back. 10/10!

Additional cars will require additional fee. Environment: We made a reservation for this campground ahead of time using their website. Once we got here, we drove to our numbered campsite and set up camp. The nice thing about this campground is that there is a small playground for the kiddo to play at. They also have a combination of portable toilets as well as flushing toilets (depends how far away your campsite is). They also allow RVs in a certain part of the campground. It's also open to day use for a fee. The campground ranger came by as we were setting up and welcomed us as well as gave us some campground info. What was ordered: - Campsite for one night (includes a parking spot, picnic table, and a bbq / campfire ring. Water tap is available in the campsite) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The campground was nice and there are nice views of the Ojai Valley if you head up towards one of the day use spots. Credit cards are accepted.

Lake Peru is beautiful there only a few problems I was charged 260.00 for boat rental does but on…read moreline it show 125.00 on the off times I thought 100.00 of that a deposit very confusing but the lady at the entrance was very friendly and once I was ready to go were the boat ramp was with my two friends they had steps but it led into the water not to the walkway for the boats had walk back up to a very steep part of the asphalt on my hands and knees to get where the boats are for rental I am handicap right leg amputated so my two friends help me down to the walkway I should have taken a picture how steep it was for safety for elderly and the handicap the boat person was very helpful and nice it's not fault for the way the dock was aligned once we were on the boat everything was great until we came back had to get on my hands and knees to crawl back up the ramp to flat ground lucky I had two strong friends for help up the ramp hope they fix this problem it would have been 100 percent a great day of fishing

Middle Lion's a small area and the sites are first come first serve.. so we were happy we got a good one. We had a delicious bbq, big campfire, and met some other fellow campers who were very cool. Nice neighbors all around! The bathroom was really gross but that's camping, right? At least there was a bathroom. The ranger at the park was really sweet and helpful. This place wasn't as amazing as camping somewhere like Avenue of the Giants.. but it was a lot of fun with friends. Dog friendly campground but keep them on a leash. A bobcat had been spotted walking around earlier that day- the ranger warned everyone about him and said to keep pets close. It was fun walking along the creek, which was completely dried up in August. We got our $5 Adventure Pass at a nearby visitor's center. The ranger *did* check when we were there.. so you should probably have one.

While well kept, spaced nicely, and in a quaint area, and had bathrooms/fire pits/ tables; it is just too small to realistically expect to get a spot on a weekend in the spring, summer, or even early fall. With only a hand full of campgrounds in the area, its no wonder they all fill up fast. No reservations makes it even more of a bummer when you're faced with the possibility of either going home, or roughing it out on a trail. The latter is what we ended up doing since both Middle Lion and Rose Campgrounds were absolutely packed. While its a nice site, beware of it being full on a weekend!

At the top there's a big cross that makes it feel really peaceful and kind of special. There are also a few different trails you can walk, some easy, some a bit more of a hike, plus little fun details along the way like bird statues. It's a great place whether you want to hike, chill, or just enjoy the view. Super relaxing overall and definitely worth checking out if you're in Santa Barbara

Dear Hubby and I took a drive out to Ventura for my birthday, which happened to be mid-week this…read moreyear. Big hooray - it was sunny; no fog in sight. It was on the coolish side, but the abundance of sunshine made it seem warmer. We had an early dinner down on Main Street. Where we parked there was a sign indicating that the eastern entrance to Grant Park was nearby. We had been up there perhaps only once in the past, and we'd gone in from the west. The drive up in the late afternoon / early evening had the golden glow magic to it. The light was amazing! I was driving and marveling at every twist and turn on the roadway while ascending the hills. The wildflowers and green groundcover from winter's rains made the scenery even more breathtaking than it might be when the grasses start to turn golden instead of green. I was able to drive all the way to the top parking lot, which overlooks the Serra Cross, and the entire Ventura coastline. The view encompasses the pier, the harbor, then beyond out to Channel Islands Harbor, Port Hueneme, and the western edge of the Santa Monica Mountains. It solidified my feelings in that moment of gratitude for enjoying life in Ventura County for the past 40 years. A gorgeous view on a clear day can do that for a person. When a sunny day happens, and the winds are calm, I can recommend taking a drive up to the top of Grant Park to make some of your daily cares seem very small. Looking down on the city / county from on high helped lift my spirits and added joy to my birthday celebrations.
