Fabulously competent orthodontists, Dr. Vo and Dr. Huang at Parkview Optometry in Irvine are the professionals you would want for your vision care. Usually I see Dr. Vo, for whom I have already written a stellar review; but yesterday I was given Dr. Catherine Huang, who is also phenomenal. She received her education from UCSD and UC Berkeley so obviously she is very intelligent; but perhaps as important she knows the questions to ask, can interpret your perhaps sloppy responses to determine what you really meant to say, has a good command of all the diagnostic equipment and optical choices and knows which to suggest for "perfect" vision. She also has a delightful personality which lights up the room as she's doing her testing. read more

I haven't been to the optometrist in a few years after getting LASIK, and she provided me with a thorough and informative eye exam. The office has the latest technology and modern machines - there was one that was so convenient: it takes pictures of your retina, so you don't need to get your eyes dilated anymore. I've been coming to see Dr. Vo for about 8 years or so. He has recently taken over the business from Dr. Sarlitt and have been making several improvements to the place. The first thing that I noticed was that all of the equipment has been updated with new fancier gadgets. One new equipment that I liked was the retinal imaging device. He told me that with that machine, there would no longer be a need to dilate my pupils. Yea! His examinations continue to be very thorough and he really takes his time to answer all of your questions including personal non-eye related questions. So after all of these years, my annual eye exam has been more like having a friend exam my eyes. Needless to say, I will be coming here indefinitely. I would recommend that you come here if you're new to the area and looking for an optometrist. The office staff has remained the same throughout the years and they continue to be a friendly group of people. It has always been an pleasant experience to interact with them. I broke my glasses on a Saturday afternoon. When I stopped by their office, however, the door was locked. To my surprise, they opened it and asked if I needed help. YES, I said. They let me in, fixed my glasses and saved me money at the same time. Simple. Easy. Quick. I felt so good about their integrity, I had to book my annual eye appointment with them. The appointment with the Doctor was thorough and professional. He answered all of my questions (I had many because I enjoy knowing the scientific details and facts). Parkview Optometry is the best. I never feel pressured to purchase something that we don't need. Dr. Warren is very patient and takes the time to answer all of your questions. You never feel rushed or like you are "just a number". I have only seen Dr. Warren, however, everyone in the office is very honest and kind so I imagine that the other doctors here are amazing as well. All of the costs associated with the exam and glasses/contacts are fully explained before you agree to the charges so that there are no surprises. I haven't had an eye exam in years, so I decided to finally check on the health of my eyes. The staff is super friendly and checked me in right away. Dr. Vo came in right away with no wait time. He ran standard tests, but also had the capability of a 3D imaging of my eyes, that also allowed a detailed check of the back of my eyes (which I was concerned about because of my time on the computer). He explained to me what the tests meant and I felt very comfortable to ask questions. Luckily, I got a healthy report! He also let me try on my prescription and take a spin outside which was very helpful. At check out, the staff gave me a price quote based on my benefits and tips on how to get the frames I want using my benefits. I love this place! I have an spent a lot of time in optometry and ophthalmology offices due to a childhood injury, and this is by far the best office I've been to. Dr. Vo is extremely patient, kind, caring, and intelligent! I have a scleral lens and no matter how many times it needs to be adjusted, Dr. Vo is there to help without any issues. He is very knowledgeable, professional, welcoming, patient, caring, and a pretty cool guy!! I was very comfortable having him work on my eyes. I moved to Irvine recently and needed to find a new optometrist after a decade. So glad I found them! Jackie & Letty and front desk are very nice and helped me figure out my prescription. I had been using an outdated, not-good-for-my-eye shape contact lens brand for a long time and it started to scratch my cornea and I was having trouble looking at the computer at work and my eyes were getting strained. Dr. Sarlitt was really patient with me and went through at least 8 different contact brands that he let me test until we found the PERFECT contact lens brand for my eyes. So, I've generally had good experiences here. Sarlitt is a good guy, very pleasant to talk to. But the sessions drag on quite awhile when they make you do this exam where you get blasted with air in your eyeball and then you have to click a stupid button everytime you see a light show up on a screen...it drags on quite a bit and I get the feeling this exam should be updated. Sarlitt's wife, Jackie, runs the reception desk. I kind of got the feeling she was pushy when she'd just hang over my shoulder waiting for me to pick out glasses. She overstepped her boundaries when there was a scheduling mix-up on my behalf, for the 1st appointment of the day after a holiday (my mother made the appointment for me). Jackie called me up the morning after I left a message the night before (yes it was a holiday) saying I wouldn't be able to make it because I didn't have anyone to watch my daughter. After trying to bully me into showing up anyways, she told she wouldn't be able to reschedule me. I tried to apologize for the inconvenience because she seemed truly distraught over one appointment, but then she cut me off and wouldnt even let me finish! I've been going to Sarlitt for years. This was totally unprofessional on her behalf. If being a receptionist is her life, she should know that mix-ups happen. It's just not a good idea to have a stingy wife as a receptionist. She's obviously going to get bent out of shape when she loses pocket change. One star for berating a patient. Don't risk it. Go somewhere else. There's a nice optometry by Albertson's on Campus that I've heard good things about. read more

I am only driven to write reviews when I have a positive review to write, and I have written very few, so this place is special. I had a wonderful experience because of the owner Dr. Sarlitt. The guy is a wonderful person whose only fault was being overly helpful, friendly, engaging, and helping me to see more clearly. It had become harder and harder for me to see the text on my computer screen, but I just didn't have the time to make an appointment and go to the doctors office. Serendipitously, I was visiting my family in Irvine, and decided to pick up some groceries at the neighborhood Ralph's, when boom... I stumbled into my Pal Dr. Sarlitt's office. 30 minutes later I was strolling around town in some pretty posh spectacles, able to read anything at an exceptionally fair price. The quality of Doctor Sarlitt's work is beyond reproach. When I somehow tore my retina a few years ago he was right there to guide me. He not only referred me to a specialist he made sure I got to see that doctor late on a Friday evening. I have complete confidence in his work and he is most professional.
