My son and I went over to Lakeside motors this morning to look at a 2014 Ford Explorer. The gentleman that we met was very courteous and had a great attitude. Another gentleman behind the computer identified himself as the owner and said he was there for 30 years. I told him the only reason I was there is because I found him on yelp and your customers love you. He smiled, and said "hey, we try to do our best. You know it's a car business it's tough, but we try to do our best."! I think that's all we can expect is someone's best. The salesman was a very nice gentleman who let us look at the car without interrupting or acting condescending, etc. He recognized I had a small amount of mechanical aptitude and did not belittle me or put me down because I was trying to do a little due diligence on count of my 17 1/2 year-old son. We took the vehicle for a ride and came back. We said we had to take a drive and talk about it. He said, "why don't you take this car for another drive and talk about it"? which I thought was pretty great. We took another drive in the car and we came back and made a great deal! I didn't beat them up and they did not beat me up. It felt really good to do a good old-fashioned deal. The handshake , well it was great, I know that sounds corny and a little ridiculous but if you come here, I'm sure you'll experience the same thing. We haven't picked the car up yet. I was traveling from NH back to NJ just a few days before X-mas when my engine light went on and my van started shaking and stalling. I pulled off 495 and drove to the nearest garage/auto repair I could find.... Lakeside Motors in Haverhill. I just walked in helpless and very nervous and Dan from LM immediately got up and took a look at my car. He checked under hood and did a diagnostic and made sure it was safe for me to drive the rest of the way home. I don't live here but if I did - I would be a forever customer. The shop is well maintained/friendly and Dan was so willing to help and refused to take payment. If you're reading reviews - stop here - cuz Lakeside Motors is where you should go! read more

This place is great. The guys here are friendly and very honest, my bf & his fam have gone here for years. We are always contacted prior to work being done if it'll be expensive and they always tell you exactly what you'll be charged for, there are never any surprises. They try to replace whatever is broken with previously used parts to keep the cost down, which has been beyond helpful with our bank accounts. They prefer if you make appointments, however if your car breaks down and you have to tow it there that is fine, I've done it many times. They even have Saturday hours (usually by appointment), but they make exceptions. For example the window of my Jetta recently got stuck down on a cold Friday night and they fixed it first thing Saturday morning, it was very last minute but they basically saved my life. They get 5 stars for that alone. One other note: they are great with Volkswagens. my prior mechanic openly hated that I bought a VW.. he only liked fixing american made.. can't say I miss him now that I can compare him to Lakeside. read more

We have used Lakeside Motors for all of our cars over the past 15 years and we have never had an issue with their service or support. They have serviced our Ford E350 passenger van very well, identifying the root issues with coils, universal joints and the like. Even when we came in stating that we thought it was an expensive X repair need, they would diagnose the problem and never up the charges to meet my incorrect idea, but charge the lower repair price. With repect to customer service, I have never been more satisfied. They are always polite and professional to us, and my wife has never felt intimidted or disrespected going into a shop to get a car repair. they have also done well in repairing my son's 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T. My only regret is that in my moving to Colorado, it will be difficult to find such competent and friendly mechanics to service my cars. read more

Great place! I was referred to Lakeside by a friend and was more than pleased. Not only did they fix my car extremely quick but the cost was extremely reasonable. I called them on a Tuesday for issues with my heat and I picked up my car Wednesday night ! Ahh to have heat again. thanks again everyone at Lakeside. I recently bought a vehicle at lakeside motors and it has honestly been the most aggravating experiences in my life. The "Mechanics" there basically duct tape cars together to get them to make it past the 30 day warranty. I do not trust the mechanics there with my families safety. If you don't believe me, just spend twenty minutes there and see how many people are there trying to get their vehicles fixed that they had just purchased. read more

I have taken my car to Lakeside Motors for several years and I wouldn't take it anywhere else for repairs. Twice I took my car to Honda of Boston in Everett for normal servicing (oil changes, etc.) and walked out with a laundry list of "urgent" repairs needed. The last laundry list would have cost me $3,100. Lakeside reviewed Honda's list, looked at my car and found that most expensive of the items on their list were not even necessary. What did need to be repaired cost me $880. Lakeside saved me over $2,200! They are honest, professional, and reasonable in price, That, to me, is priceless! read more

Friendly, very experienced guys. I have great trust in the team here. They have always been up front with possible problems with my cars. Most recently they helped me get a check engine light off by troubleshooting the problem - a catalytic converter (this was the third one installed-the first 2 at another place - were the wrong size). This was needed to get an inspection sticker. They went over the top on this one - trying other alternatives first knowing that the converter was costly and the car has high miles so they were trying do it as inexpensively as possible. I really appreciated the extra work they did even knowing that I would probably end up replacing the converter anyway. They were always willing to pick me up or drop me off at home - a nice convenience today. They are the "go to place" when I know it will be a difficult job and a good place to go for the routine stuff too. I would recommend them to anyone! Terry B. read more

These guys are AWESOME! I used to deal with their competition by default. My parents used them, therefore I used them. That is until the regular shop couldn't figure out what was wrong with my father's car. He took it here, & they had the problem diagnosed & repaired in hours. My car broke down yesterday (as it had before). I called Lakeside, & they said to have it towed there. The last time this happened. The other shop in Plaistow diagnosed it as a $1000 computer part. I was suspicious, due to other work they had done for me in the past. This time (and last time, I think) the problem was a fuel injector fuse. The guys at Lakeside fixed that, & my hood latch for about $100! They even gave me an extra fuse & showed me how to install it in case it happens again. They are good, honest people. I'm gonna send everyone with a problem to them from now on. If you're not happy with your mechanic, give these guys a shot. read more
