We brought my mother-in-law here to celebrate her birthday and we hoped she'd like the laid back pace of a quaint lake town and she loved it. We had rooms in the lake cottage and our room (5L) has to be the best room on the property because you have a corner view with a wraparound porch and the vistas day and night are stunning. She had 7L and she loved it as well. Our room was cleaned thoroughly every day and everything worked perfectly. The shower was awesome. A lot of times in an older property things are a bit creaky but our room was perfect (once we figured out how to turn off the temperature light on the AC at night). The only tweak I'd make to our room would be to add a ceiling fan, but that's just a personal preference. We had massages at the spa and that was nice. I had a great masseur and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the spa afterwards. There is an indoor pool area with a jacuzzi and an outdoor hot tub. Apparently there used to be an outdoor pool but that was removed a couple of years back. That would have been nice. We ate at the View, the Cottage and the bar and I've reviewed the restaurants separately. The bar was a great place for some shared snacks and desserts along with excellent cocktails and wonderful service. I loved just sitting on a rocking chair in a small screened in porch off the main lobby reading a book. It was so peaceful. The study area has tables and a fireplace and that was a wonderful setting to write cards to friends. As you can tell, we loved it here. There are some caveats: It's not cheap (though it's worth it, in my opinion) and parts of the main building are a bit worn and/or dated. However, the service is great from everyone, the place is spotless and comfortable and the vibe is exceptional. I've never wanted to stay any place longer as much as I wanted to stay at Mirror Lake Inn. I really want to come back in winter to see what it's like. This was simply a lovely experience from beginning to end.

Front desk staff are top tier. Eddy and Webby were my personal favorites during my stay. There are staff constantly moping the floors throughout the hotel and elevators to dry the tracked in snow. I found breakfast to be okay; much better than other Hampton Inns. However, if the person responsible isn't maintaining the breakfast area, the waffle station gets really gross with batter everywhere. Some mornings items would be out and not stocked and was disappointing. Parking gets pretty crazy with all the snow banks. Cars take up more than one space and the handicap row gets really full. You do have to put a permit in your car during your stay. There is a FREE shuttle to and from Whiteface Mountain. I highly recommend this hotel and will return.

The decor is perfect for a hotel in the Adirondack region; the location is fantastic right across from Mirror Lake and within a block from everything the downtown has to offer. We could walk to the Olympic Center in 5 minutes. Many rooms have balconies. Our balcony overlooked the lake and had views of the mountains, also. In the Great Room, a variety of newspapers, games, coloring books and even a kid's ukelele were available for use. Right across the street, there are tennis and pickleball courts and a playground. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices, and the views from the dining area couldn't have been better. There's even a cozy fireplace in the Great Room, a firepit and chairs on the patio overlooking the lake as well as Adirondack chairs facing the lake. A great place to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. All this, plus an indoor pool, fitness center and a super friendly staff. I highly recommend Hampton Inn Lake Placid.

It was clean, pretty, and we had everything we needed and loved being right on Main Street. We were able to walk wherever we wanted and after we wanted to stay longer. Yulia the manager moved us to the room across the hall since ours was taken and we wanted to stay longer and ended up in number 10 for the past 2 nights. What bliss! The staff was amazing! They were available easily by text or phone and accommodated us with any need we had! Towels... change of sheets, cleaning. We went back again the following year, last year 2023 and stayed in another suite since the ones we wanted were not available but without fail, we loved everything about our stay! Complimentary s'more's supplies are provided for guests every evening. The game room was also really cool and a nice place to relax with friends and family. When they come to clean/make the bed they also do the dishes which was very nice. There are lots of amenities including heated pool, bowling alley, pickleball and tennis courts, movie theater, gym, complimentary smores and cookies. We did try one of the two restaurants available on site, Peak 47, which was quite disappointing would advise to venture out into the town for food. However otherwise a great experience/stay, would recommend!

Founded by an Olympian Ski Jumper Arthur Devlin years ago - all of his medals and trophys are in the small lobby/sitting area in an interesting display. Free filtered water machine to refill your water bottle. Sits right at the start of Main Street so town, the Olympic Center and Mirror Lake are nearby. We did drive to get to far end of Main (lazy night) but you can walk if you don't mind a bit of uphill to start and a bit of a walk. Room had a leather recliner in it which made us laugh, bc you never see that in a hotel, but honestly my husband was thrilled. No idea if those are in every room. We had 2 queens suite with mountain view. Ground floor. Would have liked to see what view was from upper level room, but even with ground floor our deck faced the mountain and wasn't obscured. Room to improve - No vending machines or even water to buy. While they do offer a free filtered fountain for bottle refills, sometimes you just want a new bottle. Minor issue. Went to gas station across the street.

While we really liked this resort I would not necessarily recommend it those with physical challenges. There are actually 3 separate buildings that compromise the resort. The building we were in had a lot of stairs and no elevator. The "main" building interior is beautiful and there are man made waterfalls out front. The main building does have an elevator but the amenities, like pools, are pretty spaced out and require considerable walking. The room we stayed in beautiful with a wonderful view of the lake and mountains beyond. Of very special note: the Guest Services Manager- Ms Lia Collins- is a truly special person. She went beyond normal policy to help us out when unexpected circumstances caused us to cut our stay short. She treated us with caring and compassion- not just as customers. I highly recommend this hotel - aside from my accessibility comments. In my opinion- if accessibility is an issue for you- that you stay in the main building. Just be aware that there will be some walking. Overall a very nice place to stay!!

Stayed at lake house and king suite on the water front each for a couple of days…read more King suite by far better. Big, on the lake, comfier bed and pillows. There is a whirlpool bathtub we didn't use but the bathroom is huge. Downside in both rooms were spiders on the balcony (staying early September). Huge ones too. You brush them away and they come back in an hour. The lake house feels like camp. The room has a nice wood vaulted ceiling but that's the only nice feature. The carpet, bed and bathroom were pretty clean except that we found shavings in the sink and the faucet cap was missing and it was all rusted and corroded. The bathtub also had a draining problem. And the bathroom was super tiny, and the tissue box almost fell in the toilet multiple times. The toilet is not a home toilet but one you find in airport bathrooms. Blech. The best feature is the community room bar area which is really cute and spacious. The foosball table was fun but it is from the 80s or something. Small pool table, didn't get a chance to play. The atmosphere is a 60s chalet and it's great for playing board games, they have a few but we brought our own. As a guest at the resort you get access to all three building so doesn't matter where you stay, you can use all the services. Downstairs there is a pool and hot tub, just cement with a hole in it. My husband used the hot tub and was lucky no one else was in it. It's very big and has lots of jets. The whole room is very basic and can use a deep clean and some potted plants around or something to make it pretty. I have no idea what the rec room outside the pool could be, dirty carpeted area that I can picture a two year old running around circles in- that's about it. Wasted space. There is another pool and hot tub in the main building and it is a trek away from the other buildings as it's nestled in the back. It's super hot and steamy in the whole room and it looks newer than the other pool but still very basic. For a romantic getaway I highly suggest booking any waterfront room or suite, the view and rooms are much better cared for and more updated looking. Also having access right to the lake instead of walking across the street is a huge benefit. Only downside is the parking lot at waterfront is super tiny and you have to do multiple k turns and it took me 15 minutes to park into a spot. And the entry with the gates is awkward while your car sticks out in the middle of the street. But still the rooms and views are worth it. Only hotel I've seen that has paddle boats too. Lots of equipment available to borrow which is great. The place is a 4 star hotel but to me it's more of a 3. It is the cheaper of the 4 star hotels on mirror lake and I think it's because the amenities and rooms are old (still functional though). A lot of crevices in the rooms weren't cleaned, like spiderwebs in corners of the balconies and under the radiator. The service is very attentive though. They were super accommodating and everything I texted them about was dealt with in a timely manner. I really like their text service, so you don't have to keep calling the front desk for every little thing. Free coffee in the lobby of the main building and lake house every morning. Plenty of spring water fillers around the property. We didn't use the fire pits but last lighting is at 9pm and you have to buy your s'mores and equipment. I don't know if we would stay here again but if we did we would book a suite.

Place is right on the main drag in town, and is nice inside. Staff at front desk were not as friendly as most hotels, and didn't recognize status, but otherwise were perfectly fine. Rooms were good with lots of nice decor and touches. Felt more like a nice cabin than a room, even if they were a bit narrow. Walls and ceilings were thin and you could hear very easily what was going on in rooms around you. Elevators also on the cramped side. They up charge for lake view rooms, so if you book via Bonvoy, expect to get a view of the parking lot. Valet parking situation was unexpected as this wasn't prominently called out on their site. We sucked it up and paid, but it was another charge even if it understood it once I saw their lot. Still the walkability of the hotel makes it worthwhile. Just would probably try another place near the main drag before coming here again.

Checking in was great, friendly, professional, and she explained the property and recognized my status and perks. First impressions of the property are the attention to detail throughout, including the room. It definitely looks like it belongs in the Adirondacks. I got to my room and immediately noticed the view through the bedroom window of Mirror Lake, which was nice. The attention to detail I notice about the building itself extended into the room when I noticed the solid brass door hinges on the bedroom doors and the patinaed plumbing fixtures and handles on the sink, shower, and yes the toilet too! Housekeeping does a nice job keeping everything clean and nice looking for guests and they did a great job refreshing my room each of my three nights/days there. The TVs in my room were great... remotes worked perfectly and they features Pluto TV (A "must have" for me these days!) as well as a very large local TV selection. Plenty of outlets in the room too. Bedding was beautiful and clean. The issues I had with the room were that the bed was EXTREMELY NOISY! Each time I moved, turned over while sleeping, etc it made these very loud "springy" sounds like there was an orgy going on in that bed at that time - Very Unacceptable! The mattress wasn't very comfy. The biggest issue was that the HVAC didn't do anything. I set the temp for 65 degrees with "cool" being on and it rarely turned on and when it did, it was loud so you had to turn up the TV. Also, the room really never went below 70 degrees, even though the thermostat on the wall that controls the HVAC says it's 65 - It's WRONG! This was such a HUGE issue for me, because of the 3 nights I stayed there, I hardly slept. I woke up at 3AM the first 2 nights and the last night, I woke up at 12:30AM - Ridiculous! If it weren't the lack of sleep, I'd give this property a much higher review, but since I'm paying for a comfortable place to lay my head, I have to dock 1.5 stars from the 5 star property this has the potential to be - giving it 3 stars and since it affected my sleep, I'm going on the low end to 3. Sorry, but it is what it is.
