The customer service at this place is atrocious. The Emergency waiting room attendant showed no compassion, the Emergency staff did not effectively communicate any sort of plan of care. I was left in a patient room for hours with no explanation of what or who I was waiting for. When the Doctor finally arrived he introduced himself only by his first name, corrected my husband when he tried to call him a Doctor and said to call him by his name and rolled his eyes the whole time I was speaking to him. He listened to my complaint and then proceded to argue with me about the symantics of what my PC told me to report. He than said he would prescribe antibiotics and left never to return. Hours later someone from "HMS" showed up and said she was admitting me. That was the last time I saw her. I was admitted for a large kidney stone. Once I got to my room the nursing staff informed me that my surgery couldn't be scheduled because no one had told the urologist that I was there. It took another 6 hours for a urologist to be assigned to my case and my surgery was finally scheduled 22 hours after I arrived. I didn't see another doctor until I was in preop. The urologist was very professional and has a good bedside manner. He explained everything to me including the timeline, post surgery, that I could go home. The surgery went well. However, back in my room I was once again approached by another woman from "HMS" who told me I would not be going home. When I asked her for an explanation she could not give me one. It was only when I asked for a supervisor that I was allowed to leave. This ordeal took a total of 31 hours most of which I spent sitting and waiting with no information. When I was finally permitted to leave they began to shove medical supplies into my bags saying I should take them because I paid for them and if i didn't they would just throw them away, whether or not they had been used. read more

My PCP Dr. Jeffrey is amazing! Pain Management physician I was with about 10 years, visits lasted less than 2 minutes. Communication was terrible. No follow up after an epidural. Pharmacy was filling my meds, my insurance covers most only 21 days. I was treated badly last visit. Spoke with my pharmacy and apparently, they did 28 courtesy fills on pain meds. which had nothing to do with me or requesting that. Planned a travel day, family is 7 hours away. I had done early vacation fills before. Instead of telling me what was going on and not filling an early vacation to surprise my Granddaughter on her 14th Birthday, I missed out. My husband is gone over half a year for work and making trips is difficult. Instead of explaining anything I was treated like I had something wrong. I hope he treats current and future patients with more compassion and better communication. read more

Regrettably I've had two reasons to experience care here, my own separated shoulder last month and a procedure my wife had this month. I guess follow up visits with the orthopedic doctor would be three. Yikes! Checking in has always been a smooth process, even at the emergency room. Waiting is always the hardest part, but it's never been unreasonable, although getting my x-rays and CT scans assessed on a Sunday afternoon was on the slow side. Fortunately my wife and friends were there to help the time pass more cheerfully. And staff checked in periodically, so I never felt forgotten. The pre-op team who cared for my wife were great. Caring and comforting. Major props. We avoid hospitals if at all possible, but if and when the need arises, this one has been good for us. read more

Nobody likes a hospital but I LOVED my experience here. There honestly wasn't a single person that I didn't enjoy working with....the hospitalist, the urologist, the OBGYN, the anesthesiologist, the nurses! The night nurse was my least favorite but tbh she didn't even come in to help me she had another kid working there do it. They all gave a shit about my experience and me and my baby and were able to get me into surgery 5 hours after I checked in to the ER. The process was quick and efficient for as much as I think they can do. The mobile / virtual nurses are weird (the fact that they do it) but I guess that's just the way our world and medical system are moving. I went in for surgery and was out of pain in no time. They seemed understaffed the next day so it took a lot longer for me to get discharged but I would go here again if I had too and hope it's the same experience. read more

This hospital refuses to take responsibility for what happened to me. I had a hysterectomy performed here by Dr. Ann Sullivan, and the results have been catastrophic. The procedure left me with organ prolapse, a crushed bladder, and severe internal damage. After months of suffering and no help from this hospital, I went to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Their specialists confirmed that the damage was caused by poor surgical technique during my procedure here. I now face multiple reconstruction surgeries, each one painful and expensive, just to try to repair the damage. I have called and left messages repeatedly with patient relations and administration -- no one calls back. The silence from this hospital is as damaging as the surgery itself. If you're considering surgery here, please get a second opinion. What I've been through is life-altering and completely preventable. read more

Worst experience i have had in omaha , with orders not done, cafeteria didn't put my order in, nurse called twice , order food , costs me money to have food delivered, Poked 11 times to get my vein, very untrained nurses in ER...left me there 3 hours, 3 hours , ridiculous...cna was rude. Like it was a bother to answer the light Wednesday, to help me to the bathroom. Chi lakeside you have hit the bottom, no structure, obviously hire anyone.....so much to list but why bother. The ER at Lakeside is poorly staffed and poorly run. Long wait times to be taken into a room. Long wait time in the ER rooms before being seen by a physician. I came in by ambulance. The hospital was given a run down of my broken arm. I waited for over 20 minutes before husband went looking for someone to give meds. Almost 2 hours before my arm was xrayed. When they let me go, they sent me out the door without a wheelchair ride, in barefeet. Just "you can go now". They would not give pain meds to take home even tho' they knew the only pharmacy that was open at 2 am was in La Vista. The sling they put on me was a child's...way too small. My hand swelled up. I went to NebraskaOrtho the next day. They were appalled by what they saw of my treatment. DO NOT GO TO LAKESIDE ER. read more

The staff in the registration area made for a dangerous and uncomfortable time at Lakeside. None of them masked and they all had coughs. Disgusting. One was coughing, hacking, and blowing her nose SO much she had to duck I to a neighboring room to carry on her coughing attack. It's unsafe and unsanitary and I couldn't be more disappointed. This hospital ER has been so good to our family. We took my son here for stitches in his finger. My husband was treated for an obscure infection. And now this hospital saved my Dad's life. He walked into the ER earlier this week having a heart attack. He's not your typical candidate of cardiovascular disease - active, early 60s, healthy diet - so this truly felt like a shock. However, two arteries were 99% blocked. Dr. Khalil smoothly and efficiently placed 2 stents within minutes of his arrival in the ER. Every doctor, every nurse, every NP thereafter were the best of the best. I would trust this hospital with any loved one, as I believe they truly care about their patients. My Dad spent 2 nights in Lakeside ICU, and was discharged yesterday, just in time for Christmas with his family read more

I have always enjoyed this facility. Plenty of parking, volunteers stationed at key points to provide assistance or guide you to the right building or office, and most of my physical visits occur here. The labs are convenient and the staff are very friendly and cordial. The parking lots are getting a facelift and there are several entry points to enter and exit either the hospital or medical building. The restrooms are very clean and the signs are helpful for leading you in the correct direction if you pay attention to them. Just watch out for cars who accidentally run the stop signs because they aren't paying attention. read more

There is a reason that this hospital is called 'death by the lake'. If you have a loved one that you really don't like be sure and take them to this hospital because they probably won't come out alive. My husband was taken to Lakeside emergency after a heart attack. He needed surgery and it was scheduled for the next day. Everything that could go wrong during his heart surgery went wrong. They needed a code to get into a machine during his surgery and no one had it so one of the nurses had to go out in the hallway and find someone to give them the code. They needed three stents and they only had one. It wasn't drug coated like the newer ones are. They already had one surgery that day and they had used up all but one of the stents so they didn't have enough left for my husband. They had to close him up and schedule a follow up surgery for three weeks later. We weren't told the truth about why they didn't finish the surgery. When we were checking in to a different hospital three weeks later, we were telling his nurse about our bizarre experience and he knew exactly what we were talking about because his wife was the cardiologist that had done the surgery on my husband. He said she came home the day of the surgery and said there was not one single solitary thing she needed in the operating room. She was furious. Oh, and it just gets better. After the second surgery we were billed $4000 that the hospital wanted us to pay over and above what the insurance company paid. I called them and said, "My husband would not have needed the surgery if you had the stents available and had done it right the first time." It took quite awhile but they finally wrote it off. I was telling another doctor about our experience and he told me that he would not send his dog to that hospital. To me it's absolutely crazy that a hospital that's in such a handy location and such a lovely hospital has such a horrible, horrible, horrible reputation. read more

Is there a ZERO star review option? Once again the Lakeside ER is a joke. I begged the ambulance driver to take my 90 year old non responding mother to Methodist. Due to distance they had to go to lakeside ER. We saw a very arrogant DO doctor who could only say I will not order certain test as she is 90. " My team won't allow me to order " ( testing such as MRI) I asked if we could try and rule out a mini stroke but the doctor said "So what if it shows a mini stroke she's 90! Umm she's my mom you idiot who was living independently and is worth helping figure out why she is now unresponsive!! He Basically wanted to send an unresponsive woman back home He could have cared less about helping my mom. He kept saying "I see this all the time. Old people get like this" We ended up getting her transferred out of Lakeside to Methodist hospital. Methodist docs never said a word about her age. Test are being ordered. CHI ER doctor couldn't or did not want to figure out how to help my mom as he told me SEVERAL times she was old. He made it obvious we were just taking up his time. Heartless arrogant young doctor. Obviously he missed class when they discussed compassion, and respect for older people. read more

Lakeside ER is ok with performing unsafe discharges on patients. It might end up getting them sued after our experience. My 78 yr old mother in law was taken by ambulance around 10pm for low oxygen saturation, among other things. We got a phone call at 1am telling us she was being discharged and they were transporting her back to the independent living facility. She wasn't able to get out of bed by herself at all, but they didn't care & forced my husband to go meet them at her apartment so they could drop her off. She went back by ambulance the next afternoon and ended up being admitted as she should've been in the first place and we have an investigation going on by two of their departments now. If I could give a zero rating of Lakeside hospital ER I would. My daughter, granddaughter & myself were seen in the ER after being in a serious car accident. I was taken by ambulance while the other two were driven there. When I was wheeled into the ER it almost seemed like it was an inconvenience I was there. The doctor had a pleasant enough personality what I saw of him. They took X-rays which was fine, said nothing was broken & sent me on my way. I was offered pain meds & was released. While my information was being taken by the nurse not only was my name misspelled after repeatedly spelling it for them, they listed the information of the accident incorrect. They stated the airbags did not deploy when repeatedly I stated all of them had. My granddaughters pediatricians name was listed incorrectly as well. While I was being discharged &they were removing the bp cuff they laid my discharge papers in my legs. They were dropped on my legs which is where my injury was. I had explained I was having severe leg pain & they just dropped the papers on top of them. Two days later I was seen again at a different ER. They did some blood work besides ran a doppler to check for blood clots.While the tests revealed I didn't have any blood clots, thank God, my hemoglobin had dropped several points because I was bleeding into my legs. There were so man discrepancies at lakeside, it was ridiculous. My daughter had a sprained wrist. They did not give her any kind of a brace or even wrap it with an ace bandage. While I didn't think the care was as good as it should have been I will say the receptionist, Jan, was fantastic. Not only did she have a great personality she was very helpful. She got me ice bags for my legs when the other staff did not provide them even when they said they were sending me home with some. Jan deserves a 5 star rating but she's the only one! I would NEVER go to Lakeside again. read more

Amazing hospital. Dr Jill Burke took amazing care of me. The entire team was amazing. I was on the second floor surgical center. I'm writing this review because my nurse Mary was freaking amazing. She felt like a old friend or family member and I absolutely loved her. She cared for me like my mom or my grandma would. She loves her job. This woman deserves a big fat promotion. Most nurses are not like Mary. I felt super bad for hours. She was there quick every time I needed her... answered all my questions ...love this woman read more

Went to the ER on a Wednesday evening by rescue squad. Was not seen for over a half hour. Left alone in the room for extended periods of time between being told doctor would be right there. They had a training nurse bring a portable xray to the room and my xrays were done before pain meds were given. Had to ring the bell for pain meds after a 20 minute wait after doctor came in and said my arm was broken. Put me in a sling that was way too small and were going to have me walk out in barefeet after they decided it was time for me to leave. Lakeside ER killed my boyfriend!!!!!! read this and feel free to share it!!!!!!!! Imagine taking your child, spouse, friend or parent to the er. So badly needing to get them help but no one helps. Imagine going into the er begging for help outside and no one comes to help. Imagine getting inside the er finally and still no one rushes to help you or your loved one. Imagine finding out that your loved one is having a cardiac emergency and the cardiologist isn't even on the property after they wasted precious time not helping. Imagine hearing the cardiologist tell you your loved one didn't make it and that they weren't equipped for an emergency like this. Imagine how it would feel after filing a complaint with the state over all of it to hear the state say that they have disturbing footage of your loved one having a seizure right outside the er entrance and that a doctor is on camera looking right at him and then walks around him to go inside to work. They didn't stop to help or tell anyone he needed help at all. Just left him there. This is what happened the day we lost Nathan Nichols. I will keep sharing his story with anyone who will listen. I want to make people aware that lakeside is not a place to ever for an emergency. It shouldn't even be open for business. I don't want another family to go through the pain that we will live with until we see him again. Please share his story. Make others aware of the dangers of this place. read more

My experience at Lakeside started in the ER, where every staff member was respectful, courteous and worked efficiently to diagnose and they started treating me immediately. I was admitted to the hospital and stayed for about four days on the 4th floor. Every Doctor and Nurse that I encountered was professional, kind, attentive and always patient. They took amazing care of me and made sure I was comfortable while there and had all the information I needed to care for myself correctly after I was discharged. Do not use this ER! They are overpriced and overcharge for the facility cost. 4 hours in the ER cost me $4000.00 and that's after insurance. All they did was give me medicine to lower my blood pressure. They won't work with me on lower payments or a settlement. I'll never use this facility again and have advised all family and friends to stay away!! read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this hospital, I recommend it to everyone. I had my son here almost one year ago. I joke to my husband about having another child just to stay here for a few days, it was that great of an expirience for me. My favorite part of having my son here was that they let you order as much food as you want, and it actually all tasted very good! Any other hospital food I've ever had was flavorless and boring. These guys had a huge menu and I loved everything I ate. They keep your room clean, and make sure your always well taken care of. The bathrooms were gorgeous and had a nice big tub. Very relaxing. The bed was comfortable, and they had an ice machine right outside my room that I wish I could have taken home. (Perfectly sized little ice chunks that were fun to snack on. And I have a water addiction, so..) There was a couch in the room that pulled out into a bed for my husband to sleep on, and they even let my older son stay at the hospital with us. The doctors, nurses, everyone I came into contact with was beyond accomodating. I felt like I was on vacation. I love lakeside and will continue to recommend to everyone! read more

I went to lakeside hospital for having an major anxiety attack.. happens every once in a while to me!! Of course, i really have no complaints about the service as everybody did their best to help me and ultimately i left after just a few hours.. The reason I'm really disgusted with them is how they handled the billing.. i have no health benefits and told them i did not want to apply for medicaid at the time because my daughter was receiving medicaid and she needed a cochlear implant.. i just didn't want to take a chance to affect her benefits since the amount for her surgery far outweighed the $2500 it would cost me to pay my short hospital visit.. I was more than willing to make payments till it was payed in full... but they (the billing dept.) didn't seem to want to go that route if i didn't apply for medicaid.. And instead i've been sued a couple years later with added attorney fees now.. Why go down this road?? I've been sued for a little over $2500 Without making a reasonable attempt at collecting on the bill through their billing dept.. how hard would it be to work with people.. I have NO problems with Methodist health system as they work with me every month with great patience and kindness.. I went in to get help for my anxiety.. and this is the kind of help that i get!! From now i will go only to methodist! They also told me before i left that day how they are a catholic organization and will help people no matter if they can pay the bill or not!! That's a BOLD FACED LIE!!! Selling past due accounts to collection agency for pennies on the dollar has to be the absolute worst thing ethically you can do when you're main purpose is to help people.. They also use Merchants credit adjusters inc. which happens to sue you before they even try to work out a payment plan.. This company [the one lakeside hospital will use to collect their debt against you] has been sued 8 times in the last four years for harassment.. also they have 20 complaints to the BBB in the same time period!! This hospital is the worst! Admitting didn't want to check me in unless I gave them my social security number. No way! With all of the ransomware attacks? I came in with chest pains and can't breathe, with a history of heart attacks. They did take X-rays and blood, but it was 4 hours before I saw a doctor. I got yelled at by a nurse when I asked to leave that other people are dying and I wasn't a priority. A heart attack's not a priority? The "doctor" was the rudest person I've run across. I asked to leave, they aren't doing anything anyhow, it's at 5 hours and still nothing for pain or any treatment. Never again!! read more

Friday, Aug. 26th I had my 5th heart attack. My wife and I arrived at 9:30 pm and went to the desk. There was a woman being helped there at the time.It didn't take long and my wife spoke up telling the man behind the desk that I was having a heart attack. He told my wife that he was helping someone else. The woman kindly stepped aside and said go ahead. I was standing there for a few minutes and he didn't seem to care. I was in bad shape with severe chest pains , pain running my entire left arm and both shoulder blades. I ended up taking a seat and after several he came out from behind the desk and was walking by. I asked him if I was going to get help or if I was going to die here. The JERK told me to dial 911. Once I got back to emergency I told them my nitro was out of date I had taken two and if I could get one. I had a second time. 3 hours later the nurse saw i was suppose the be given nitro At that point I told her not to bother. I'm probably going to run out of room but it didn't get better. read more

My 82 y/o Dad was taken to Lakeside ER by rescue squad. He was being seen for weakness, falls and had tested positive for covid earlier that week. He came in at 2 pm. My sister and I never saw the ER Dr. or nurse in the 5 hours we waited in the waiting room. The waiting room receptionist staff repeatedly tried to have someone come inform us of the status of my Dad and no one ever came. The receptionist called back again at 7 pm and they told her he was going upstairs to be admitted. Again no one took 5 min to come update us on his status or what the plan was. Very poor communication. The other issue was in the 5 hours we sat waiting to talk with the Dr. or nurse we never saw any cleaning of high touch surfaces with disinfectant wipes. I work in a physicians office and the lobby is wiped down hourly due to high covid numbers. We also witnessed a young lady that was possibly having a miscarriage and had visible blood on her pants and holding a towel to the area. She was told to sit in a chair until someone could come get her. I never saw that chair cleaned by anyone. I felt bad she was not given some immediate privacy in a triage room away from everyone in the waiting room. They need to have some immediate cleaning policy in place to keep the waiting room safe. Hemorrhaging patients need to be immediately triaged. Need dedicated staff to do this. Front desk staff should not be triaging. If we have other options for my family in the future we will go to another ER. People are scared and need reassurance their family members are okay. Especially if they have covid. read more

I was recently at Lakeside hospital in Omaha for a severe anxiety attack just after midnight.. The attending doctor was Dr Anke Horacek.. All I can say is that this is one of the worst doctors I have ever come across. She was extremely short with me, almost seemed agitated before we even started talking. She addressed NONE of the symptoms I was having and overall it made me feel much worse than before I even came in! She then left and said she would be right back with my discharge papers. except she didn't come back.. After a long time I finally walked out of the door and up to the nurses station only to see DR. Horacek talking to another employee where the nurse grabbed my papers right by her off a table.. If you see Dr. anke Horacek on your rooms board as the doctor of that care team, ask for another doctor! I also found another negative review about her in Lincoln at CHI health, so it isn't just me!
