Extremely poor customer service; the receptionists and office personnel are very rude and act annoyed when scheduling appointments or purposely prevent you from getting into the office. When I called earlier this month to schedule an appointment they could get me in within 2 weeks or even the week of my phone call, plus multiple openings all the way through summer where mentioned as options to me. Then when called again (didn't make an appointment during the first phone call because of scheduling issues), before I could even tell them what I wanted to make my appointment for, I was told nothing would be available for 4 months.This all took place within 1 week! Somehow all availability for appointments were locked for 4 months within 1 week supposedly...not to mention it contradicts the information I was told during the first phone call. The receptionist named Vicky was whom I talked to during the second phone call and is probably the worst because if you have any question she acts sarcastic, makes threats and starts yelling at you as if it's a waste of her time to work with you. I tried talking to her about my first phone call and possible availability for later on, but she continued to treat me with disrespect and make immature comments all the while refusing to give me any information. I'm not only shocked but disappointed at the fact this facility employs people who display awful character to complete strangers with no reservations. I've been a long time patient here yet the process of scheduling gets worse and worse, even for the smallest of services such as a yearly cleaning. The customer service at Gas Stations or McDonalds are better than the receptionists and other office personnel working at this office. Would not recommend to a friend or family member. My wife needed an emergency root canal and told them that when she called to make the appointment. The Doctor examined her and said "yeap, you need a root canal, we'll have to schedule another appointment. When asked why she couldn't do it now, she responded "I'm only here for another hour". Then when she went to schedule another appointment, she was told to callback in a couple of days because they didn't have the Dr's schedule yet. They used to be located on Pyatt Rd. in L.I.T.H. but lost so many clientel that they had to move to another city. read more

I just had my first visit to this dental office and they were great! Kathy at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Music playing all of the time was very nice. Dr. Conomikes was so friendly and made me feel very comfortable as I am nervous at any doctors office. He did the most thorough exam I think I have ever had and answered every question I had. I created this Yelp account because I was so appalled at the treatment I received from this dental provider. I also did contact my insurance company to let them know that they shouldn't be referring patients there. They were very happy that I let them know about this as this is not the level of care that one would expect when trying to give a health provider business. I recently chose Lake Hills Dentistry as my provider for my DHMO as they are across the street from my doctors office and close to home. My policy starts on 12/1 and I called them on 11/29 thinking that I could make an appointment as I have a broken tooth that's extremely painful. I called and spoke to a receptionist name Tracy who was extremely unhelpful. I was told that she would not make an appointment for me until they received their roster, which usually comes in the second week of each month and tells them who has insurance. I called my insurance company who said that the provider could call for a guarantee of coverage so they could make me an appointment. I called back and got the lovely Tracy again and she said that she would not call them for the guarantee of coverage and that I'd had to wait for the roster. I have a compromised immune system and a simple infection can kill me. I called my insurance company and asked them to remove this awful office from their provider list. Ms. Tracy should be fired the way that she spoke to me. Please do not choose Lake Hills Dentistry as your dentist, the people they have working at the front desk should be the face of your business and I would not want them to drive people away. I had a crown that was in for years fall out one day, and when I called to make an appointment, they actually offered for me to come in that very day--within the next two hours! I didn't expect that, as usually you have to make dental appointments somewhat in advance. But it really seemed like they cared. They've always done a good job for me; the whole staff has. Worst dentist practice in the entire Chicagoland area. Their staff is rude. All they care about is money they don't care about the patient. If you need anything other than a filling or cap, they can't do much of anything. They do not have a dental hygienist. I would not go to the dentist even if it was an emergency. read more

I've been a patient at this practice for several years and have always been treated well. They have been fair and up-front with every question that I had. Doc Conomikes causes little to no pain and explains everything that is going on through the procedures as he works on me, or before he starts, as appropriate. We stopped going to this Dental practice for a number of reasons. Like another reviewer mentioned they repeatedly padded the bill with extras our insurance didn't cover and we had to tell them every time we went not to do the extras. The real capper was when a cap they put on my wife's tooth fell off after about 2 weeks and when she went back in another dentist from the practice (the dentist who put it in was off that week ) looked at it and refused to put it back in because she said it would not hold because there was not enough of the tooth left to have a good bond. She told my wife it never should have been attempted in the first place. My wife had to go to an oral surgeon to have the tooth removed and when he saw their records and xray he said they were no good and he had to redo them. We really wanted to make a complaint with some one but to be honest we really never could figure out how to do it. read more

I really like Dr Conomikes. He has always been very pleasant and professional with me. He takes his time with procedures and reassures you of all questions and concerns. I do however agree with the previous comments, office staff including the office manager have always been very rude. Demand payment at time of service even when insurance is pending and when my temporary crown fell out I was told to come pick up some cement and put it back in myself...SERIOUSLY??? Fridays are my days off and every time I make an appointment I am called to reschedule or cance , I feel strongly that this is becasue they close at noon on Fridays and want to get out of office early. After reading these reviews I am seriously questioning returning to this office, and I will definetley be paying closer attentions to the bills. read more

Lake in the Hills Dentistry (LITHD) was my entire family's primary dentist. Scheduling was decent but the tactics for financial gains used by the owner/ dentist of the practice were atrocious. For several years he was advising all of my children and me that after a cleaning or cavity filling, we needed a "desensitizer" for an extra charge that was not covered by our insurance/ out of pocket costs. I found out thru one of his employees that the desensitizer was actually "peridex" which is a gum desensitizer, not tooth desensitizer, and not needed for cleanings or cavity fills per our insurance company (that being the reason they won't cover it), a friend's Father who owns a dental practice, and ask-a-dentist.com (See below). I advised (LITHD)that my family no longer wanted the desensitizer but they continued to give it to my older kids, and charge me when I wasn't present untill I complained several more times. The last straw was when they charged me a $60 missed appointment fee for my oldest son's first missed appointment ever that he didn't make due to his job. The owner/ dentist advised that because my daughter missed two appointments over the last three years (resulting in a $20 and $40 fee), my son was charged $60 because it was our "family plan's" third missed appoint ment in three years. Even though, my children are over the age of 18/ adults, and are on their own adult accounts but under my insurance. We are now at another local dentist in the area that we are quite happy with. Ask a dentist reply below: There are materials that can be placed on the tooth surface that can help to prevent sensitivity. They are not generally necessary unless a cavity is very deep and close to the tooth nerve. Any cavity liner is considered part of the filling and is not charged separately. In most cases if the preparation and placement of a filling is reasonably well done, there is no sensitivity. That is not to say that occasionally teeth can be sensitive for a short period of time following fillings. Peridex is a chlorhexidine gluconate solution used to help control bacteria in the gum tissues and is not regarded as a desensitizer for cavities. It is also important that you feel comfortable with your care and if needed seek a second opinion. read more

My wife and I did not like our cleanings. I do not think we will be back. The doctor told my wife she had several cavities that needed immediate attention, but when she seen her normal dentist a couple of months later, there was only one cavity that needed to be addressed. Additionally, the information I was given about my recommended treatments was not well explained and I needed to call them to explain the information. I would go somewhere else. read more

I have had wonderful experiences with Dr. Jatoi (That may not be how you spell his name exacly, but I believe it is prounounced (Ja-Toy). I find him to be a gentle, kind,and good dentist. I do not care for the office manager at this office....she seemed consumed with the bottom line....but the dental care, I believe is exceptional. The receptionists are doing their best to do their job. I have had exceptional friendliness and sometimes a little stressed.....Don't we all understand that kind of circumstance? Before going to this dentist i read the reviews and saw that they were all bad but because this was closest to home i decided to settle with this place. It took me about a month to get a hold of them because they dont know how to answer the phone which was my first sign that this place was bad. Second, when we finally got an appt we went in and it took them over an hour to get us in with the doctor even tho there were no other patients waiting. Once we got into see the dentist, they refused to do a cleaning and sent us back home and had to come back a month later. WHEN we DID go back they had told us that it was just a cleaning and I made sure to ask if there was going to be any out of pocket payments and if everything would be covered and they said yes so we went ahead and did the cleaning and then 3 months later they send us a bill for $169 saying that insurance wasnt covered! I called my insurance company who then told me to call the dentist and then the office manager had the audacity to tell me that "i should have known" there was going to be a charge and that they have it written down in their notes that they explained it to us! That was complete bull! They also told us that we should get a different insurance because ours is "crap" and when confronted them about saying that they swore up and down that no one said such a thing. Office staff is rude and makes scheduling as difficult as possible. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and gave several chances...failed every time. Very negative vibe in the office over all. And the dentist' teeth looks like he could use good dentist himself. If you want a great dental office in the area check out Bay Hill Dental in Huntley. The office staff is extremely rude and incompetent. I scheduled an appointment a few weeks in advance and they did not tell me the paperwork they submitted to my insurance for pre-approval was never approved until I was actually sitting in the dental chair ready for my procedure. I even called the week before to make sure everything was taken care of and they assured me they had taken care of everything. So I took off of work for nothing and they made me call my insurance company as I sat in the dental chair to try to figure out the mistake made by the Lakehills office staff. The dentist was going to charge me a small fortune to complete the procedure that day without going through insurance, but I declined. Now that I have told them I'm switching to a new dentist, I suddenly owe them money from a previous procedure. I can't even believe this place is still in business. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTISTRY!!! I have been having it out with these people for four months now over a bill. I was sent to an oral surgeon to have a tooth removed so the dentist at LITH could put on a bridge. I was told after this whole procedure was done that I needed to call the oral surgeon to have the LITH bill fixed. This makes little to no sense, but I did as they asked. The oral surgeon's office had NO IDEA what I was talking about. They said the bill was paid and should have no effect whatsoever on LITH's bill. I called LITH back to tell them this. This was three weeks ago and still have not heard anything back. Their billing department and receptionists are extremely rude. They refuse to answer the phone, I always have to leave a message. My dentist is a nice man but I am not sure of his competence. While I was having a root canal done he had to shoot me with the anesthetic four times!! When I went to a different dentist because I couldn't get an appt. with LITH, she said that this was the worst work she had ever seen. She said there were other teeth that needed attention first and that the dentist did the most expensive work first so that when this was noticed, he would have been paid and wouldn't care.
