A great experience and great value. The pricing for unpick is less than what you'd generally pay for blueberries at the grocery store. That's a winner in itself. The property is expensive and the staff was welcoming and told us where to go for the best batch at that time. Not all berries ripen at the same time. I went the weekend of July 4th and it was rather tame around 9am when I arrived. (No queue). But after finishing the pick, it was quite long queue as they weigh. Credit card is extra 3% fee. If you bring your own container to bring home it'll be cheaper as you use their white buckets to pick and weigh, but you need a container to take home. They do sell 5lb and 10lb boxes to take home for a nominal fee (I think it was $1-2) read more

This is a great place to come and pick blueberries. No frills and just simply picking blueberries. There is a small stand where they give you buckets and then also where you come back and pay for the blueberries once picked. There are rows and rows of blueberry bushes to pick from. This place is great. Huge fields of blueberries and a straightforward process. Grab a bucket and pick as long as you want. Then bring the bucket to be weighed and pay. The employees were friendly. There's no real gift shop or playground or anything else. It's just a straight-up blueberry farm. I appreciated that they were open on Sundays, since most blueberry farms aren't. My mother is in hospice, which means I'm tethered to my home because she requires 24/7 care. She has been craving local blueberries, which are superior to store bought berries, and I asked if they could help me. They do not offer a delivery service, but under these severe circumstances, they delivered a box to us. I only live about 7 minutes, but Dean and his son Owen got me the berries and I am forever grateful. These berries were so delicious that we finished off 4 pounds in three days, and it means so much to my mother and I. We've been coming here for years for the you pick blueberries. Only around $2 per pound that you pick. The family that owns it is very friendly and will help let you know where to pick. Excellent blueberries- way better than the store and cheaper too. They do have ready picked, along with honey, jam, and other items at their shed. Picnic tables are also available to rest or eat. It can get busy, so I suggest getting there early. read more

This place was a nice find. Many blueberry farms experienced losses with frost so we had to deviate from the usual spot. What I liked was how relaxed the people were, not to mention how friendly they were. Many places are like nazis when you are picking blueberries but they told us which bushes were where and then let us have at it. This just made it so much more fun knowing no one is hovering over you to ensure every bush had every berry picked from it. The reality is that not all bushes are equal. The blueberries were outstanding and it made for a nice, memorable afternoon despite (or in spite) of the 100 degree weather! read more

We went to Stateline Blueberries after some fun with the littles at the Hesston train museum just up the road. Since the first farm on the road gets more travelers, we went here instead. Full bushes with plenty of berries. Every single person we interacted with was kind and smiley. They told us the best picking spot when we asked. It was a lot of fun. By twin 6 year olds helped hubby and I pick about 2.5 lbs in 30 minutes!!!! And they were eating more than they dropped in the bucket. I wish I could share a pic here. Blueberry fritters tonight! What a great place!! This u-pick blueberry farm is located just off of I-94 right at the border of Indiana and Michigan - less than 90 minutes from downtown. We went on a Saturday morning and while it was crowded (parking lot full of Illinois plates), you barely even noticed the other people while out in the fields picking. I went with 2 friends and we each got about 12 pounds of blueberries. At $1.50 a pound, what a steal!! I'm freezing them so that I'll have fresh blueberries all winter. What a treat!! Doesn't need all the bells and whistles. These blueberries rival the ones we get from Michigan. Loved them! Thankfully, they happened to be on our way home from a day trip. A bit pricier than some of the blueberry farms we've been to but not so high that it was off-putting. Went picking here, had a blast! First off there is a sign that says "This is a working farm, use common sense!" --- EXACTLY! So anyways, thought that was funny. We got directed to park by one of the kids, got 2 buckets and got to pickin! Before we knew it we had 2 1/2 full buckets and we decided to stop thinking when are we ever going to eat this many blueberries? Anyway, we ended up with like 3 pounds, they are like $1.75 per pound, what an awesome deal! They had a ton of berries and you didn't have to go far, they have sweet & tart and you can eat as you pick. There are other blueberry farms around and on the way to this one, I haven't been to others but I like the blueberries I got here and the price, so I would go back and skip the other places!!!! read more

I loved Stateline Blueberries. I've been coming here for about 10 years. IT has become a summer tradition. Because of the heat in recent weeks, and due to upcoming schedules, I decided to take a day off work (unpaid) to trek the 100 miles to pick blueberries for the year. When I arrived, we were told that the only picking what across the road and the picking was slim. True enough, when we arrived at the bushes (not as well kept as in the main orchard), the only berries were about a week or two away from being ripe. Other people we saw has only a few berries in the bottom of their pails. We left without any berries hoping to visit one of the competing orchards. Unfortunately, they were all closed due to "field maintenance." My biggest problem is not the condition of the picking (spraying, over-picked from days before), that happens. What enrages me is that they use their Facebook page as a communication tool. Yet they never communicated the state of picking. All they ever say is "open 7 days a week, picking rain or shine." Unfortunately, I will never return to this particular orchard. read more

Pick your own for 1.50 a lb or buy pre picked for 2.25 a lb. Get there early if you want prepicked it is all done by hand. I just put in an order for 30lbs next week so I can do some canning. We stopped here on a trip home from New Buffalo. My two children and husband all got in on the blueberry picking action. We left with 5# of really great blueberries for a little over $10, which included a nice sturdy box for the blueberries. We froze half of them and ate the other half right away. FUN OUTING WITH THE KIDS! We love this place! We like to BRING FREEZE POPS and a picnic for the kids and then pick for a bit. My kids love it but last 1/2 to 1 hour and are ready to go. The Freeze pops are the reward for good picking! The kids love to play with the water pump to cool off and the people that work there are nice enough to let them. The last time we went the bushes were pretty overgrown with weeds and the guy told me it's because they don't want to use herbicides and it's 30 acres so weeding by hand is a bit much! Thinking I'll bring my clippers next time to pull out some of the pesky vines to get to those great berries hiding behind them! and was told management would like me for it... hope that is true! Always amazed at how beautiful the berries look on the bushes! read more

7/8/12 - We were just there yesterday picking. It was hotter that heck but the berries were sweet and plenty of them! Didn't matter if they were big ones or smaller berries, they were all very good. If it wasn't so hot, I would have stayed longer and picked more. We ended up with 19.5lbs and plan to go back again early next Saturday for more. It's nice to pick at a place where the rows are a little wider and you don't have to have long pants and long sleeve shirts on just to keep from being attacked by all the stickers on the blackberry bushes. Although there are some blackberry bushes mixed in with the bluberries, you can still where shorts and work around them. The other thing I like is that they have lightweight plastic pails you can use to pick. They even have some plastic cups and thin nylon ropes to hang from your neck to assist with your picking. When you're done picking, you go to the shed and pick one of several lines to wait to have your berries weighed. I've never had more than three people ahead of me in line. You have the option to use your own containers, or purchase nice cardboard boxes to transport your berries back home. (I like the boxes, they are worth it). The other thing that I like is that you can pick anywhere in the fields that you choose. They basically give you a pail and tell you to go anywhere you want to pick. I think they have something like 30 acres of blueberries and several varieties. There is a blueberry farm closer to where we live, but I hate how they run their business. They aren't open on Sundays. They make you wait on benches until they are ready to cart you off to the berry bushes and then they dictate when and where you go to pick berries. People are shoulder to shoulder trying to pick berries and the rows of bushes are so close together that you have to fight your way through raspberry and blackberry sticker covered bushes that are all tangled in with the bluberries you want to pick. On a hot day, dressing the way you have to in order to keep from getting torn up by the stickers or poison ivy rubbed all over, you feel like you could pass out. On top of that, they use heavy galvanized pails with a white plastic bag lining them and when they are full, they cut into your hand as you walk back to the end of the long, overgrown row and wait again for the tractor and wagon to come by and haul you back to the barn where you stand in long lines zigzagging back and forth waiting to have your berries weighed so you can pay and leave. They only had two scales and two registers set up for you to checkout! After taking 3 hours just to get 3/4 of a pail of berries, I then had to wait over and hour in line to pay. I would have just left if I hadn't worked so hard to get the little berries! (I think that's how they get the berries to sell). That's just crazy! It's a wonder anybody even goes there to pick on a Saturday. A friend of mine took her sister and her mother later that same day and waited even longer than that! She had to walk a good quarter of a mile back to get their van to come pick up their mother and wait in the van with the air conditioner running. (Her Mom was a cancer patient who was feeling ill from the heat and too much standing. The farm ran out of the bottled water they were selling). It's a wonder nobody died. Parking is always a pain there. I felt sorry for all the people bringing their little kids to introduce them to blueberry picking and take pictures for their photo albums. They got a rude awakening. It's a terrible place for small children, babies, strollers, handicapped or elderly people! For anyone who has had a bad experience like that, I highly recommend Stateline Blueberries. read more

I was so disappointed. I heard about this place from a friend. I watched their Facebook page. They seemed to be very personable on their fb page. I saw pics from them of nickel and quarter sized berries. I was saddened to get there to find very very small berries! I asked staff which direction good berries were and what was best picking. I got a casual reply of "the bushes are behind us" and she walked away. While picking I did try a couple of berries. Honestly, nothing to write home about. Just ok. I made a special trip from Illinois and am sorry I did. I could have picked at our local berry Farm. Just thought this would be a good overnite getaway. I would NOT return to stateline blueberries. Please know their Web page and fb page were saying how they had sooo many good berries for oicking. I was NOT visiting at the end of the season, but rather in what they said was the height of their season. Had intended on spending all day and picking 20 lbs or so. I picked a little less than 5 lbs.
