This was my first time visiting since they moved however long ago, and boy have I miss them so. I got my favorite classics - veggie spring rolls with chili oil and the blackened shrimp bowl - and they're as good as I remember. I'm so happy that they now have brûléed grapefruit slice reminiscent of Salt & Forge. The space is cozy but has ample seating indoors and outside. It's so bright, clean, and inviting. Street parking can be challenging but not so much that it'll deter ya. I've attended a few events that have been catered by Soul N' Vinegar, and it made me wish I had an event to plan, lol. I can't remember anything I've tried of theirs that I didn't like. read more

This is a cafe and market with some eclectic, southern-ish kind of options. I ordered towards the end of their hours, and my order was ready before I was. And yet, they apparently made my smoothie and refrigerated it for me so it was still a smoothie when I got there, so that's good. It was a peanut butter, fruit, and seed mixture which strikes a balance somewhere between nutritious and delicious. My falafel was quite tasty and came with a resplendent green sauce, though only two of those patties for the money was not great. But the best item was actually the spring rolls that I took with me to an area without a lot of food. The accompanying chili oil had a few fermented beans in it, so there was definitely some quality there. It was interesting food, and there was plenty else there to consider. read more

It's amazing inside! Very cute decorations and overall a quiet place! Workers are very nice making service super nice! I got the falafel bowl which was amazing, tasting it I could tell everything was tasty and the pickled onion a really added to the bowl. I felt everything went together nicely although could have used a little something to wrap all the flavors up. It is a bit pricey but definitely worth how clean it seemed the products were and was a good portion of food! read more

Stopped by for lunch with my mom. What a great cafe. We had their chicken sandwich, which was wonderfully light, and falafel bites with verde sauce. It was a wonderful, relaxed meal. The staff is warm and friendly all while being attentive but not overbearing. Highly recommend visiting! read more

I was craving a smoothie on a Monday morning around lunchtime and my usual spot was closed. I remembered this was in the area and checked the menu and was pleasantly surprised that it was super close to me in eastern Henrico! I ordered the berries n cream smoothie. The cashier was super friendly and rang me up and made the smoothie pretty quickly. It was a bit quiet inside but a few lunch goers were trickling in. Seems like a great place for a nice quiet lunch. I found this place in a unique way. Beacuse I am new to the area, someone at my job threw away a bag that had the restaurant's name on it. I think they actually started with whole chicken parts because I encountered some bones or gristle. However, this is phenomenal in my opinion because the chicken was flavorful, tender and moist. The bread is good but will fall apart so don't eat and drive with this sandwich. The cilantro sauce is noticeable but doesn't overwhelm the sandwich . My only suggestion to the establishment is to mention that because you are using chicken from chicken parts that the patron may encounter a bone or gristle. read more

September 2 or 3rd (I think) ugh Soul n' Vinegar delivered lunch to the school I work at, Virginia Randolph. Everything was delivered on time. We had a nice selection to choose from. I decided on Turkey & Pimento Cheese. I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the bread really fresh, it was also delicious. The boxed lunch came with a bag of chips, a cup of fresh fruit and a brownie!! Everything was great. Only 1 thing for me, the brownie was too sweet. Super cute little spot tucked away on Q street in Church Hill offering a small menu of smoothies, build a bowl, and sandwiches. They are currently in the process of applying for their ABC license which will be a nice addition as they have a lovely patio that is perfect for a glass of wine and some small bites! Had the turkey and bangin' pimento cheese sandwich and I can attest that it was in fact, bangin'. I can definitely see myself having some leisurely summer lunches here! read more

A little gem I found while driving in the hood. I'm not from around here. Came around to pick something up from a friend. The inside is very chic, modern and clean. While searching for a new restaurant to try during black restaurant week, we came across Soul & Vinegar. They are set up with already prepared food that you can pick up and go quickly. They have some really great vegan options. I chose a grain bowl. (it includes quinoa, kale, roasted yams, chick peas and red pepper) it was very flavorful and I loved it. This place is so great, what a hidden gem. This is some of the freshest food I've had in Richmond, for real. There are no bad choices on the menu here and it's consistent every time. Employees are always friendly and willing to answer questions and give suggestions. I've taken 3 people here for lunch and all 3 cannot stop talking about this food. This standalone corner spot is a gem! Bringing good food to the east end. My first time walking in and I was greeted with a smile! They offered to help me with any questions I may have had. There is a space to sit in and eat if you choose. They offer a microwave for you to heat up your food if you take the eat in option. OH. MY. GOD. OOOOOOOH MY GOD. I found Soul N' Vinegar recently on Instagram and knew I had to go for the molasses glazed Korean meatballs. I went today on my lunch break and I was just amazed. The Korean meatballs with the farro and collards were amazing. BUT the real star of the show was the freakin' vegan strawberry shortbread!!!! Omg this was actually one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. It was insanely moist and rich and buttery. UGH. Just thinking about my next chance to get some of that shortbread... They recently catered a large event for me - where I had to accommodate vegans, paleos, omnivores, foodies, gluten-free, corn-allergy, and - hardest of all - conservative eaters who don't like "new" foods. The owner Michelle is awesome - super nice/friendly/easy to work with. The food came on time and was set up beautifully, but, most importantly, everyone was super happy - the food was absolutely delicious, and everyone who complimented was THRILLED to know about the store front in Church Hill - where the menu changes weekly and there is lots of grab & go food. There were plenty of leftovers - and enough of the ham salad & pimento cheese leftovers for late night guests to eat a second round. I cannot recommend Soul N Vinegar enough - would absolutely use their catering again and will continue to stop by for grab&go from their super cute storefront. Just to shout out a few things - you cannot go wrong with the ham salad, pimento cheese, or vegan dirty rice.... but, yes, everything I have tried has been AMAZING! Everything we've had here is great! It's a menu/item-of-the-day, grab-and-go type place, though there is some seating as well. Today they had plantains, pulled chicken, and pickled (I think? however they were prepared, they were delicious!) peppers which were really good. They also consistently have several snacks and smaller items like ham salad, pimento cheese, and hummus. We've been a few times and have loved everything so far! read more

Everything here is great! The owner is very approachable and friendly. All of the food is very affordable and has quickly become my new favorite takeout lunch spot. Menu items are usually in rotation, my favorite is the red cabbage slaw which is typically available as it's own side or in a main dish.
