What started as a casual skate night turned into an unplanned audition for "Worst Fall of the Year." Spoiler: I nailed it. So off I went to Nebraska Medicine Bellevue ER, wrist in pain and dignity slightly bruised. From check-in to cast, I was in and out in under two hours--yes, TWO hours. I've waited longer for brunch. The staff was incredibly professional, warm, and genuinely funny. We even shared a few laughs about my skating mishap (because hey, if you can't laugh at yourself while getting X-rays, when can you?). I got triaged, X-rayed, casted, and sent on my way with a smile--and a very stylish hard cast. The quality of care was top-notch--thorough, efficient, and delivered with kindness and humor. Every single person I encountered made me feel seen, heard, and well taken care of. I've never had such a smooth, friendly ER experience. Seriously impressed. I really do love this hospital and urgent care. I have probably been here about six times and had to wait twice to get into a room. Those two times my wait was about 45 minutes to an hour. The rest of the time I was brought in right away. The staff and nurses are very nice, friendly, and do what they can to make you comfortable and at ease. I have a very complicated medical history 20 years long. The doctors take their time to listen and help as best as they can. I am very thankful to have such a great hospital within 10 minutes of my house. Now I will talk about why I love this hospital so much. I've seen a lot of the other peoples reviews and let me tell you the wait here, even if it's three hours is not too bad. I had to wait at n different hospitals in Southern California for 6-18 hours. Most of the hospitals in Southern California have wait times with a minimum of five hours. Urgent care was usually the same too. That is the reason I am very thankful for this hospital. read more

I brought my son to this location for the emergency room/surgeon on hand because we were afraid his appendix had ruptured. We checked in, went to triage, and was in a room within 10 minutes of arrival. All of the nursing staff, the doctor, and the CT tech were super friendly. I think we had come in at a good time because they seem to be getting full as we were leaving. They checked in on my son frequently while waiting on test results. They were great to explain everything as well. read more

When I was laid up at this hospital, I had a nice view out of my window of a church with a bell tower. It was a Bellevue, you could say. This is a pretty fancy hospital up in Bellevue and it looks brand new and is nice on the inside and the outside. People in here were friendly, and although I personally didn't have a procedure here, I was accompanying somebody else that had to have a check-up with the doctor not long after a surgery, so I felt like I was a patient, and they would have treated me pretty well as they did her, I'm sure. Getting in and out was fine. Same with your mother last night. read more

Horrible patient safety, quality, and experience at this hospital! Service failure, after service failure, after service failure! Nursing stations are practically non-existent because there is either no one on duty or you can't locate them and they are all lacking core competencies of bedside nursing!! I have no idea how this hospital is able to remain open with it's EXTREMELY POOR PERFORMANCE in every department from Admissions, to nursing care, to administrative departments, food and nutrition (just to name of few)!! A local physician even made the statement that "this is where all the misfit patients go!" I would highly advise that you RUN....don't walk, if you are ever considering care at this hospital!! Worst hospital in the Midwest. They treat everybody like s**t, starting the minute you walk in the door. Security immediately treats you like a criminal as you go through the metal detectors. (Which I'm sure are in place due to the number of families this place has f**ked over). The cashiers for the emergency room talk down to you like you're mentally handicapped. Once you're finally in the exam room (which hasn't been swept or mopped in months, pretty sure some of the spots on the floor were dried blood.), you wait for hours while several nurses come in and try to upsell your visit. Here for a cold? Let's run a full panel of bloodwork and get some Xrays, you know what? Let's run an EKG and maybe stick you in an MRI if we can talk you into it. Quality of care is dogs**t. If you value being treated like a human and not a wallet, go elsewhere! This hospital should be condemned. read more

Would not recommend coming here. My significant other threw her back out, so we took her to the ER. We waited over 2 hours to get back, which in itself wasn't an issue, but the pain was worse when sitting and standing and they didn't seem to care. In the total of 5 hours, she got a shot that didn't help but no one came to check in after another hour, so we left AMA. This hospital has a bad reputation, and now I understand. I had a diabetic emergency after having a seizure. We came to the ER and sat in the waiting room for 45 mins before seeing a doctor. We told them I didn't have insulin on my person due to my insulin site getting ripped out during the seizure. Once we were in a room, my blood sugar started skyrocketing and they knew it was. Still no insulin was administered. After being there for four hours my blood sugar rose to over 350 and they decided to let me leave without giving me insulin to make sure I didn't have to come back again and be in keto-acidosis. I went in for an emergency and left almost worse than the condition I came in. I highly recommend making the drive to the med center over this terrible hospital. My family is considering suing this establishment for the lack of competence and endangerment. read more

I needed to go here for emergency services and regular check-ups while on travel to Omaha and they provide really good care. When I went to the ER for internal bleeding and it was slow but, I think that's normal. Why because not everyone in the ER needs to be there. They should have saw their normal doctor during normal business hours. Rant over. I also went for follow up care at the medical center. I went early to register, once that was done I waited to see the doctor. Less than 5 minutes later I was called to the exam room and a few minutes later the doctor was there. I was actually done with my exam before my scheduled appointment time. Oh and they have free wifi, tv's and in some of the waiting rooms computers, coffee and news papers. If you want to be treated like nobody cares..come to this hospital. NO common sense and just plain DO NOT CARE what they are doing. These nurses literally come to collect a paycheck and you will receive sub par service at best but I am sure the bill will be plenty padded. They will give you wrong meds, wrong dosages, leave a bed bound patient with no nurse call light and when you bring it up they don't apologize they will just give you an excuse. The DR himself was FANTASTIC and the rest of the staff needs to literally go back to college, I think they give a nursing degree to just about anyone nowadays. Arrived with my wife at 5:30 pm because she was having some chest palpitations. They got her checked right in and in 20 minutes did a EKG. All good to that point. Then waited in the waiting area till almost 7 before they took her to the ER room. Once here we see a single staff member about once an hour like they forgot us. They did a CT 2 hours ago then tell us it takes about 45 minutes to read. Ok, what about the other hour and 15 minutes to get someone in to tell us what it says. This place is ridiculous. Saw one guy stomp out because he had been waiting for 4 hours he said as he stormed by. Another lady and her husband left the waiting room to go home even though you could see she was in pain, because no one would listen to her about what the doctor told her when he sent her in. read more

I broke my hand today and went into the emergency room for care. I was denied care because I can not mask. Even after sharing my reasoning. I was told its policy. I was not going to cause more harm to my already panicked body. UNMC and their associates are breaking their do no harm oath. God will judge you accordingltly. I will never be back. This is by far the worst ER I have ever been to. I came in On January 15 for a issue with my Meds. I was sent to Bellevue med for being unresponsive and having rapid heart rate. Upon arrival to the ER, all the nurses kept asking my Fiancee what drugs I had taken. He replied with nothing, that I had only taking my prescribed meds but they kept asking him and pushing him about it. He suffers from severe anxiety and because the situation was already worrisome, adding this on top of it sent him into a panic. I am so displeased with how my family and I were treated here. I made sure to tell everyone not to come here and not to send their loved ones here. It's a horrible hospital with some highly unprofessional staff. read more

On Tuesday the 15th I had an accident. I fell and broke my arm. I did not want to go to Bellevue hospital as I've always had a bad experience but I thought I'd give them another chance. Lisa in the Er has got to be one of the nastiest nurses I have ever met. She wasn't helpful with my needs. She didn't leave me the call light and when I asked for it she threw it at me. She told me not to grab her arm because she didn't want a bad back. Once again she took a bad experience and made it worse. I don't understand why such mean people work at Bellevue. If you have an emergency you are better off staying at home. Doctors, nurses, and support staff find patients annoyances and do the absolutely bare minimum to provide quality care- really any care. I couldn't walk and my husband got me a wheelchair to check in and after barely any examination I was told I could leave. The nurse had me sign a piece of paper and left. I still couldn't walk but limped out on my own using the wall for support. I got no after care instructions, no follow up instructions, nothing. I walked out and left with the same problem I went in with. I am not normally a patient of UNMC due to poor care but it was closest emergency room to my home. Next time I will drive the extra 15 minutes to CHI or simply not go at all. Pathetic medical care. So much money wasted on what supposed to be to notch care in Nebraska. read more

ABSOLUTELY enjoyed having my child here. They provided birthing classes, were super supportive of me wanting to have a natural labor. The encouraged me to walk the ward, we were allowed to control several things in the room from lights to the temperature. it was a great birthing experience. I especially liked that they never insisted on taking my child away, I could keep them in the room or go with them when they got basic testing. The ER could provide better services, a long wait is expected, they don't seem to have many resources to help patients out. I wish they had more options when it comes to caring for patients instead of shipping them off to other local hospitals. read more

If you plan on going to the emergency room here just get a butter knife out of your silverware drawer and some rubbing alcohol and take your chances at home. You're better off treating yourself than coming to BMC. They have zero sense of urgency or timeliness. We have been to the ER 3 times in the last few months for various reasons and 2 out of 3 times it's been for relatively minor issues. Don't plan on doing anything else the rest of your day. One example: Brought my Wife here because she was having severe back pain a week after a C-Section. It took them 4 hours to get my wife in a room, give her morphine, take a urine sample, tell her she had a UTI and give her a prescription. There was only about 3 other ppl in the ER as well. Turns out a week later when we went back to the ER for the same reason she had an infection and an abscess from the C-Section that was causing her back pain and not a UTI. As a whole the hospital here is great, but this rating in particular is for one specific dr. I have now had 2 appointments with Dr. Odell, both were a waste of time. On my first visit I explained what was going on and the reason for my appointment (severe TMJ). He told me to take Tylenol and naproxen and to come back in a month. He also said to see a dentist. During the time between then and my dentist appointment the pain became unbearable and I called him to see if he could prescribe a stronger pain reliever as I was unable to get into the dentist for another month. He lectured me on why he doesn't believe anyone should take them and and reluctantly prescribed me Medicine and said "this is only enough to for until your dentist appointment." He prescribed me the medicine with the instructions to take 1 every 6 hours, however he only prescribed 15 pills which is enough for approximately 3.5 days. This meant I still had 3.5 weeks for my dentist appointment with no relief. At my follow up appointment with him I expressed that my pain was getting worse and I was unable to eat most foods. He again stated he doesn't like prescribing stronger pain medication and that I should just avoid hard to eat foods. We also addressed another medical issue I have. I explained why my previous doctor had changed my medicine as it was making my condition worse. During the entire appointment he kept look at his pager and phone, didn't acknowledge anything I said, and then said simply said he will change me to a different medicine for the issue. The medicine he changed me? THE SAME ONE THAT MAKES ME SICKER! As he was leaving he gave me a dirty look and proceeded to scolded me for letting me 6 year old autistic son play a game on his tablet. You couldn't pay me enough to go back to this horrible man. read more

I can't say enough great things about Bellevue Medical Center. The facility is amazing and so are the staff. I came here to have my sinus surgery done, which coincidentally, was the first time I ever needed to be in the hospital for more than a visit. The staff were wonderful and I felt right at home. There is absolutely nothing they could have done to make me feel more at ease or well taken care of. I would highly recommend Bellevue Medical Center for procedures or exams. read more

Had a emergency csection here (placenta rupture). I knew what was happening because it happened with my first baby (this was my 4th) then this 'resident DR' comes in to check if I was dialated.. (I never dialate) He couldn't even locate my cervix and I felt molested! I swear his intentions where not good. Pervert!! Never again. I'd rather die and suffer than be here again. This resident dr was getting a obgyn and he can't even find my cervix.. Then after my operation I woke up in miserable pain. Pain I cannot describe. Imagine getting woken up from anesthesia and having severe abdominal pain. It felt terrible. I cried in the bed for a good twenty min until they 'ordered' my pain meds. They gave me a morphine pump. Then I was so doped up I wanted the baby to stay in the nursery. Ha guess what? They do not have a nursery. So in this case, I just had open stomach surgery and they don't have a nursery to help out mothers. Then when a resident was checking my staples, these two men walk in to see what I wanted to eat. No knock, or even a phone call. They just walked in casually. I will never go here again! How rude'. At least they got a one star because, both myself and baby where ok (besides the pain) read more

Beautiful, quiet, wonderfully staffed AWESOME hospital!! I couldn't have had my baby at a better hospital!!! I also had to go to the ER once & was in & out in less than an hour. HIGHLY recommend! Wonderful, polite staff. I felt like I was staying in a hotel. The ONLY thing I will say is they should replace their ceiling fans with three settings! Mild was too weak and high was SUPER SONIC speed! I was afraid baby would be too cold on highest but I was sweating after all the labor on mild. Other than that, this hospital is amazing! read more

NOT impressed at ALL! Our young Son had unbearable ear pain late one evening. Unfortunately our Pediatrician's office was closed. ER was not busy. In fact, we were the only family in the waiting room. Registration took FOREVER, the ex-military receptionist took his sweet time entering demographics, insurance info., etc. My toddler was screaming with pain!!! I too, work in the healthcare field and was appalled how unprofessional the staff was. No one was in a hurry whatsoever. I was shocked how long it took just to be seen by a PA? Not even an actual physician. Staff was just "hanging-out" around the nurse's station. We were there for 3 hours!!! Needless to say, I will NEVER return to this hospital. I had to pay $750 out of pocket for my Son to see a PA. Never again. read more

Had a bad experience giving birth here back in Oct 2011. Midwives were so rude and I tried breast feeding but after 24 hours of it not working they refused to let me give her formula and told me to "go to sleep" there was no nursery so no time to rest after a long and painful delivery. The nurse I had was nice the first night before labor really started but after that it was awful and now I'm pregnant again and refuse to go back. The rooms were nice the TV and tub were big.
