I have a 2003 honda accord with 120k miles on it so i expect i'll need to have some maintenance done to the vehicle at times. However, when i pulled out of my parking spot one morning there was a huge oil spot underneath my car. Scary. I took the car in for a look. Within about 20 mins Tim had diagnosed the issue, assured me it wasn't that big of deal, and was able to provide me a quote on the service that was more than reasonable. I went to him thinking the worst and that i would be having to either replace the engine or get a new car. Due to my own travel i wasn't able to have my car worked on that week, but Tim was open to communicating with me via text message to set up an appointment to have my car serviced and he even provided a loaner vehicle. (I talk on the phone for a living so if i can do anything via text or email it's a huge bonus for me) Most importantly I felt like i could trust Tim. I hate going to a mechanic and they try take advantage of the fact i know nothing of vehicles and try to get you to pay for services that aren't necessary. I was completely prepared to have other services performed but Tim assured me that if i wasn't having issues with the vehicle they could probably wait and saved me some money in the end. He could have easily put some extra money in the shops pocket but instead he created a repeat customer. Went to ASC since my car's check engine light is on. They told me that it needs oil change. I…read moreagreed, asked them to check the code and diagnose after the oil change. They did change the oil, provided a list of the error codes and cleared the codes. I was charged for $269 for the visit! If I go to anywhere else for oil change, the cost will be $60-70 at most. Bob's explanation is that they use a very expensive computer to read the codes; and the minimum charge is $135. I never knew that any car repair will charge anything for reading and clearing the codes. This is totally a rip-off! Will never go to ASC again!

It was an old car, so of course rust will be present but to lie about it, hide it and try to upsell the car is crazy. I was snapped at, then not only belittled and treated as if I was delusional about there being rust but he was incredibly abrasive and rude. The 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L is an older Honda that I know will run forever if properly maintained. As I have always kept it maintained. Since we donated it to our theater company we can't spend money on "nice to have" fixes, but focus on safety and drive-ability fixes (thus why my rear wiper was never fixed - maybe you can give me have a good deal on the repair :-)). Francisco never tried to upsell me, nor did he or anyone at Sullivan Tire look down on me or the van for being too old to repair. He communicated my issues to the tech who was competent in his work and more importantly understand what was wrong with the van based on Francisco's input from my lengthy and patient conversations. I understand a battery drain is a tricky job to diagnose. I was very hesitant to do the job and considered the van going the way of the junk yard, as a "battery drain" can easily mean a "wallet drain". The process required a lot of time and patience from both the tech and the customer. When I wanted to take the car for the day and bring it back, Francisco gave me an honest assessment and told me it could undo some of the troubleshooting work that is currently underway. I am glad I left the van for over a week listened to their advice. Sullivan Tire has the customer in mind, but also needs to have what is best for the vehicle in mind too - regardless of the customer's preference. I respect that, and that is what makes a good mechanic a great mechanic. It is a tough industry to be in, with rising parts costs, hotter summers and colder winters, or vehicles are under a lot of strain and great mechanics are needed more than ever for an older vehicles to run right. As I can sense that the repair was done right - based on that unspoken feeling, as the windows roll down a little more faster, starting up is a little quicker, the van is much more responsive and back to its old self again! The van now runs and rides (from recently new tires from Sullivan) unlike a vehicle that is almost 20 yrs old with 235,000 miles on it. It's a Honda that was built at a time when quality mattered.
