Trombly Bros. is the best car repair shop that I have experienced. It's a family-owned business that has been around since 1938. Their mechanics are great, their prices are reasonable, and best of all, they are scrupulously honest. I brought my car in for a brake inspection after riding the emergency brake on the highway for several miles. Mark checked out my car, found that the brakes were fine, and didn't even charge for his time. You won't find that kind of customer service anywhere else, and it's why I have been going to Trombly's for years. You should, too. read more

Today I was involved in a chain reaction car accident on 213. I don't know the name of the gentleman that arrived from Trombly Bros. towing but he was amazing. He instilled a sense of calm to all of us involved in the accident. He clearly informed us what needed to happen to remove our cars and assured us that they would then make sure our cars were towed to the appropriate body shop of our choice. He was calm and clear in his directions which I appreciated so much. Being involved in an accident is unsettling at best and his calm demeanor was a blessing!! He actually stayed throughout the entire process and made sure each of us was in the right place at the right time. He also actually communicated with my body shop for me. This was my second trip to Trombly Bros, and because of the excellent service, I will write another review! I walked in to get my husbands truck inspected, since we just registered it here in Massachusetts, and was extremely pleased with the speed and friendliness of the employees. Mark Trombly has helped me both times and made my visit quick and easy. I asked a few questions and always feel he answers me honestly and informatively. I went for service a few weeks ago and knew I had found my new mechanic! They are excellent at carefully diagnosing (and not rushing to assume issues), explaining any findings without sounding condescending, and not pushing unnecessary services/providing honest input on what is a must do/should do/could do/could wait. The service cost was very reasonable. When I needed some work done late in the day, the whole team jumped on it to get it done fast and help each other get out of there too, which was nice to see. They definitely went above and beyond normal expectations; Mark even left me a message the next day with some more thoughts and advice on a squealing noise my car made - and he was 100% right on what the issue ended up being. I'll definitely go back for all my repair needs; this is just the mechanic I was hoping and looking for and I wish more businesses were like this! read more

Good Quality/Horrible Customer Service-- If you want an enjoyable experience, do not go to Trombly's... If you want to be treated like another sheep in the line, this is your place. The staff at Trombly's is very condescending. I know enough about cars to guess at what is wrong with my vehicle and suggest a best fix, hoping to save everybody some time and money. When I went to Trombly's for the first (and last) time I suggested they look at my fuel pump as the reason my Silverado was bogging down upon ignition and in first gear. Upon my suggestion, the response from the owner of Trombly's was a stern, "Nah it could not be that... how much experience do YOU have under this hood anyway"... he literally laughed in my face... They investigated the problem, charged me several hours for taking up bay-time, and realized it was the fuel pump... I bit my tongue not to scream, "I told you so!" as I paid my bill... They seem to know what they are doing and most people in North Andover speak highly of their abilities (my main reason for going there in the first place), but their attitude towards walk-ins was off-putting. My new go-to is Main Street Auto Service and Sales right down the road... they treat you like part of the family! read more

This is what people mean when they say "old-fashioned service". I've been taking cars to Trombly's for more than a decade, and never had a bad experience. They are very knowledgable, and scrupulously honest. Estimates are unfailingly accurate, and the final bill is usually just a little less than the estimate. Prices are fair, and the work is done well and done on time. Their advice has always been spot-on: they present you with options and make a recommendation, and leave you to make the choice: no high-pressure "advice" like you get at the quicky-lube places and such. If a little thing needs to get done, they notice, and sometimes they don't even charge for it; things like lubricating the hood hinges. If they can't do something, they'll say so, and tell you where to go to get it done. For example, they don't have the machine to read the engine codes from pre-1996 engine computers, but the dealer does. Their inspections on used cars are thorough and reasonably priced. You should call and make an appointment though - they are very busy, and for a good reason. read more

Even though Trombly Bros didn't fix my problem they pointed me in the right direction to go in. They didn't just assume and jump right into it. They tried to pin point the problem but couldn't actually figure out the real reason why my car was doing what it was doing. They are honest people and told me they didn't want to try and fix it and if it went wrong they wouldn't want me to spend money on what they didn't know for sure. Another time I brought my car there I thought I needed an alignment but instead he said I needed 3 new tires that were all the same but I had a hard time spending over $500 on tires right then and there. Mark wrote down all my tire information and said you can price them out some where else but we don't make a profit on tires so it wouldn't really matter where I got them. That was super nice of him to do that. Why wouldn't I go back and get the tires from them when I was ready? I'll be back very soon. Honest good people. read more

I've been going to Tromblys for years and they are great! I love everything about this place. They are always willing to work with me and provide options on fixes. They really help educate me on what is wrong with my car and help me understand my options. Whether it's a simple oil change, inspection or a major fix I always have confidence that Tromblys will take care of me. I had a terrible experience with the Mazda dealership in Lowell when they told me my car looked brand new, and then 3 weeks later I went back for an inspection and they told me I had $7,000 worth of fixed on my car! I took the list to Tromblys and worked with Mark to understand what was real and what was not. He laid out what he thought should be fixed immediately, what could wait, and what was completely made up. I ended up getting it fixed for a couple hundred at Tromblys instead of getting ripped off for 7 grand by the shady Mazda dealer. I highly recommend Tromblys for your car service! read more

Stupid car.... Go back to my review of Colonial Cadillac to find out more. Well a forty five thousand dollar car. (when new) now has 70 thousand on it & would not pass inspection due to a code that shows there's something wrong with the transmission. Please don't buy a Cadillac. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the transmission. Brought it to Trombly Brothers. They took it in fast, fixed the the problem honestly & fast & even drove my car back to my house to pick me up so I could go back & sign the paper work & pay them. They seem honest & genuinely nice. They tow, they do inspections & they have a good size shop there. No complaints. I'll be back. read more

Rescued our big Sprinter van in Andover and towed it all the way to CT. Was very responsive and easy to work with.

I broke down on 495 on my way back from New Hampshire late one afternoon. I am not from the area. The State police sent Trombly to tow my car. The driver, Carlos, was very quick responding and very polite. He drove my car and me back to their garage where I spoke with Mark. I described what happened and he knew what was wrong, I agreed and had them do the repairs. The car was repaired the next day and the price was reasonable. I thought my overall experience with Trombly was very positive. I was not a regular customer, just a guy that broke down passing through but they treated me like a regular customer. read more

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure how or why Trombly's knows that the damage was done prior to towing?! I was with the car when it got towed and on site less than 24hrs later. I did call NAPD and while they did say I could pick up a report, they we a bit puzzled about the report containing any information that would help me regarding this situation. By your response it is obvious that your presence online is more important that dealing with a customer face to face. read more

Got off the phone with these people and they wouldn't offer my brother service because my brother couldn't speak "english"! So I give them a call because I speak fluent english, and once they knew it was me calling to help my brother out, they hung up on me and as I kept calling back, they pretended they couldn't hear me! Best place to ever get your car towed/fixed out of any place I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. You know how it is, every towing company in Boston is literally only interested in ripping you off - but not these guys. I had to drive 40 minutes from Revere to N. Andover in order to get my car, so obviously I was less than thrilled. When I walked in, a very handsome guy greeted me extremely nicely, and immediately got my paperwork started. I didn't have to wait around twiddling my thumbs, and get ready for this bonus: there is no skank lady with Dunkin Donuts talking on her cell phone and ignoring you at the front desk! (thank God!!) Everyone there was super nice and very cordial. One of the main guys (I honestly forget his name but they're all great people) ended up giving me 100$ off because he had quoted me the wrong amount over the phone. Can you believe that!?? I never thought I'd see the day. What's more, I accidentally dropped my temporary license outside, and these guys mailed it to me with a note saying "we found this in the parking lot". Such a good group of people. They seem to be closely affiliated with the police department in N. Andover, and the pee-wee football teams around. If I ever have to tow my car anywhere again, I might shell out the extra cash just to have it towed there. Now THAT says it all right there. read more

Not only did they do great work on my car, but the service was exceptional. There was a discrepancy between the quote I received from one guy and the bill I got from another guy. Mark didn't even ask to see the estimate, he just handed me cash on the spot for the difference. The first guy I spoke to (Skip) also said I had a brake light out but he'd forgotten to write it on the slip so it didn't get done. The guys replaced it on the spot at no charge. So awesome. I just had my oil changed here two days ago. They have Saturday hours which is amazing and hard to find! I asked a lot of silly questions regarding things that needed to be done with my new car. I asked about things that the dealer said were "destroyed". Trombley looked it and said everything is fine. The dealer was trying to rip me off. I totally trust these guys. They were very nice and very patient. They also didn't rotate my tires because they said it wasn't needed... they could have easily done it and charged me for it. Abominable customer service. Went at 4:50 PM to get inspection. Guy said they were closed even though the sign said they were open until 5. Returned next day. Was told to get a number from work bay inspecton station. 'Manager' at station completely ignored me while he fiddled with inspection computer; a mechanic finally noticed me and handed me a number '1' to wait in line. Waited 10 minutes and the truck that was being inspected exited the bay. Ten minutes of watching an empty bay I went into the bay to see what was going on. 'Manager' was still fiddling with the controls on the inspection computer. I asked him if it was broken. He ignored me. I asked that I needed to know if machine was broken because, if it was, I'd go somewhere else. 'Manager' became indignant and asked me to leave. Trombly's seems to operate for their convenience not yours. I went to another place in North Andover, was treated conscientiously and professionally and transaction was complete in 10 mintues. If you value your peace of mind, you can do better in North Andover. read more
