I just had the oil changed in both my cars. Done quickly fair price. When there I mentioned my cruise control stopped working. They used their analyzer and cleared all stored codes and it fixed my problem. No chargeDealers charge $200 to connect an analyzer I asked them for a reference to an upholsterer because my wife lost her hearing aid between the seats, I could not find it and was convinced the seat had to be removed. They offered to try to find it,they looked and looked and wa la they found it. Again no charge, just said glad to help. Quality work, fair prices, honesty and a true focus on customer service. I was back in for a broken flared coupling on my RAM 1500. The dealer wanted 1 hour (at $230/hour) just to LOOK at it if I didnt want to authorize the repair or if not under warranty. I passed. I knew R & D would be able to fix this - likely for less, too. I was right! They cut off the damaged parts and welded a short piece of pipe between them. Done in less thna an hour! I was referred to R&D by a neighbor who does a lot of work on his own cars. He's quite knowledgeable and experienced but uses them for things beyond his capabilities or equipment. I was having transmission troubles with an 8 year old vehicle and brought it to R&D because they seemed to do such work at a good price. Before road testing the car, the mechanic put the car on a lift and checked what seems like everything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He called and let me know of multiple issues that would be coming up with the car that might not make it worth repairing the transmission.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At another shop, I might have paid thousands for the repair I requested now and then more down the line as the other issues popped up. For a $77 fee for the time spent checking the car, I learned it would be best see if I can get a few bucks for it as a trade-in or donate it. It's an ethical shop with expert mechanics. I tend to keep cars for 10 years, so I'll be back with the next one. read more

Great shop, with quick response and service! My 2007 Honda's exhaust had more holes than swiss cheese. The shop I normally go to wanted to charge over $5200 but when I pointed out the car wasn't even worth that much they suggested I bring it over to R&D. I called late in the afternoon and they said they could take me the next morning; I could either drop it off overnight or come in. I left the car overnight, got a call mid morning from Joe who walked me through everything he wanted to do and said it would come out to $475; I had to ask again just to make sure I heard him right. He told me he would get the work done that day and I'd get a call from the office. They called a few hours later and said I could pick up any time. Kind of a long story, but extremely impressed by these guys. They inspected my car, it failed for a wheel bearing. Rick suggested I come in next week, when he had an opening, but I said i couldn't have a rejection sticker for a week. He agreed, said he would stay late that night to open a spot, and take my car the next day. The replacement parts he ordered had an issue, and were returned, causing delay- but you have to appreciate the diligence and respect for quality in repair. That alone would make me want to bring my car in the next time I have an issue. Overall extremely helpful and customer oriented. The price was great, too. read more

Can't say enough good things about these guys. Recently was quoted a price at another shop for $710 for tie rods and a wheel bearing hub. I called R&D up and was quoted at $310 that included labor. Guys are friendly, honest and very cost efficient, on top of all that the work they do is outstanding! I have been going to R&D since I was 16 years old. I've known the owner since I was in high school. They installed an exhaust on my very first car (back when I thought it was cool to have a custom exhaust on a 1994 Toyota Camry, haha). I can't remember exactly how much it was but they took very good care of me. Over 11 years later, I have had them work on every vehicle I've owned since. Ford trucks, a Chevy truck, cars, you name it. They are also OPEN 24/7 for plow repairs when we get heavy snow. They are a genuine Fisher plow and parts supplier, too. Just the past couple winters they've sold me a few pistons, a motor, a cutting edge. In the middle of the night - flat out emergency. They also are great at vehicle diagnostics, even when there's an issue and the check engine light is not on. Truly, bring your car, truck, plow, etc. here and you will not be disappointed. This place seems to have some good reviews. With everything involved in conducting proper business protocol, the outcome of customer satisficaction will always vary case by case. Sometimes it may not be the owners fault, or even the workers, but one bad apple can ruin that in a blink of an eye. I have been to exhaust shops in the area. We dont have much to choose from. The consensus seems to be that it is mostly ruled by Lou's Custom (I have used them before and was not happy). It could be that I'm a little more knowledgable than the average person about welding, piping diameter, what kinds of metals are inferior to the others, etc since I'm an avid car enthusiast. I did play the dumb guy role in the beginning of my experience with the employee though to see how knowledgeable he is. He knew enough to me from my test I gave, so i gave them 3 chances. Although we live in a world full of Google searching, somehow FACTS seem to be lost in translation when money, or ego comes into play though. My first experience was when I called in and a woman picked up the phone. I told her what i needed done and she told me she was going to direct my call to someone who knows better, or hand the phone to them. I didnt even wait 2 seconds and the phone hung up. Still I gave them a chance and walked in on a Friday morning to speak with an actual welder directly. My second experience was with an employee that had a beard, long hair, and piercings. I did not get his name.. He told me he is friends with the owner of the business and has been working for him ever since they first started. I said that it is good to see consistancy with people and left that as a positive note. One thing leads to another and he tells me they're booked up for the times I was available until the following Saturday. I said great, lock me in for it in the morning. He said to come as soon as they open and I did exactly that today only to find out theyre closed on Saturdays (3 strikes!)! I have a busy schedule and this was a waste of time and money for me! Shame on me for getting striked out 3 times by the same business...next time I'll follow my gut. On a positive note, I talked to another guy who was building a full exhaust for a track car that happened to be a Boxster. He seemed to be more friendly and genuine and I dont doubt if I dealt with him in the beginning, I would have had a better experience. Makes me wonder if he heard his coworker telling me to come in on a Saturday (a day they aren't open according to a front desk worker). It is unfortunate that one bad apple can ruin it for the rest of us. I dont know the owner and cant speak for every single person that works here. This was my personal experience with 2 people. The front desk guy is not at fault as he wasnt aware, so no blame could be put on him. I could have provided references for future clients as well as other projects I have going on with cars. If I were the owner of this place, I'd have a one on one with all my employees and tell them to push their lack of self confidence to the side when dealing with customers. However, that may be a touchy subject with a friend that's been working for you since he was a kid.. I would urge future customers to not allow the same guy I dealt with touch their cars. For whatever reason, he thought it was funny to have me come in on a day he knew he was not going to be there. I wasnt rude, or disrespectful, and I own a business locally myself, so I am amazed at the fact that someone would stoop that low for NO reason.. Thanks read more

Big thanks to R & D for getting my turbo miata with a nice sounding exhaust. They were very flexible with getting the car done, and were quick with the turnaround. The exhaust was all stainless and I had a midpipe welded up to my downpipe all the way back to the muffler with a tip welded on the muffler. The car sounds excellent with little drone. Went here today to get my fiance's Nissan Altima's exhaust fixed. I'm unsure who my technician was, but he was AWESOME. He was so knowledgeable, brought me under the vehicle and actually showed me the exhaust and explained without mansplaining what needed to be done. When I came back with further questions, he again was awesome at explaining without mansplaining. He didn't try to push any extra services on me as I've experienced in other establishments. The only downside was that I didn't receive an update on the status until I inquired after a few hours of waiting. The time went fast though, as they have a nice big screen with free wifi. This is for work done about a year ago. My truck was throwing an error code "Check Engine" which I got checked out by Autozone and they said it was a bad OBD2 sensor. Since these guys were local and had decent reviews (I am very skeptical about these types of shops) so I gave them a call and they had me come in to have it checked out. Joe (younger guy) greeted me as he was working on another car and said he would come out to help me as soon as he finished up welding up some pipes on the vehicle on the lift. A few minutes later he came by and did his first check. He noticed that the piping after the first OBD2 sensor somehow created a huge hole right before the resonator which was what was causing the error code. It was pretty tough to see because the hole was covered by a heat shield. Joe was great and said that he could cut out that section and weld new piping in. Did the job. A few months later, my muffler was going bad and it rusted out so that the piping from the muffler to the rear tail pipe came apart. Went back to these guys and worked with Rick (Owner) and Joe again and after consulting with them the muffler was not salvageable so they welded a new muffler on. I asked for certain mufflers and they recommended me against paying for the more expensive ones. Showed me they were very honest. After one year of having the muffler replaced, the welding has come apart. Looks like the rust on the rear tail pipe got worse and loosed up the connection. Called these guys up again and I believe it was Rick on the phone and he was very helpful and told me to come in so that they can take a look at this an another issue I was having. Another check engine light. So far, the 3 experiences I have with these guys have been great. Honest, honest hard working people. Would not hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone needing exhaust help. Thanks guys and looking forward to coming in tomorrow to have things checked out. read more

I brought in my 20 year old car and they tested my fuel pump and told me it was bad. They put in a $500 fuel pump and told me it was fixed. A $500 fuel pump in a 20 year old car ??? Without going over cheaper options. I picked car up and it died on me again forcing me to tow it back. Long story short and $1700 later they found it was a "sensor" and NOT the fuel pump . Exceptional service that also is very fast and friendly. I brought in my HD VROD with a broken heat shield and they were able to customize the broken fasteners to the stock pipe (which the HD dealer of course said couldn't be done and that it needed to be replaced!). Bike looks new and they saved me a ton of money. I don't think they typically do a lot of motorcycle work but they were willing to look at it and do great work. THEN I brought it back a year later (today) when the smaller heat shield also broke and they did that work in no time and didn't even charge me. These are good people that do great work. I needed to get all my brakes replaced on my VW Jetta. I called a few places for quotes and my brother actually told me to check these guys out because his friend works in the shop. I called and the woman at the front desk was very nice and helpful and called me right back with the quote information. It happened to be about $800-1000 less than a few places I had already called so I thought she had made a mistake with the quote! I immediately called back and booked to have the service done, dropped it off on my way to work in the morning and they called me in the early afternoon to pick it up. Stopped in with no appt. and an exhaust leak Dealer wanted over $500 to replace "flanges & pipes" They cut off the rusted flanges, kept the perfectly good pipes and added a sleeve and welded it in place.............too simple $60 and twenty minutes later the car was quiet again & I was on my way read more

My muffler rusted off and another shop was going to have to replace my whole exhaust system because of a hole in the pipe leading to the muffler. I took it to R and D and they fixed it for one fourth the cost the other shop had quoted me, and they did it same day while I waited. Great service and prices! read more

Customer service is fantastic! Everybody was super friendly and knowledgeable and really go above and beyond with their work. They are extremely fair with prices and saved me a ton of money compared to an estimate I got from another shop. The other shop said I needed the control arm and subframe replaced without a doubt. Quoted me $1800 and said it would take a whole week. The gentlemen there told me my car was unsafe to drive (even though I had been driving it just fine for the past week like that) and basically tried to scare me into keeping my car there and paying for the work. At R & D's they looked at my car and showed me what needed to be replaced and said my control arm was actually fine. They said they'd call me back with an estimate, but they called me back with even better news. They went above and beyond and did some research on my Jeep and found out that its still under warranty with Lawless Jeep and it could be fixed by them for FREE! I don't know any other shop that would put their customer first like that. 100% recommend R & D's!! read more
