Went to ASC since my car's check engine light is on. They told me that it needs oil change. I agreed, asked them to check the code and diagnose after the oil change. They did change the oil, provided a list of the error codes and cleared the codes. I was charged for $269 for the visit! If I go to anywhere else for oil change, the cost will be $60-70 at most. Bob's explanation is that they use a very expensive computer to read the codes; and the minimum charge is $135. I never knew that any car repair will charge anything for reading and clearing the codes. This is totally a rip-off! Will never go to ASC again! read more

Ashland Service center does a great job with our cars. They service the entire family. They are very honest and always get the job done correctly the first time. We particularly like the emphasis on preventative maintenance. Our three cars have a total of 650,000 miles and still running strong. Wish I could give 6 stars! My car broke down on the pike last week and I had AAA tow it to Ashland Service Center. The store was closed when I got there but the owner, Bob, was still there working away on cars. I ended up having numerous issues with my car but Bob had them fixed in less than a week for a very reasonable place. Definitely suggest going here for any service related issues! read more

Do you have an auto mechanic that you trust 100% to make repairs to your car? Does your current mechanic take the time to go over your whole car when it's in his shop? Are you told what needs to be replaced then and what repairs can wait until later on? When you're given the invoice, is the total amount what was quoted to you by the mechanic? If the answer is "no" to any or all of these questions, then you need to bring your car to Ashland Service Center. In July of 2013 I was hearing loud metallic creaking and groaning noises in the front and rear of my 2000 Chevrolet Prism. It had 114,410 miles on it. Bob diagnosed the problem as broken stabilizer links. He replaced them as well as locating and getting rid of several other rattles and squeaks that my car would make when going over railroad tracks, bumps, pavement cracks, etc. When I picked up my car, it rode like new. After all the potholes that I couldn't swerve to avoid this past winter, the creaking and groaning noises returned to the front of my car. Bob looked at the car and said that it was the stabilizer links again but that they were under warranty. He replaced them and only charged me for the labor. He apologized profusely that the manufacturer would not cover the labor cost. Would your mechanic have done this or would he have said that you needed to pay for new stabilizer links and the labor costs? Bob's prices are reasonable. He'll do everything he can to keep your car in top running condition. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else to be repaired. read more

It is really important to have trust in your mechanic ...to feel secure in knowing that they will diagnose your car correctly and fix only what is necessary. I have absolute faith in these guys and have been taking my car here for years. They always take care of me the same day (whenever possible) and always work to find the best and most cost effective solution. Bob is hands down the best mechanic in metro west I couldn't think of a shop that treated me or my truck better.

Had my car towed there. Lived in Framingham for 6 years and never heard of this place but the tow truck driver said it was good. Destroyed my clutch and fly wheel. How do I know this? Cause Bob. He has over 40 years experience in this field and it shows. His drawings however are far from fridge worthy. He took the time to hand draw wheel bearings and why they make that stupid noise. Bob will not let you leave until you understand what he did even if he needs to draw it for you. Nobody likes auto repair shops...its like the damn DMV ... but it's great to know a place like Ashland service is there to help .. and hell if your nice maybe Bob will draw something for you. read more

Bob and his crew have gone out of their way to help me in a pinch two years in a row. Amidst time constraints they have been able to get my car repaired same day twice, and both times the repairs could have taken another day or two.
