In short this practice terminated care with me because I wanted to explore what I perceived to be an overcharge for their services. (Btw I am very adept at finances & insurance claims / billing to begin with, so I figured we could have an "adult" conversation if I could talk to Dr Copple because I was told he does the insurance billing. For example: "I see I was charged X amt on X date & that amt happens to be the amt I was over charged - can you help me understand why there is a discrepancy?"). (I am adding Dr Copple with a question mark because I actually never got to speak with him about my concerns, as Renee was seemingly being used as the middle person). My concern was that I had been over charged (not just over billed) by approx $25 and because I rarely visit their office I wanted to try to talk about the billing via phone. I left a msg about this issue about 2 months ago but never heard from anyone. So a few days ago I called their office & spoke with Renee who immediately became escalated & rattled by my mention of a question about my charges from their clinic. I tried to let her know multiple times this would be a complicated thing to sort out via phone with her & requested to leave a message for Copple, (because I was told he does the insurance billing & this was an insurance billing issue). Eventually, after repeated calm requests of my own, she heard me & said she would take a message. Only a short time later Renee called me back, letting me know that Dr Copple would not be calling me but that she was told to send me the amount I believe I was overcharged & they would be immediately "terminating my care." I was dumbfounded to say the least. I expressed confusion & she said it was because they were having more and more insurance disputes. (This sounds more like an insurance/provider problem than a patient/provider problem in my opinion, but OK). I tried to explain to her that it could be something easy to figure out if Copple would talk to me, but she said "didn't want to argue." I hadn't felt as though it was an argument to begin with but could tell she was completely uncomfortable talking about money or asking Dr Copple again to call me about the billing, even though I would assume that is part of her job? Anyways, this was a completely unprofessional reaction to my request to sort out the billing and I would have gladly allowed the charge to stand, if someone was able to explain to me how it wasn't an overcharge.

In long 7 months ago, my lovely bride suffered a serious stroke and has lots of atrophy and inflammation in her affected arm and leg, because they don't move as much as they did before the incident. Month before last, we wanted to re-establish her with massage care, and left ESR a message. Waited a week. No response. Tried again. No response. Tried the online form to book an appointment. Still no response. Left one more VM while I started looking for somewhere else we could take her. A week later, they finally called back. 4th time's the charm, right? They sounded organized enough on the phone that I was ready to give them one last shot. They couldn't quite fully explain the difference between their specialists, but they got close enough that I just picked one. Still have to wait yet another week to get seen, and now we're well over a month into this process. They did a lot of intake work over the phone with me, and said it'd be nice (didn't sound required) if I could bring a paper copy of one form with me. Totally my fault--I couldn't find it. Certainly was my issue. But we couldn't be seen. At this point, even if the care in back is solid, there's such a long-standing pattern of obstacles, sloppiness, and indifference that it wouldn't have seemed wise to proceed, even if they let us. The front desk staff has been rude and not very helpful. I've had multiple issues with my FSA funds and not going through. They changed their booking to only a month out which makes it difficult to get scheduled appointments. I've taken in documentation multiple times and it has not been saved in their system and was just asked to bring it in again. Doctors and companies like this need to work directly together as people don't know all the things required to bring in or the coding that they need. This has been nothing but frustrating and a waste of my time to be doing all the paperwork they require. Especially when I had brought it in multiple times and the front desk people did not get it in their system. I'm looking for a new massage/chiropractic care facility.
