Lots of spots to choose from to hang out

We had never been to this lake, so on our way home from Oregon we pulled off I-5 and took a little detour - what a great decision that was!!! We pulled off the road and parked in a free, well-maintained lot with several access points. You truly just pick a trail and head down to the water! We shopped around for the easiest climb and the fewest number of folks at the bottom, and had no trouble finding either. Plenty of shade, large lovely rocks to rest on, sandy beach spots, and clear, but not-too-cold water... just a win-win for everyone! The resort across the lake looked PACKED but they seem to have a lot of amenities... would definitely look at returning soon and renting a pontoon boat or kayaks for the day! Can't wait to go back!

Extremely peaceful with the most gorgeous views of Mount Shasta as its' backdrop! I loved every second of my visit to Lake Siskiyou. I took a lunch break here after hiking to a few of the nearby waterfalls in the area and I almost didn't want to leave. The lake itself is pretty huge with multiple access points, walking and hiking trails, nearby campgrounds, and direct lake access for all kinds of water activities. The main walking trail is a little over 7 miles and circles around the entire lake. There are tons of shady spots with rest benches and picnic tables where you can relax, enjoy a picnic, or just simply take in the scenic views around you. I love that you can see Mount Shasta in the distance. It's so striking, especially when covered in snow. I was surprised to see so much snow still on the mountain during the summertime. Since the lake is fairly large, it's pretty easy to spread out and find some secluded areas to relax in. It was fun to watch people swimming, kayaking, boating, and fishing on the lake. There are also campgrounds located right on the outside of the lake, but I can't tell you much about that as my visit here was just a day trip. If you're taking a trip out to Mount Shasta, Lake Siskiyou is a great place to explore while you're there.

It's a beautiful place , I love to swim and just have those pine trees and the beautiful Mount Shasta on the background! It's my favorite place to be .

It's quite a big lake and has many spots to either sit on the lakeside or drive your kayak or boats in the lake. The water did feel cold at start but then it was quite soothing to either dip your legs or just swim. You can surely plan a small picnic and spend the time with the family or friends. Overnight Camping is not allowed but you can surely do bbq and picnic :)

love it. We don't bring much to LS when we visit, just our bodies, minds and souls. We've been lucky to visit a few times and lucky enough not to run into any "party goers". its been chill vibes and beautiful times

Such a cute lake with the most amazing view of Shasta. There are trails around, you can bring a kayak or a paddle board or simply go for a swim, this place is really cute!

A beautiful place to visit if you're up in the Mount Shasta Area. It's close to town so not far to pack up the family to go for a swim in the summer. I don't have a family yet, but when I do I'll definitely be bringing them up here to enjoy nature and the scenery! The lake is warm enough to swim in (really!) and there are lots of places around the lake to park (in car parks) and walk down to the lakeside. It's picturesque, the water is calm, and very clear. Make sure to bring EVERYTHING with you. All of your inflatables, picnic, things to sit on, shade, enough water and water shoes, as it can be a bit rocky as you're getting in.

Mind blowing Sunrise and sunsets!! A photographers heaven and kids paradise!! Do check on their camp grounds.. in summer there are loads of activities for children including a safe zone swimming area!! The water is very SHALLOW ON THE LAKE SHORES... so it's unbelievable fun to take a dip here in summer..! They also have water slides and what not for kids and adults..!! There are restrooms and tons of free parking nearby! Bring your own swim suit, water ball, snacks, plastic bags for your wet clothes, changing clothes and towels to dry off as the store is super crowded & expensive!!!

To be…read moreclear, the campground is a short distance prior to the actual lake which has its own parking lot and trailheads. Once parked at the lake, you can embark on the moderate trail to Heart Lake. Approaching the lake, the trail is to the left of it and climbs along the lake shore with intermittent views. As you take a gradual but steady climb up, you will start to see views open up and eventually see Mt Shasta itself. Most hikers stop at Heart Lake which is a scenic spot with granite on one side and on the outlet side of the lake for Shasta views. If you're wanting a little bit of a longer hike, when facing the lake, make a right and log hop across its outlet and follow a faint but obvious trail to a rocky outcropping. There you will reach an amazing vista of Castle Lake and Mt Shasta. It's a great spot to have your lunch and take some amazing photos. Take care on the way down as there are some steep drop offs and slippery rocks. Most of the trail is exposed, so I'd go earlier in the day in the warm months. Depending on how far you go, it's 3-4 miles out and back. Wonderful way to have amazing mountain scenery in a short hike. Free parking at the lake and pit toilets (not the best, not the worst I've seen.)

We stopped by after eating around the area (recommend the smokehouse or bbq, stay away from the Mexican food at all costs!!) So we went to cable beach and got off and walked around and went to the lake to skip rocks and hang out as we unfortunately forgot our bathing suits. The view was so incredible, and perfect I couldn't even believe the how breathtaking it was at sunset . We skipped many rocks and even made it into a competition which I won, then I went off and found a great stump to take pictures on and unfortunately I slipped and fell on the rocks. Caution! Many rocks here so take water shoes or something with a thick bottom! Although it was pretty funny I'm still hurting haha. We saw boats on the lake and some people off to the side having a picnic and taking a dip in the lovely, warm water. All in all this was an incredible place to stop by and visit! I highly, highly, highly, HIGHLYYY recommend coming here!

Wow....I was pretty stunned by the mixture of the still melting snow with what seemed like turquoise blue waters....and this was the status when I visited back in the middle of July! There's really not much to Lake Helen other than stopping, getting out of your car and taking scenic photographs of the area with this stunning lake as the focal point. During my visit to Lassen National Park, it was one of the first few attractions I came upon as I navigated the parkway from the main, southwest entrance all the way up towards the Manzanita Lake Camping Area. In estimation....I'd say it was located about 5 - 10 miles going along Lassen Parkway. It can't be missed from the road. I saw plenty of cars parked with visitors playing by the snow and capturing photos of this picturesque surrounding. I certainly took a few moments to appreciate the landscape. Although Lassen NP has a rugged and brownish exterior from the high elevations and chilly winter setting,....this Lake Helen was a wonderful reprieve from the mostly out of bloom and dull terrain I found the park to be. Although there's not much to Lake Helen other than observing the wonderful blue coloring of the waters mixed with the snowy ice melting....it was still quite a fascinating revelation to witness such an unheralded and strikingly colorful roadside attraction.
