Park amenities include a parking lot, picnic pavilions, tables and grills, basketball court, open play space, paved exercise path, and the Bark Dog Park. In the back of the park is a hiking trail into the Royal Palm Beach Pines Natural Area. The 773 acres of the preserve contain a wet prairie and a pine forest. This natural area is part of the Great Florida Bird and Wildlife Trail and Northeast Everglades Natural Area. Palm Beach county purchased most of the land in 1992 and 1993 and the rest was deeded to them in a mitigation settlement. Unfortunately the trail entrance in the park was flooded due to recent rain but there is another entrance in the back of the Saratoga Pines subdivision.

What I didn't expect was the fascinating bit of local history tied to it. Knollwood Park sits on land that was once home to one of the last old-school Florida roadside attractions in Palm Beach County. For more than 75 years, Knollwood Groves welcomed visitors with a gift shop, fresh orange samples, fruit shipping, an alligator wrestling show, and even tractor wagon rides through the groves. After the attraction closed in 2005, the 120-acre property was redeveloped into a residential community, with Knollwood Park created at the entrance as part of the plan. Today, the park offers a peaceful escape. You can enjoy a picnic under the covered pavilion or take a relaxing stroll along the paved walkway that winds around the lake. During my visit, I spotted an Egyptian goose, ducks, and a great egret--making it a great spot for casual wildlife watching. Overall, this quiet, well-kept park is perfect for a leisurely walk, a picnic, or simply enjoying a bit of nature.

Loved this easy and quick trail. Located off of Crestwood,…read moreit has a small paved parking lot- maybe 12-15 parking spots. I went on a Friday around lunch time. I was the only on there with my pups. It's a very easy and relaxing walking route. I have very bad arthritis in my knees so I'm always concerned about that. But the trail was easy to navigate. There were benches spaced out nicely so I could take a seat when my knees started acting up. The path was made in a way that you would not easily see the next bench if you wanted some privacy to relax and take in the water and wildlife. There is a small portion of the trail that is unpaved- but it was flat and I had no problems with walking it. The unpaved section is maybe only 10% of the total trail. If that's not something you wanted to test or if you are with a walker or wheelchair, you could go in the opposite direction then turn back around. It's a completed loop. All of the trail that was along the water was paved. So you don't miss anything by not taking the small unpaved section. The path itself is a quick lap probably would have taken my 5-7 minutes if I was by myself and didn't stop to sit and relax. There is a small picnic table under a pavilion that you can also stop too. Overall. Very easy, quiet and relaxing walking route. I've added it to my new list of places to go when I need to get some fresh air.

It was dedicated in 2008…read more Wetland parks are some of my favorite kind of parks because they attract a variety of wildlife including wading birds, migrating birds, lizards, turtles, and alligators. From the parking lot where you can see a variety of ducks and other birds swimming in the water, you pick up a paved path that takes you opposite a Catholic church before winding around the water behind the backyards of houses. Along the way are benches. At the entrance to the woods, the path becomes natural earth and leads you back to the parking lot. Near the water I saw a lot of birds including a great egret, common moorhens, and an anhinga. In the woods I noticed branches heavy with purple American beauty berry which wild animals love to eat. I love loop paths and this one was very scenic. This a short and easy hike that anyone can do so come out and enjoy the natural side of Florida.

The highlight of Oaks Park is the clay walking trail that winds throughout the park. Tall trees provide welcome shade, and the small canal alongside the back portion of the path is lovely. The park also features a butterfly garden, a large picnic pavilion with tables, two tennis courts, and plenty of grassy open space perfect for picnics or play. Along the walking path are poignant tributes. Every few feet, there are memorial trees lining the trail. I took a moment to read some of the memorial plaques. They reminded me that even after we leave this earth, our love for those left behind lives on.

Oaks Park is a great fitness park in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Well-maintained tennis courts offer space to play for two games at a time. The courts are available at night with lights that go on for 60 minutes and then shut off automatically. The park is very pretty and has many containers for recycling and trash. There is no water source for people but there is a nice pavilion for shade. Pets are not allowed but parking at Oaks Park and then walking along the pretty street lined sidewalks is an option that I have done a few times.

As we arrived, a fisherman was pulling away so I didn't get a chance to ask him if he caught anything. Large old pine trees populate the grounds and provide peaceful shade for those who wish to sit on one of the comfortable benches. The current video posted even captures the tranquility of the song birds inhabiting the Park. Beautiful!

There are a couple picnic tables and a couple benches over looking the water. It's open sunrise to sunset. The neighbors walk their dogs here. And you can also fish from the shore. When we were there we saw several folks speeding down the waterway on their jet skis. And another person just relaxing on a bench watching the water. It would be nice to live in this neighborhood and enjoy this passive park.

It is located in the back of a neighborhood so unless you were specifically looking for it on a map, you might not even know it is here. There are a few parking spots in front of the park. The main reason to come to this park is the large covered playground with swings, slides, and climbing structures. There are also benches in this area. My favorite part of the park is the paved loop path where you can stroll or exercise. I love that the water fountain in this park has a bowl for pups. Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Note that there are no restrooms available here.

All the pictures in…read morethis review were taken on a single 2-3 hour hike one morning/afternoon but on the Owahee canal trail, not Apoxee. I live right behind this trail, walking distance from my apartment (a rarity in this part of WPB) so I care about it quite a bit. There are certainly plenty of improvements that could be made. If you're not walking the Owahee canal trails on the outskirts, and trying to walk the actual Apoxee trail, it's almost always too flooded by rainfall to make it very far. There has been word of more elevated boardwalks for the trail, but no progress has been visible for a while. Still a great place for a nature hike in WPB.

The park only has about 6 parking spaces. There is a small pavilion and playground. The main attraction of the park is the large green space perfect for kids to run around on or play football or soccer games. The perimeter fitness path that runs at the edge of the field is a half mile and can be used for running, walking, and biking. There are 12 health station intervals along the path if you would like additional exercises. Dogs are allowed if they are on leashes.
