Party of 3 for 1 night on a road trip. Arrived around 8:30 pm. Greeted nice and friendly. Reserved room #7 which is at the end. Loved that. Room was super quiet. Beds are ok but better than a lot of budget hotels. Of course the room is dated and can use upgrades but it does the job. Air conditioning works great. Room is clean. Property is cute and would be nice for a longer stay as well. Not much to each right on this area so make sure you have snacks and drinks is my only suggestion. The hotel does deceptive advertising and probably also gets someone to write positive reviews for it. The pictures display in the ad shows a nice room that feels like 3-star but when you go there you will see that the place is barely even 1 star. The decor is old and dingy and furniture is scratched like bought from a flea market. I booked a 2 day stay but left on the night I checked in itself. When I complained to the manager they told me that room #2 is old and dinghy but the pictures are from room#1 but if you look at several of the reviews even that one is bad. This is a cute, old school motor lodge, the kind of place that so many road tripping Americans stayed at through the mid-20th Century. The manager hands you a real key, and you drive right up to your room. My wife, dog and I stayed here on our way up to southern Oregon, and found the place cute, cozy, clean and comfortable. Is it sleek and generic and totally forgettable like the average Days Inn? No, and that's the reason to stay here! It"s fun, and a little rustic, and that's the fun of it! We just needed a place a stay for one night. Lake Shasta Lodge was the only place with vacancy. Checking in was a breeze. Very friendly front desk person. The room was spacious. I don't know about the bedding was last changed but luckily we have our own blankets. Bathroom was clean with one roll of toilet paper. Ac unit was noisy so we didn't leave it on. Having a microwave and fridge was a plus. Nice little lanai outside to chill on. Overall it was a pleasant stay. read more

Cute little place close to lake Shasta and McCloud falls. They are also dog friendly which is so helpful, they even have a grass area with a picnic table and BBQ grill. There's not much food places around so bring food to grill. We will definitely return. read more

This place saved our lives! I am a truck driver traveling from Southern California. After our truck broke down we decided to stay here for a few nights. Let me tell you about Shah, the general manager. He went above and beyond for us. Let me remind you that we are complete strangers. Super-cute lodge from a bygone era. It's always nice to take a peaceful step back in time. The room was clean, quiet, and had all the amenities - reserved parking space, TV, wifi, kitchenette. I loved the small porch area out front. I was able to enjoy the fresh morning air while I worked. Of note, they reached out to us by phone to make sure we were OK and accommodated our very late check-in with no problem at all. I cannot believe what a great value this was. Mold in the shower, something gross on the bathroom cabinet, all of the blinds are gross, the wall behind the sink and stove has not been cleaned in a while, smells like pets, tv didn't work, WiFi didn't work, smells so bad like toxic cleaners, and had people banging around coming and going till 2am I slept on my own blankets as it was to late to complain and go someplace else... don't waste your time. read more

Totally loved this place. I love old motels and this one is convenient of I-5 for a stopover driving from Seattle to the Bay area. It is vintage in feel but lovingly refurbished with new floors and paint. The owner keeps it super-clean, which i appreciate as i am allergic to mold and dust, he steam cleans the floors between customers! The room has all the mod-cons as well as windows that open and that look out onto a woodland setting where you can walk your dog! There is a picnic area with chairs and bbq and a common room with a pool table. We will return here every time we do this drive and are considering a writing/birding retreat here in the spring. The roads around the tiny town are perfect for walks and the lake and river nearby are dog friendly and not crowded. The price is half what the moldy and boring big chains charge! Fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts, if you are looking for a place to stay near Lake Shasta, I would recommend the Lakehead Lodge. This is not a trip to Aria or the St Francis. Its a small, 1950's style motel just off I-5 just above Shasta Lake - if you are looking for deluxe resort style living, Kale Smoothies and organic fennel, this is not the place for you. Great location for fly fishermen on the Upper Sacramento. Affordable. My room was clean. The sheets and towels were new. The internet worked well. I pulled off the river and grabbed dinner, then decided to try the Lodge- I got there at 10 PM The owner Jim lives onsite and was happy to have another guest and showed me to my room. Other 2 reviews on here don't seem to be accurate. read more

I would give this place a negative 10 stars if I could. This place is a absolute joke. Stayed one night paid $95 to be charged another $22 for a towel that I used to clean up soda because there was no paper towels in the room. And then also said the 22$ was for the 2 dishes I didn't wash. When you call to ask about it they want to scream at you and tell you they had to throw the 3 towels away ( I like to know about this 3rd towel when there was only 2 towels in the room) and one towel was still hanging up. The manager was rude and need to learn customer service. They straight said we rather of u not cleaned it up and ruined the floor (what so they could charge u for that). I was searching for possible lodging this coming summer. This lodge looked to be great and very accommodating. I however declined to make a reservation due to the EXTREMELY POOR customer service from the person I spoke to over the phone, which was the owner himself. It seemed as if it was a burden to ask for information about the lodge and his disdain for any contact with any human being was very evident. He did not show any sense of "helping a future customer", nor did he reflect any, and I mean ANY, type of professionalism with his service. This being said, it made it clear that if the service is this horrible over a simple 45 second phone call, then the actual in person service must be an utter horror to deal with. My research of the surrounding area actually uncovered many other wonderful and better places to stay. In short, the ownership is lack luster at best, and does not give any motivation to possible customers to stay their due to the very bad customer service. read more

This is the cleanest and nicest rest area I have ever been to. I wish more parks were this nice!! Most times I won't even go to the restroom. It looks like the building is new. They have a few vending units. A nice perk that I saw is that it had 2 bug pet areas (very well marked) it was also very family friendly. read more

Probably the worst place I've ever stayed. Rooms smell like a three-pack a day smoker lived there. No hand soap, shampoo or conditioner. Froze all night because the heater didn't work. My husband our dog and I were recently displaced from the Delta fire. It was such a relief to find a clean , pet friendly, affordable place to lay our heads for a few nights. The outdoor area was so nice. Green grass ,shade trees, horse shoe pits...we found it very relaxing I personally liked the landscape of driftwood and flowers. Will definitely come back!!! read more

After an airbnb reservation was canceled on us due to the storm we decided on this place because of the location and reviews... we called early around 8am throughout the hour continuing to get a busy Line.... we decided to show up anyway and see if they were vacant ... we arrived around 2pm ... the sign was lit up and it read open... we rang the bell & called multiple times without an answer ..... we drove around a little thinking maybe they were busy in a room, tried again 30 min later, still no reply .... so we ended up down the road at Lake shasta motel ... maybe next time we will get to see what it's all about?! Lakehead Lodge has very clean rooms. We just rode in from Calaveras County on our motorcycles and had the most peaceful nights rest ever. It was within walking distance to a great bar n grill and we felt very welcome by everyone. It was nice to feel safe and come back to a comfortable, peacefull room. If you are looking for high end hotel type of stay this isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for something quiet, quaint and simple this is the place for you. We stayed here for 1 night, booked 2 rooms for our group. The place is extremely shabby and worn out. Doesn't feel clean. In one of the rooms the sheets on the bed weren't clean, it seemed that they have not been changed after the previous visitors. Nothing much is around, you have to drive to the lake, and it's not the best area of the lake anyway. Will not recommend this place for vacationing, unless you just need a cabin to sleep on your way to CA or OR. The website stated there is a free WI-FI - it's not working or doesn't exist. $85 is greatly overpriced given the condition of the place. read more

Stayed here twice in one week of travel up to the PNW. Great place conveniently right off I-5 yet in a wooded area. Drive and park next to your door. Simple clean and friendly service. Not a resort but not expensive and much better than staying in places in Redding. Highly recommended. read more

I got #5 and the manager said it was a new memory foam mattress in that room. It was 2 miles from the lake & ended up there for 3 days. He can also answer question you might have about the area, especially fishing. Its not the Ritz, but its clean and well kept. Just stayed for restful three nights. The place is appearently a small family business, which is awesome. It appears they have been doing upgrades, yet the rooms are still kinda throwback, which is fine. They have cute little porches with tables and chairs, a BBQ, horseshoes, and a game room with a pool table. They have Dish TV and wifi (which gave me problems). They have locked boat parking/storage which is nice, though I just left mine hooked up and on the street--seemed quite safe. There is a super cool local bar/grill 100 yards away, had good food and drinks there. The owners were super nice and accommdating, as we showed up at 1:00 AM to check in. And, there is a grocery store nearby, gas, and another diner too, which has really good food and coffee. But the best thing for us, having had back injuries, was the bed. It seemed brand new and was SUPER comfortable. And not having any back pain after three nights on a motel bed--priceless. Keep it local folks, and this is a great little gem. Oh, and the boat launch at Antlers is close by, not too crowded, clean, and in more of a less crowded area of the lake. We were in ànd out of the lake every time with zero wait. Very comfortable, convenient, clean and well equipped. Best of all, amazing service. I arrived with my car emergency hazard light flashing. The owner personally checked the car and determined the oil was critically low. But wait, there's more....he got the oil so I did not have to run the car, filled it up, and made sure the car was safe to go. Words can't express my gratitude.
