This is such a cute, fun place. They do have a patio if you prefer to sit outside. The staff was very friendly, fun, and helpful. Great service! We ordered a pizza and an appetizer and it was fantastic. I ordered a blush wine and it was very good. They play Singo every Sunday, which I have never played before. It was entertaining and fun. We had the spinach and artichoke pizza which has a garlic & lemon aioli base, red onions & topped with drizzled mozzarella on a thin, crisp crust. Yum! (And, good news: half pizzas are available. This is such a nice winery! We stopped in on our way to Michigan City. They are very dog friendly and gave our lab a water dish and cup of whipped cream when we walked in the door. Willow is so sweet! The wine is excellent and I love the decor. Highly recommend! read more

Came in for a wine tasting and ended up staying for a late lunch. I wasn't hungry when I walked in so I intended to just do a tasting. Amanda was great with her recommendations and I enjoyed all of the wines, especially the Hank's Comet. The food looked so good that I ended up at a table to order food. I had the cheese pizza with a glass of the Cab Sauv. Both were delicious. The server was friendly without being overbearing. Cute winery in a convenient location. Went here after hiking at the dunes. We had the sweetest waitress Colette, who was able to guide us when ordering. I got the dry flight, and really liked the wine. My boyfriend got the varietal, and liked most of them. We got the pesto goat cheese spread and it was amazing. I could have just eaten 2 orders of that! We also got the pear and prosciutto pizza. It was good, but the prosciutto was not what I was expecting. It was small hunks, more like diced pancetta, then long shaved strips of prosciutto you typically get. Overall, had a wonderful time, drank lots of good wine, and got a bottle to go. Will definitely be back again. read more

Running vines is located on the corner of the street and easy to find. The inside is cute and clean. Being at a winery, I of course had to get a glass. I opted for their dry Sauvignon blanc and honestly I wouldn't get it again. I usually like all Sauvignon Blancs but this one seemed off and didn't taste like Sauvignon blanc at all. For food we started with the goat cheese and pesto spread. Yummm! This was definitely our favorite of what we got. The bread that comes with is crisp and flavorful and comes with a fair amount. We also each got a small pizza. I did the prosciutto and pear, which was okay. When I think prosciutto I think the thin slices and this is not the case here, which I would have preferred. It's little cube pieces. My boyfriend got the pepperoni and didn't love but didn't hate. Our server was friendly and timely. I'd come back, but get a salad instead of pizza. Do ya like *sweet* wines? Then you'd love to partake in a $6 tasting at Running Vines. My friend and I did one recently and were pleased with our experience. We were given a menu and marked six of the wines we wanted to taste (including the wine slushie). Once we handed it over to our server, she brought over a glass and poured our selected wine into it, describing the tasting notes. When our glass was empty, she would come back over and refill our glass with the other wines we chose. When finished, you are gifted with a Running Vines wine glass, which I thought was a nice touch. If you're traveling up I-94 towards Detroit, get off at the Valpo, Chesterton exit and stop by this place. I really didn't know much about this place before visiting. A search through Google showed me this place. The owner is a runner (1 plus), it's 40 mins travel time from me (2 plus), they have wines called sprint, half marathon, marathon and triathlon (3 plus), it's a vegan restaurant right up the street (time to go!) So Running Vines was the choice for my girl and I to visit on a Saturday evening. Pleasantly surprised is not accurate enough to describe the experience we had last night. The visit was so amazing we ended up joining the wine club. Chris was an excellent sommelier! He asked what our preference was as far as taste and proceeded to describe each choice in such detail that I was able to visualize the process in my head. My favorites were the ale infused with watermelon called summer and triathlon. (I really liked marathon as well too!) They also had live music and it was great. Dan Reisen had his guitar and was singing some great songs. They also have a back patio and allow smoking out there. Me and my girlfriends had the patio to ourselves and was able to enjoy some good cigars and great wine. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place on Google, we will definitely be back! read more

Lovely new location. The historic preservation is nicely done! The wine is very good and there is a decent selection. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I hesitate to say anything negative since they are fairly new. All I will say is that the food menu sounds promising, but needs some tweaking. The antipasto tray had a good selection, but portion size was very sparse. Barely enough crackers to cover the few pieces of cheese and even less meat. For the price point, it was not worth the cost. I am comparing to competitive charcuterie boards along the wine trail from Indiana up through Harbor Country in MI. That being said, we'll continue to frequent this establishment and can't wait until warmer weather to experience the outdoor patio. read more

Love this place!! The wine is very good and the blackberry, although seasonal, is extremely delicious and just sweet enough without being too sweet. I also recommend the triathlon wine, which is also a sweet wine. I also went there for The Office trivia and had a blast! And I love that their sister winery is located downtown valparaiso (aftermath winery and cidery), only 3 blocks away from where we live! Both places are wonderful and I would recommend both. read more
