The lady at the bar was friendly. The owner was okay...for there only being two customer vehicles here and just the other two customers besides us it was kind of a cold welcome. Worth a stop though for some snacks and good mead! My wife and I spent the day hiking at the nearby Otter River, so this was a welcome stop. I bought a 16oz etched glass bottle of Mazer mead, and another of the "Master" flavor. As somebody who has made hundreds of gallons of my own mead, the flavors were really unique. Varying alcohol content too if you're looking for something heavier (or lighter). I wouldn't suggest buying more than one "growler", as they were just etched glass bottles. Having grown up raising honey bees, it's really cool to see a place like this where the mission is to endorse honey and happy times with the mead bees help make. If you want a Quentin Tarantino feel and you're in the area, check it out! I'd like to give 4/5 stars but for a small business like this I'll send a little love

The Lodge was so comfortable and hosts, David and Ginger McDonald, were so friendly and accommodating. It was the perfect respite from a tiresome and anxiety filled week of packing for a move. I slept like a baby in a bed so comfy I wanted to take it home. Although it was rainy and the fog kept us from exploring outdoors the warm ambiance inside the lodge and time spent with family made this a sweet and memorable experience. The lodge has been there for quite a while but David and Ginger, the new owners, are determined to make it a haven for guests and a destination for the area. They went out of their way to welcome us...even offering to drive down the mountain thru heavy fog to pick up our dinner we ordered! Totally unexpected and certainly above and beyond the duty of a host! Loved it! Can't wait to find an excuse to visit again.

That trip back down memory lane of the struggles endured by the growing pains of our people, our country, our self-worth made us appreciate from whence we have come. The House of Lydia gave us the privacy we needed. I am glad that the Good Lord knows what to provide to keep the fire in our marriage roaring. She makes it a point to use organic ingredients, and there's plenty to eat. (I had so much to eat during the first breakfast that I skipped my lunch and almost could have skipped dinner.)
