Lesson learned, and please, always get a receipt. The latest news, I just fired the doctor,(A good doctor is only as good as his staff). This is now the third good doctor I have fired because of staff problems. That's life. I stopped at The Vision Shop sometime in the month of September. I ordered a pair of glasses, then in early November I had cataract surgery one my right eye. They were made even though I was having cataract surgery on both eyes. Since my prescription changed twice after having a second surgery, the glasses prescription, was now incorrect. I asked if I could get a refund, and the answer was NO. I was referred to this office by my GP. Arrived early knowing there would be paperwork. Old school no online forms There was one form stating there was a charge for a missed appointment or less than 24 hour notice. Too much can happen from one minute to the next to sign such a document. They refused to see me. read more

Avoid this place, just like all other reviewers mentioned. They drummed up business to take your money and give you unnecessary tests. Please do not come here. I came in to see Dr. Duzman as referred by my primary doctor because I had a huge size of stye. Dr. Duzman told me to keep my eyelids free of makeup and he went on about other unrelated questions. Then he said he wanted to see me in 6 weeks which his staff 'determined' that I needed to come back in 2 weeks. When I came back, I never saw the doctor. Instead, they gave me the Visual Field Exam and Image Optic Nerve tests which have nothing to do with the stye that was gone by then. I was charged $270 for those bogus tests. Their business is so bad and that's why they haven't claimed it on Yelp. AVOID AT ALL COST PLEASE UNLESS YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TIME AND MONEY!!!! read more

While the staff was very polite and professional. Dr. Duzman was very unprofessional. He made some unappreciated remarks that were hurtful toward my elderly mother. I do not recommend this place. Avoid this place like the plague. Equipment is out dated and so are the advice and treatments the doctor gives you. Took my husband here 2 times because he had a lump on his eyelid. We waited nearly 30 min in the room for doctor to arrive only to tell us use warm compresses (5 min). There were no other patients in the place. This past weekend I was really worried about something going on with my eye. Although I have insurance, I have to wait for a referral, and then an appointment. I strongly urge anyone who cares about their vision to please stay away from Dr. Joseph Wu's (this review only pertains to him). To be fitted for contacts, I had to go see him THREE times so he could finally get it right. And by right I mean that he gave me two different trial contacts so I could tell him which one I liked better. However, the trial contacts I received had a DIFFERENT prescription. During my third visit, when I told him I still could not see he sighed and rolled his eyes at me. Fantastic. Like Ms. Gail R., the other commenter, he gave me contacts that were not as strong as the ones I came in with. He didn't even bother to explain why he lowered my prescription. And just when I thought things couldn't get worse, they charged me $40 more for the contacts than the price they had given me on my first visit, meaning that they messed with both my vision and my wallet. I sincerely hope that Dr. Duzman soon realizes that letting Dr. Wu work at Lakeside Vision Center lowers not only the prestige but also the IQ of the entire office. More importantly, though, I hope that people who already have to suffer from eyesight problems don't also have to deal with an incompetent and rude optometrist. UPDATE: Someone from the office sent me a message via Yelp asking me to identify myself. I have been coming here for the past 3+ years not only because the doctors and staff are knowledgeable and friendly, but I have been satisfied with my contacts and glasses. Just received my new contacts and I must say, vision and fit are great. I have bad vision and a high astigmatism which combined make it difficult to fit me for contacts. I have been to several doctors in the US and abroad and have not seen a doctor as thorough as Dr. Wu. He takes the time to ensure that my vision and comfort are maximized. This includes mailing me a sample pair of contacts to test against the pair I walked out the examination with. I was instructed to wear pair 1 for three days and compare that to three days of wearing pair 2. This demonstrates the patience and care Dr. Wu took to fit me in my contacts and my eyes appreciate it. read more

Let me just note that the reason I didn't give five stars yet is that my cataract surgery hasn't been completed yet. I notice horribly blurry vision after hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which never returned back to normal. MY GP sent me to a female Russian opthamologist in Newport Beach who turned out to be the Opthamologist version of Nurse Rachett. What a bitch! I would never go back to her, and I believe I already gave her a too generous one-star rating here earlier. So my doctor suggested I try Dr. Duzman. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! They were friendly, prompt, and incredibly efficient. "Efficient" was not to say that I was rushed through. Dr. Duzman examined me and explained in very simple language just what a cataract was and what the surgery would be like. I have every confidence in him and his staff. I have a feeling after my surgery, i will upgrade this to five stars. In the meanwhile, the bitch Russian opthamologist can go right back to Russia. I hear there is a need for stray dog catchers. Waited for the doctor for an hour while listening to the staff in the hallway say he was in his office. Equipment was old and the whole office was like walking into the 70's. The nurse who does the preliminary tests had to the eye puff test manually - holding my eyes open and sticking a pencil like machine into my eyes! No thank you. Also, I told the receptionist I didn't want my eyes dilated but if they had the eye imaging machine, I would do that. She said they didn't, but as I was sitting in the exam room, I noticed a flier for their imaging services. Really? I left without seeing the doctor and no one said anything; I noticed that the waiting room was packed. I understand waiting for a few minutes, 10 max, but an hour and no word from anyone, that is unprofessional services. read more

I had monovision surgery to eliminate the need for glasses by one of the best eye surgeons in the world in 2001 at a cost of about $3,600. I have enjoyed perfect close up vision in my left eye and distance vision in my right eye, unfortunately my close up vision was destroyed by Dr. Eran Duzman, M.D. when he performed his cataract surgery on February 4, 2020. I complained at every appointment for several months afterwords even after my right eye cataract surgery was performed successfully. At that point my left eye outperformed my right distance eye. What I kept getting as a reply from Dr. Eran Duzman about my double vision and lack of close up vision in my left eye was, "You have dry eyes. Use plenty of eye drops. It will all be OK. I'm not worried." In my last visit with him he said, "we will take care of the problem next appointment (one month later). When I showed up for my appointment a month later his solution was to send me to his associate for a perscription for eye glasses to correct the left eye. Are you kidding me? He wants me to go back to eye glasses that I got rid of 20 years ago. I can no longer read my emails, product labels, letters, bills, advertisements, prescription labels and much more. I am extremely disapointed in his treatment skills, his staff and the fact that he would not admit his mistake and corredt the situation. The doctor was nice and definitely knowledgeable when I finally saw him but I waited 30 past my appointment time just to do the preliminary tests (I had arrived 15 minutes early to make sure all the paperwork was done before my scheduled time). Then I waited alone in a different room for another 30 minutes before I finally saw the doctor. No one checked in on me, apologized for the wait, or updated me on a timeline. My actual exam and diagnosis from the doctor lasted maybe 5 minutes. read more

Dr. Duzman's office they insisted my insurance would not pay for my visit because my prescription was still valid. I made it clear I wanted an eye glasses prescription and when I went to get a pair of glasses I was told my prescription was expired like I had thought. I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Duzman's for several years, after being diagnosed with an eye disease that affects my cornea. Within the last couple of years, I also started seeing Dr. Wu for my vision exams and the fitting of my contact lenses. From the beginning, I felt like Dr. Wu was extremely patient, knowledgeable, and thorough. He took the time to explain everything to me, walk me through questions I had about my eyes, my treatment, changes to my vision, etc. My eye condition makes contact fittings quite challenging, but Dr. Wu walked me through every step of the process, trying to make the contacts just right. It did take more than one visit, but I appreciated that Dr. Wu was so careful and comprehensive in dealing with my eyes. I feel like he was/is genuinely interested in the proper care of my eye condition and in managing it in the most effective way possible. The office staff is also very helpful and accommodating, and the office location is convenient with a big parking lot. I would definitely recommend Dr. Wu and Lakeside Vision. read more
