I would give Lakeland Vet a 10 out of 5 if I was able to. We recently had to bring our dog into a different vet clinic to address his not eating and lethargy. All the vet did was take an x-ray (no bloodwork even though he had a fever) and say our lab, Gunner had either a tumor in his belly or cancer, and recommended we take him to St. Cloud for an ultrasound. Yes the visit was cheap, but the vet dropped the ball and didn't pursue any further diagnostics and wanted to refer us. I used to work at Lakeland Vet, so I knew that they were capable of doing an ultrasound and being able to get Gunner in on a timely manner. With my experience at Lakeland, I knew I could trust the staff to do what is best for Gunner. We got in the next day for an ultrasound and bloodwork with Dr. Erica and discussed having an exploratory surgery due to the fact that there was a mass seen on ultrasound which is a serious condition. The next day Dr. Erica went into surgery with Gunner. She was kind enough to call us prior to surgery to keep us updated and even during the surgery to let us know the tumor was on the liver, which is an extremely difficult surgery that needs to be referred. Dr. Erica gave us our options: euthanize on the surgery table, referral to the U of M, or give it a try and remove the mass from the liver with a chance Gunner could still pass. We opted for Dr. Erica to do the surgery. A couple hours later she called my husband to let him know they were out of surgery and Gunner was doing well. Another well educated veterinarian, Dr. Kelly was also involved in assisting in Gunner's surgery to help give another hand and opinion on how to go about the surgery. The next day we brought Gunner home knowing we were to be "cautiously optimistic" about the outcome for the next 10 days. Each day Gunner was having more spunk in him and began having an appetite again. Well, today we brought Gunner in to have his staples taken out from surgery. He is as lively as he could be and seems like he is a puppy all over again! Yes, the visit and the surgery was expensive, but our dog is still alive! If we would have gone anywhere else, the outcome would have been bad. Both Dr. Erica and Dr. Kelly went out of their way to save Gunner that day. They put a lot of time and effort into Gunner and even used their own lunch time for the surgery. They were so compassionate about it checking in on Gunner every day after he went home. The saying is so very true: you get what you pay for. Gunner is still alive thanks to Dr. Erica, Dr. Kelly, and staff. I have several vet clinics close to where I live, but I will drive an hour to ensure the best veterinary medicine for my boys through Lakeland Vet! Thanks for everything Lakeland! So figured I'd start off with the good - Friendly Staff, Good Hours, Boarding Facility, Clean Building. Then the Bad - Let me start off by saying everybody makes mistakes, myself included so I usually don't go out of my way to post a negative review until the establishment in question has had a chance to make the situation rite or has offered up poor service routinely, in this case I have a couple examples I'd like to share to help others make the best decision for their beloved animal. Most recently brought my Alaskan Malamute in for treatment for a reoccurring ear infection, 3 instances of the infection reoccurring all treated at this facility. 1st instance was an examination, drops, and send me on my way ( seems okay ) 2nd instance a few weeks later, infection back, they knocked him out and gave me some strong antibiotics, should be good. 3rd instance infection had come back ( found out later was never cured ) but anyway was given a brief exam and told it was likely an allergy and drops, follow up with us in a week. By Friday - 3 days prior to the follow up, my poor doggo was screaming in pain, shaking his head, was walking in circles poor balance and coordination, woke me up 3-4 times that night, I was terrified. First thing Saturday morning, rushed him off to the Garrison animal hospital, who took me in right away thankfully, they discovered upon examination and shaving the ear, that the infection was the result of an ingrown hair which was causing the repeated infection ( one would have thought this should have been discovered the 2nd time when they had him under full sedation or maybe the 3rd time ) anyway - the Garrison animal hospital and super star Dr. Katie also pointed out the infection was pretty advanced and didn't feel the treatment of just drops would be effective to help him get over it, let alone the ingrown hair issue being overlooked, anyway so that was my experience. The resolution ? I called and asked for my money back from the 3rd treatment, I was given a 60 dollar refund of the $160.00 I originally paid, figured it wasn't worth further pursuit, mistakes happen I get it, but I sorta feel this situation was handled poorly and I am glad the Garrison hospital was able to come through for me before my poor doggo lost his hearing or worse. read more

I have been taking my bulldog here for years, and our Shih Tzu before that. I have always really liked Lakeland, yes they can be a bit more expensive but my dogs have always LOVED going there. This past visit however has cemented my loyalty. Yesterday I took both my bulldog Tate, and our lab mix Chewy to get their yearly physical and shots updated. While Tate is obnoxiously friendly, Chewy is far more skittish. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the kindness and patience they showed both of my monsters. We were there for almost an hour and half, and most of that time was spent trying to get Chewy's shots done. Eventually some spray cheese, distracting pets, and Dr. Erica's quick hand were able to get them done without him even noticing. It makes me happy to know that they are committed to making it as positive of an experience for my monsters as possible. Especially since It was Chewy's first time at a vet since his puppy shots. We'll be back next week to get him neutered and I have absolutely no fears about leaving him in their capable hands. read more

I don't usually write reviews; However, My Vet Dr. Kelly is the most caring and compassionate veterinarian I have ever seen in all of my 40 years as a dog owner. I have three German Shepherds, two young females and a elderly male that's 10. My first experience with Dr' Kelly was with my youngest "Lucy" which at the time was a puppy and at the visit Lucy shook terribly from fear. Dr. Kelly took almost an hour on the floor with treats and lots of love to win that dog over. I was very impressed to say the least! I am a very difficult dog parent and have tried several other vets in the area. 4 other vets to be exact. She is far and away the Vet that I trust for all of my dog care. My feeling is that she does this with all of her clients. She along with her Vet Tech assistant Melissa are the best. They offer Quality care and listen to my concerns then give options. No this Vet isn't the cheapest I've ever seen, but in my opinion my money is well spent here. My opinion, go here, See her, she cares. Pete C. read more

2025 TIME FOR ANOTHER SHOUT OUT! Many many thanks to Dr. Deb and the staff at Lakeland. We adopted a young calico and named her "Cali" of course. Greek for goodness and beauty. She just came home from surgery for spaying and within an hour was up to her old shenanigans and playfulness. We had to keep her as quiet as possible, but her energy is due to the great care she received. I hear the staff cuddled her the entire time she was there. Right now, she has taken over the dog stress bed and looks very happy and content. Appetite good and no pain. Lakeland has taken care of all of our cats and dogs for nearly 30 years by last count. They have all lived well into senior years thanks to the good advice and care from Lakeland. Five stars and a thousand hearts. read more

It's a wonderful place with wonderful staff! I set up an appointment online, past office hours, and they called first thing in the morning saying they had a spot open and would be more than happy to have us come in. It's a very clean and welcoming office! Dr. Kelly was awesome to work with. She was honest and talked to me like a normal person. She told me her opinion and gave me options for my pet. We opted for blood work and I heard back from her in two days. She explained what the test results were and again gave me the choice on what to do next. The staff was never pushy and very respectful! I was very impressed with them. My dog doesn't like strangers and is very protective of me so i was nervouse about bringing him to the vet. But he was in pain and his poor ears were hurting him that i decide were going.they got us in right away the next mornin. I was very surprised he was not worried at all call and nosey. Lol he let the two young ladies pet him and do his check up with no growling or biteing he was comfortable. We have to go back for a follow up in a couple weeks. This place is amazing!!!! We just had to say goodbye to our 15 year old lab, and Dr. Erica made the whole process so comforting. She helped me accept that it was the right decision. Our lab also went through 3 major surgeries at this hospital. One of which was a touch n go surgery. Dr. Deb Piepgras was very honest with us through the whole thing, and flat out told us he may not make it, but the fact that she was willing to try for us was huge. I have used Lakeland for 4 dogs/puppies now over the past 15 years. They are always compassionate, caring, friendly, and very thorough! While they care for the animals immensely, they also care for the owners and their comfort. All concerns have been explained thoroughly, instructions given both verbally and in writing, and I am never afraid to leave my dogs with them for overnight or extended care! Love, love, love them and wouldn't even consider going to another vet!!! read more

They were able to see Megan right away and diagnose her very fast. I brought her in for a very sore leg and thought she has sprained it...but thanks to Dr. Kelly being able to diagnose her very effectively, it turns out she has lymes disease. She is now doing great and thanks to Dr. Kelly I will be more informed and pro active in her flea and tick care. The total care we received from start to finish was exceptional. read more

She recently made a complicated diagnosis for our 4yo mixed breed and has worked tirelessly to help provide him with a better quality of life. I've had wonderful treatment at Lakeland for my dog. She's a service dog and when I see the staff in the community they always stop and chat. My dog is in the middle of heartworm treatment and when they had another dog who needed a few vials (manufacturers make you buy it in groups of 5) and I had extra, they called to ask to sell my extra. I came in for an emergency where my dogs eye had popped out of socket! They took me in right away and were all very nice. Dr Deb was so calm and professional, she calmed me down as I was tearful for my dog, she took care of rani right away! Great place! We have also boarded our yellow lab here and they offer a special quiet area for nervous dogs. read more
