I highly recommend NOT going to Lake Spanaway Golf Course. I don't know who owns this, but clearly business hasn't been a success due to its excellent customer service. I went here in hopes of buying my daughter her first club set. Literally all the employees were talking to each other; no greeting, ignored in the "pro shop" I would have had some very positive funny words for them if my daughter was not with me. Stereotypical old white men and younger over makeup covered girls. lol read more

Great course! The Pro Shop staff are nice and respectful! They have a nice driving range and putting green! The bar is ok, service is a hit or miss. Food is mid as well. read more

When will they make sand traps playable? Played yesterday and the traps had a nice racked top but under this thin layer it was like asphalt. I won't be back. Other courses have taken back traps since Covid. High cedars for one. Riverbend is getting better still iffy. read more

This review is not based upon playing golf but rather using the driving range. I will drive 32 miles from Des Moines to go to this driving range. As a rule I like to utilize different ranges, but I believe you can get a large bucket of balls here which is 120 balls, for $13. That is a steal, and for that alone I will drive there vs. another driving range in Renton which charges the same price for 80 balls. The stalls are nice and spacious and the atmosphere is beautiful with lots of trees to look at. The employees in the Pro Shop are always friendly and it's just a nice place to hang out. I thought that the greens here were in good shape, it was an easy course with a nice layout. Very little elevation change. It was a fairly inexpensive course to play, and everything here screamed why... fairway grass was aweful (even for a muni course), pace of play was aweful, Marshall's didn't do anything to keep the game moving (I have been told by others this is a constant problem here). I think that this course was actually a 1-2 star worthy course, but the "value" has to be accounted for somehow. I might give it another go if it ever looks like they put some attempt in taking some pride in the course, but until then, I will not be planning on returning. read more

Very nice public Golf course here in Spanaway, the greens are well maintained, and everything here seems like a good value for your money. IThere is also plenty of parking available, the place is easy to get in and out of, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for a pregame meal- or after game meal/drinks. read more

Be careful using your debit or credit card at this facility. My friend and I played here in October 2022. He never use his debit card before. It was brand new. A few days later he notice a charge at a restaurant in Tacoma. He never been to Tacoma. We suspect that one of the employee took the card number and made a purchase with it. My friend cancel the card and got a replacement. We will NEVER play golf here again! read more

Good grief. This place genuinely does not care about what happens in their parking lot. This is the second time someone broke into our car while parked in their lot. They know incidents like this happen because they were not surprised and even said a car was stolen from there a week ago. No security cameras, no apology, no assistance, nothing. Played today. Cold, sunny, windy. Course is in great shape . Staff is always great. Good food, always friendly. And price is right.

I have a good time coming here. The restrooms can use some work. The restrooms on the course REALLY need work. The playing is pretty forgiving and open. Even if you do shank a ball into the trees you will usually find it and recover. The staff always seems to be friendly and enjoyable. I like the fact you can schedule a tee time online. read more

Got a really great deal here via an online special. Course isn't really that difficult from the back tees, and I wouldn't be happy paying full price to play here. That said, I did get a good deal, and the course had a few tricky shots. I'm not sure I'd be back just due to volume of courses in and around the area. read more

Ok so I have not played the course in many years and have only recently moved back to the area at the beginning of summer. The reason and only reason I am giving them a 5star review is based off of the fact they have 250balls for only $9.50 after 6pm Mon-Fri. That is a awesome deal. The driving range itself and range balls is nothing special but thats a lot of balls for the price. As far as the course goes I have only seen it from the range at it looks like its kept up pretty well. They chipping green/putting green is small but is nice and kept up well. The ball rolls nice and doesnt jump all over the place. This is my favorite place to hit balls in all of Pierce County cause im getting more for my buck. Average golf course greens are fairly good They are on groupon a lot and have really good deals on their website. One of the most affordable golf courses. I made a tee time and let the woman know I will be using an expired groupon to pay for the greens fee. But when I went in to pay the guy at the counter told me I wasn't allowed to do so. (30$ never expired portion) I let him know I explained it to the woman who took my tee times but he said it wasn't allowed. Well would've been nice to be told that. That was the whole reason why I called ahead to make sure I was allowed to do it. I wasn't that mad but when he told me that we were put in a five some that is when i decided to take my business somewhere else. Most establishments would never allow a five some unless without prior arrangements but to pair a five some up and not letting the people know is bad business. I give three stars because the good deals they offer and the course isn't that bad especially for the price but service wise it is lacking. read more

My wife and I played this course for the first time today (weather was great - dry, sunny and in the 70s). It's a very walkable course, and the fairways were still in great condition after summer play - there was a bit of roll on the fairways. Greens were in good shape, and rolled well but a bit slower. Bunkers were in okay shape with enough sand, given we are entering fall. Most of the holes have tall trees lined up the sides but there's only a couple where the fairway is narrow, and thus, accuracy is important. There are different challenges to various holes, which keeps it interesting. Net, we enjoyed ourselves. Having played the Classic Golf Club and Lipoma Firs Golf Courses in the vicinity, this course would be my preferred choice. We had a Groupon for this play, and it was great value. The driving range is also a decent one, with shelters. Price of the different sized bucket of balls is slightly better than other munis. read more

Golf course is decent. Fairly flat. City course that reminds me a bit of Jefferson/West Seattle. They have good deals where for $32, it covers your green fees, cart, range balls and even a hot dog. Most of the holes play straightforward. If you're having trouble with slicing your driver, you'll be playing from the trees on many holes. As far as the staff, the older guy with the mop haircut has an attitude problem. I've been there 2-3 times and have had the "pleasure" of dealing with him. He's just not very friendly and takes his job of booking tee times too seriously. Relax buddy. He's the reason why I rated this 2 star instead of 3. read more

The people at the Lake Spanaway Golf course are so nice! My son was there for a tournament today and his cart broke. The pro shop worker helped find a screw and washer to make it work for the tournament. Another worker on her day off helped my find the hole my son was on when we were done repairing his cart. $54 dollars to play this course is ridiculous for what you get here. Every hole is the same. Grass is in horrible shape. Feels like your hitting off of concrete. Not a bad course for under $30. But $54 again is way too much. read more

Good size parking lot. Right off Pacific Ave. so very easy to find. Staff was kind and the upkeep of facilities was good.

Today will likely be the last time I play golf at Lake Spanaway. I used to play here once every ten days or so, but today was just ridiculous. For starters, our tee time was at 1:50, with a cart. We showed up with plenty of time, waited our turn, and didn't tee of until 2:10. That's fine, it happens, I've played lots of golf in my life, nothing like this though. In 1 hour and 20 minutes, we played hole 1, and teed off on hole 2. The marshal tried to help us out, but ever hole had two or three groups on it. So it was play a 7 and half or 8 hour round of golf, or leave. We went into the club house to speak with the young woman behind the counter and we were told "sorry, you'll have to leave, we can't do anything for you." I've managed golf courses, you can't overbook a golf course like that, you just can't, that's the first problem. Second problem is that we were offered nothing, not a rain check, not our money back, not even a percentage of our money back. The third problem is the course. It is in about as good shape as a barn yard. You would think with as much money as that place must be making by double booking all the tee times they could at least staff the place with a manger to talk too and water the grass, guess not though. Very disappointing to see what was one of the best muni courses around go so wrong. read more
