How can anyone really feel comfortable there always wondering when and where they con use a restroom and how can they enjoy what the festival has to offer while they're walking around looking for restroom and then having to wait in absurdly long lines once you find restroom. The food and craft vendors are good and overall the festival has plenty to offer for all ages. More corn themed items and food would be a good adition. Overall it's a good festival but parking and restroom accommadations need improvement.

It's located in a small ski village, and -- never one to turn down the chance to check out a new place -- I jumped at the chance. Street parking was relatively easy to find, and we soon were meandering through the downtown at the foothills of the ski resort. With hills all around us and brilliantly color-changing leaves, it was here to beat the beautiful setting. If you know local festivals, you know what to expect -- booths with all sorts of arts, crafts, snacks, and unique local finds lined the middle of the streets, which had been closed off for pedestrian-only traffic. We perused the different booths and stores before stopping a spell for lunch. Happen to be out this way in the fall? The church just inside town was graciously offering "donation" parking (as opposed to the $10 parking further into town), and since it was on the edge of town, made it super easy to leave when we were done. The town of Ellicottville is also very charming, and I would love to come back again to enjoy the area on a normal day!

Always park along the side streets or in the school parking lot. It's a walkable distance. If you have a mobility impairment, it might be hard to find a parking spot during peak times since a lot is going on in the village. Food tickets: 50¢ per food ticket and no item is over 12 tickets (so for $6 you can get a full portion of a burger or other entree). I brought $20 with me and was FULL. I had around 10 tickets left over which I passed along to a friend who was staying later. The burgers: I am SHOOK that people say they can't seem to find burgers at BurgerFest... there had to be around 15-17 different types and styles of burgers! From a burger taco to pierogi and grilled cheese - to ice cream sandwiches- lots of creativity along with the classic burgers. Entertainment: Terry Buckwald is always a crowd pleaser and kept our spirits high in the heat! Lots of fun with those we sat by! Oh- did I forget to mention that there is shade areas with tables and chairs??? They have a good amount of tents to cool off under and sit/eat food! I always get the family tickets from tops ahead of time, then collect the tickets from the tent. Always an easy process, shorter lines. Average good was going for 8 to 10 tickets, same as previous years so I did not see any increase there. And most had a 4 ticket sample item as well. Loved the variety..trying new restaurants. Entertainment is always spot on, that hasn't changed either. Just a good food festival..this year weather was perfect for it as well.

We also happily demolished small FREE bags of Checkers & Rally's fries, some ethic eats, and Buffalo classics (Nick Charlap's custard, Just Pizza). They had rides for all ages, games, food, snacks, and live music. It literally was something for everyone to do. Only issues I had was there were not enough sitting areas for people to sit and enjoy the food and like 90% of all the vendors only accepted cash which I normally don't carry around with me. Thank God I did that day. Also parking can be an issue if there is a huge crowd. Overall really nice festival to attend every year.

However it's actually the flagship fair & carnival of the Tonawandas, and it really really rocks. I came here many times, in fact I performed here once or twice thanks to a friend, and it was always a great time, in the summer, by the Erie Canal in the Tonawandas, with good food, excited people, interesting music (unless I was playing in which case it was crap), and lots and lots and lots of very good looking people. If you live in WNY or are visiting at the right time of year, and you've never been to Canalfest, you should come down. There are a thousand reasons to have a great time here and only one reason not to, which was me performing live music here, which no longer is a problem. At some point it'll be purchased by a conglomerate and watered down, at which point it'll become Clearchannelfest. You don't want that to happen, so get here and enjoy it before it does.

As there is a walk from the parking lot down to the security check and then from security check down to the venue. I did have a moment with security trying to give me a hard time about the clear bag I brought. The venue information said clear bags are allowed. Nothing more on the clear bag specifications. They tried to send me back to the car with my clear bag because it had drawstrings and they said they makes it a back pack. Well yes, I can wear it on my back but it's still a small clear bag. I really didn't appreciate the fuss over this and objected. They let me go in after some back and forth but really felt this was ridiculous.

During the Sierra Farrell show, this venue hired officers that threatened to pepper spray my family…read morewhen they closed the lawn during a lightening storm. When we arrived at the venue, due to the storm, we were told to go into the shell during the opening band. We watched the band inside the shell. Then we were told to go to the lawn at 8:40pm. We went to the lawn at that time, along w/ approx 400 other people. Ten min late, the venue closed actual walls between the shell and the lawn. The rain/lightening was still strong so we sheltered in place at side of the shell and under a roof. State Park police and Artpark Security told hundreds of people that had to leave (while the show was going on inside the shell). Everyone asked security and police to let them in the shell for safety and they said no. We advised to them that we have two children and one of our childrens' friends (whose parents were in the shell) and to let us contact his parents and work on a plan. Since it was raining hard and lightening very close and our car was a 10 min walk, we told them it was safer to stay where we were. Police started getting aggressive and threatening. As they started to push the crowd away, we heard one of them threaten us that if we didn't leave, he would spray the crowd. When we asked if he would pepper spray children, he answered that it was his job and he was happy to put food on his table.
