I absolutely love this hidden gem. What a great deli. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super clean and bright with an inviting atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So many choices of drinks, chips and menu items. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and had such an amazing conversation with the owner. We got a Philly cheesesteak and pastrami on rye. Both were very tasty. The meat was so tender and well seasoned. I will definitely return to try other food on the menu!

I've heard great things and have driven by the lakeside deli too man times to count, so it was finally time to stop in. Very bright and clean inside. The owner greeted us right away and was super friendly. Sandwhiches are made to order, and the kitchen team was very fast The Deli reminded me of a typical NY shop with just a simple menu. We had philly cheesesteaks to go. They were very good! Fresh soft roll, generous size. I will definitely stop back in Lots of cold drink options in coolers Small assortment of "other" quick pickup items Tables and chairs outside Private parking lot FYI, there is an uneven bump in the floor ( maybe from combining 2 shops), so be mindful. I was also excited to see Maharajah coffee on the shelf too! My rating rationale  +1 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

Had a friend tell me about Lakeside Deli and how good the food was and good priced. I decided to check it out today. I like small shops and not chains because the service is usually better. The Lakeside deli did not disappoint. I was immediately greeted and made to feel like a valuable customer. The staff was very friendly and attentive offering any assistance they could. The shop is small but has a really good selection of items. The seating is outside on their little patio area. Was nicely shaded so not right in the sun which made the seating area a little more comfortable. Parking in front and on the side of the business. I had the Steak & Cheese, I thought it was very good. Needs a little more seasoning however it was one of the fastest sandwiches I've ever had made and tasted fresh. I got the fires to go with it and they are your basic average fries. The potato salad looked really good and I wish I had tried that. All in all I will definitely be back to try some of these other sandwiches on the menu. I am really looking forward to the pastrami sandwich they have.

9/4/23 6pm Lakeside deli I read the reviews about the steak and cheese being like the best ever so I had to go try one . I called in my order and the nice man on the phone said it would be ready in five minutes. I arrived in about five minutes and it was ready!!! I noticed a big sign in the window that advertise their steak and cheese. I also noticed at least five signs on Lakeside Avenue advertising the steak and cheese. This deli had outside seating. I noticed a dog bowl so I can only assume it's pet friendly. Family friendly. Inside of the store, they had an array of beverages, and the store looked very clean . The man at the counter, I believe is probably the same in the answer the phone, and he was extremely nice and polite . That is always appreciated. The sandwich is quite large. I will probably only eat half. Upon biting into the sandwich I noticed it was a tad spicy, which is not good for me because I do not like spice. And too, not expected. The spice is very little, so it still edible. Besides that I mean, it's pretty average. I don't taste anything that really makes it exceptional.. don't get me wrong it's seasoned and tasty but just average. Because of the customer service and cleanliness of the store, I'd revisit and try something else.

I had been telling my Dad for a while about how fun this place is, how nice everyone usually is, and how much I thought he would enjoy it. We were finally able to come together today, and he was genuinely excited to see the inside and have breakfast here for the first time. As expected, we were told the wait would be about 45-50 minutes. Fine. The place was busy, as it usually is, and we had absolutely no problem waiting. I spent years working as a server and hostess. I understand busy restaurants, long waits, and tables that don't turn as quickly as expected. After waiting about 40 minutes, I went to the host stand to simply ask for an update. We had watched people leave and groups continue to be seated during our wait, so I wanted to see where we stood. The young man at the host stand told me it would be ANOTHER 40-50 minutes. I genuinely thought he had confused our name with someone else's, so I explained that we had already been waiting for 40 minutes. He told me our names were "at the bottom of the list" and that people inside were moving very slowly. No apology. No double-checking the list. No attempt to figure out how a quoted 45-50 minute wait had suddenly turned into an hour and a half. He didn't ask if we were willing to sit inside, offer another seating option, or even suggest placing a to-go order. Nothing. He was completely dismissive. So I handed him the menu and my Dad and I left. Then, just 20 MINUTES later--not the additional 40-50 minutes we had literally just been told--I received a call saying our table was ready. I tried to explain that we were no longer there and WHY we had left. The second I said we had "left," I was HUNG UP ON. Honestly, that was it for me. Before that phone call, I was actually sitting in the car telling my Dad that maybe we could try again another day. Despite being embarrassed and disappointed after talking this place up to him so much, I was still willing to chalk it up to a bad interaction with one host. Getting hung up on completely sealed the deal. I'm not angry because the restaurant was busy. I'm angry because we were treated like we didn't matter. I'm angry because we waited patiently for 40 minutes, politely asked one question, and were dismissed with inaccurate information instead of someone taking 30 seconds to double-check. I'm angry because when I tried to explain what had happened, I wasn't even given the basic courtesy of finishing a sentence before someone hung up on me. My Dad and I have lived in Lakeside for over 30 years. We weren't asking to skip the line. We weren't demanding a table. We weren't rude to anyone. We were two local customers who were excited to have breakfast together at a place I had genuinely loved and recommended to other people. We will NEVER be back. And yes, we will absolutely be telling our friends, family, and neighbors about how we were treated and recommending that they go somewhere else unless they want to risk being dismissed, given completely inaccurate wait information, and hung up on when they try to explain why they left. Apparently this place is busy enough that treating people with basic courtesy no longer matters. That's fine. There are plenty of other restaurants that will happily take our money and, at the very least, treat my Dad and me like human beings. What was supposed to be a fun breakfast with my Dad turned into one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a long time. I went from genuinely loving and recommending this place to never wanting to step foot inside again. Congratulations. You lost two longtime local customers in less than an hour.

The tea eggs were beautifully done and my brain immediately wanted congee with them because they were that delicious. The Quirky Theia was rich with the beef shank and also a bit spicy from the mala paste. It balanced well with the scallion pancake we chose to wrap it in.
