Lots of the most popular varieties (like honeycrisp) were pretty picked over, but we still found more apples than we wanted to carry, and our kids mostly had fun running in giant loops around the farm. It was sunny and lovely and great to be outside. There's not a lot more to it than that. I gather it's now popular for apple picking orchards to have roller coasters or petting zoos, and I have no idea why. They don't have those things here. They have a tractor that will take you in a circle around the property, and they sell hot, freshly-fried apple cider donuts that are really great -- they tasted more like apple cider than any cider donut I've eaten. By the time we got home, our son was asking when we could go back. We plan to make it a yearly tradition.

After a short tractor ride to the fields, we started with the raspberries and were able to fill our container in about 20 minutes. We then moved on to the strawberry fields. After spending an hour and a half in blistering heat, I was only able to fill about one-quarter of the container because there were virtually no strawberries available. Everyone picking alongside us seemed equally disappointed and frustrated that containers were being sold despite the lack of fruit in the fields. What made the experience even more frustrating was the no-refund policy, which meant we were out the money regardless of the poor conditions. I understand that crop availability can vary, but customers should be informed when fields are nearly picked over or offered a refund or alternative. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this place to others.

Very therapeutic on a Saturday morning. The sounds of the highway fad s away as my husband and I…read moremethodically picked 4 lbs in early August. The picking season ends around Aug 10. It starts in July. Short window. The blueberries get spayed in spring and then no more. Wear big repellent if you are sensitive but there were very few bugs and an occasional bee. The woman who runs and owns the farm was very informative. Good honest farming at its best. They have three varieties of blueberry bush. Highly recommend you leave the earbuds at home and enjoy the zen of picking blueberries. They only cost about $2.35 a lb and I can't wait to make a pie. My secret is lemon juice and a little nutmeg. Omg, what a deal! We used to go to The Blueberry Patch (which has since closed and sold the land)…read more But Mike's is so much closer to the center of town if you stay in New Buffalo. We picked 8 pounds for less than $20!!! They really could charge double and people would still pay. We don't get the experience of picking our own fruit in major metropolitan areas so the experience is all part of the fun. There are tons of bushes, we wanted to go back on Monday before leaving town but it's their closed day.

My mom had been to Blueberries of Indiana the year before and recommended it. Great! Both kids had SO much fun and we walked out of there with almost 12 lbs of blueberries at $1.50 per lb. Score! It was mid July and there were still plenty of blueberries on the bushes. You had to get in there and search for the big berries but there were tons. The woman working there was super nice and friendly. There's a few picnic tables if you want to bring a lunch to take a break. The only bathroom facilities are a few port-a-potties but they we're clean. We are going to make this an annual family trip!

A great experience and great value…read more The pricing for unpick is less than what you'd generally pay for blueberries at the grocery store. That's a winner in itself. The property is expensive and the staff was welcoming and told us where to go for the best batch at that time. Not all berries ripen at the same time. I went the weekend of July 4th and it was rather tame around 9am when I arrived. (No queue). But after finishing the pick, it was quite long queue as they weigh. Credit card is extra 3% fee. If you bring your own container to bring home it'll be cheaper as you use their white buckets to pick and weigh, but you need a container to take home. They do sell 5lb and 10lb boxes to take home for a nominal fee (I think it was $1-2)
