The ambiance is great--probably the best part of the place. The food is consistent; consistently mediocre. I'm not gonna try to judge the quality of the bbq itself because I'm aware there are many different styles of bbq and I'm no expert. That said, everything else seems to be frozen and reheated. The fryer oil definitely needs to be cleaned or replaced. I've saved the worst for last--the service. The individual at the counter has entered our order incorrectly 2/3 times recently and seems to be very easily confused or flustered. I'm not sure we'll give this place another second chance.

Well, how to describe the disappointment…read more This place seems like someone from Iowa watched YouTube videos on how to smoke meat, then bought a barn off eBay and set it up in the middle of Missouri. In a state known for barbecue - this was a huge let down. The secret is low and slow - but I don't think these folks got the message. I have had better meat made in an oven. The ribs were under-cooked, and chewy. They didn't come close to "falling off the bone". Their "rub" was thick and sweet - maybe too much brown sugar? The brisket almost tasted microwaved. It was dry on the lean side, and chewy on the fatty side. None of the tell-tale signs of smoking meat really. The sides were OK, although the "fried potato salad" is just home-fries with some sauce on them. They would have been good for breakfast though! The slaw was decent although generic - almost could have been bought from Nobel-Sysco. The green beans were a stand out, they were very good. The fried okra was nothing better than what came out of a box. The barn was really cool, and the server was very friendly. Just disappointing food.
